Isn't it pretty out there?? These falls colors are always so beautiful!!!
When we were on our walk this morning, I spotted some squirrel nests way up in the tree..........
Look at this....4 nests in the same tree!! smile.... Do you suppose they are all related?? smile...
Isn't this amazing, how they can make their nests, with what looks like leaves, and what maybe mud??? They withstand winds, snow storms and rains...
Oh yes...and in case anyone wondered the pie is amazing and 'Oh so good." smile....
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. The couple in the beginning of the video, John and Ruth were the ones who took these videos. When we were visiting one day they mentioned that they had a video of Grandma and Neil. I was so excited, and of course you can see why!! smile... Ruth was the lady who had the tiny waist and if you can believe this or not...she wore her wedding dress at their 50th wedding anniversary...along with the little waist...smile...

I thought I'd share a little about 'Grandma Gertie', for those of you who are following "The Many Thoughts of Grace", these little inserts into their lives will help you to understand more about her! smile... This picture shows Grace (my Mom) standing beside her dad Harry, Grandma is holding baby Paul. This was in the early 1920's. They were both from Missouri where their families lived. This is where Grace (Mom) grew up, then when she was in High School her dad's father moved up here to Iowa. He was quite the horseman and took a job as a Manager of 6,000 acre ranch. He had two of his sons (Grandpa Harry and Ernest) move up here with him to work on the ranch. So this is how my Mom (Grace) got transplanted into Iowa!!! smile... Through the years Grandma always had to return to Missouri to visit her family. As I said her sister and her family raised sorghum and made molasses! And now we're back to the molasses popcorn balls...smile... I hope you aren't bored with this, but in part I am doing this blog as a piece of history for my family.
That being said...here is another posting from Grace's diary...smile....
Blessings....and pray your fall weather is as lovely as ours has been. It was 75 degrees here today!! Yeah!!

"The Many Thoughts of Grace"
December 24, 1936:
We went to program at school. I sat with Melvin and Elaine. Elaine gave me handkerchiefs. Melvin gave me a dresser set. I was sick at my stomach tonight. Aunt Ruth gave me a smock and pillow cases.
