Big Birthday Party

What a birthday party this was!! Mommy and Daddy (and grandmothers) were getting the balloons all set  up to go outside!!!

They already had the inflatable bounce house/slide set up before we got there!! (And the kids loved it!!) Even though it was a 'hot' day, they didn't seem to mind!!

Here are their cakes.. Lorelai was 6 and Maggie Sue was 2!! I'm sorry I didn't get a very good picture of the cake (to the left) that their Meme had made and decorated!!! (So...cute!!!)

Their cousin Eden and

twin sister Ivy were there too, to help the girls celebrate their day!!

Here were most of their friends at the kids table, eating lunch!!
I made a Dorito Chicken Salad, it was big enough to feed a crowd..(which was great, since there was a crowd...ha! ha!) If you would like to see or make it just click here. It says it only takes 15 minutes...for some maybe. But for me, it took a wee bit longer. ha!!

Here was grandpa, with some of his grandbabies watching the boats go up the river...

And then there was uncle John, showing Maggie Sue how to shoot a can of string at grandma!! ha! ha!

The rest of the kids were also having fun with the can string...

Here's Lorelai, one of the birthday girls enjoying a snack...

And the other birthday girl having a sucker!!!

Opening their gifts...

First Maggie got some princess high heels...

And then...off with the heels and on with some new slip on shoes!! Shes going to be a shoe lady one day, I can see that right now...smile..

How has your day been?? Mine was good, even though it was overcast all day...but as the day ended the sun broke through and I had to smile..

Bye for now...Gert

What an emotional Day

My morning started with Brenda enjoying a cup of coffee with me. I was really savoring this moment. We were blessed to be able to do this for five mornings. Drinking our coffee, discussing the news that had happened over night, and planning our day. But today was bittersweet as I knew by evening I would really be missing her. She was heading back home to her family. I know her husband and children were really missing her and glad to have her back with them.

My son, Randy and his wife Vicky, came over. Vicky took Brenda to the airport, while Randy stayed with me. It was nice to have him here. He watched TV for awhile, then slept for a bit. My heart just breaks knowing what he is going through. But he is so-so blessed to have such an amazing wife. Vicky is his rock right now.

We had gone all week with out taking pictures of us together!! So we did a little 'selfie' last night..smile... We did a few things this week. Wednesday we stopped at the Farmers Market. It was the first time this year that I have been able to go! We saw some friends (vendors) that Tom and I have grown to know over the last several years. It's always good to see and visit with them. I bought some 'grass fed hamburger', it always tastes so much better than store bought!!

Last Sunday, I had a visitor...little Miss Maggie Sue.. She hasn't changed too much, just gotten a little bigger. But look at that unchanging sweet smile.. smile She is adorable...

Thank you for taking the time to stop by and for all your good thoughts and prayers.

Blessings and good night!!

A Visit from my Granddaughter - Part 1

Here she is...so precious!! She arrived on Wednesday and stayed till Sunday!! We had such a good time as you will hear about in this and my next post! We laughed, we cried and had so much fun!!

Thursday we did lunch with Lacey, Lorelai and little Maggie Sue. That was so much fun, to see them and have a nice lunch. We went to Panera Bread on the other side of town. The one over here closed a few weeks ago. I was so bummed.. This one was so cramped and hardly any parking. BUT, the food and company were irreplaceable.

Maggie didn't get any food, but had a good time chewing on here teething ring!!

See those storm clouds a brewing?? We had a couple more errands to run so were glad to get home before the rain.

Ashley hurried in to pick up our MS Walk t shirts! They turned out really good, which you'll see in my next post. I had her running all kinds of errands.. I'd pull up and she'd do the running!!

We took Rusty to the groomer, he's pretty big, so Ashley had to pick him up and put him in and out of the van. He rides really well though. He needed pills at the vet too, so I had called and ordered them and Ashley went in there also and got them. Then to WalMart for some yarn. She was busy making her husband an afghan and needed more yarn.

See how cute Rusty looks??

Here is some of her work. It is going to be gorgeous when she's done!!!

Tonight we're having lighting and thunder. I hope it moves through and will be okay tomorrow. I have to go to the dentist...uggg. And I don't have my Ashley to go with me..smile... Yes, I really miss her.

Good night and stay safe with these spring storms that are going on across the country.

Easter Visitors

Yesterday Maggie Sue came to visit!! She is so adorable!!!
She's standing, with a little help from Mommy.

Here she is with Daddy... happy!!!! happy!!! happy!!!

Lorelai eating her Easter sucker, and Maggie Sue standing at the coffee table, being a big girl.

When they were leaving, Lorelai's dad took this picture. She had her and Maggie's Easter bags in one hand and their puppy Bear in the other!! Way...way too funny. (I think she was like- hurry up--lets go!!) ha!!

They made me so happy..who doesn't love babies and grandchildren??

Also, my son, daughter in love and grandson came to visit!! Wonderful day... how was yours? I hope it was also a blessing.

As Close to Perfect as Possible

Yesterday certainly was 'perfect'!! Our temps were amazing, 73 degrees.  And can you believe it's February in Iowa?? Yes, those temperatures were a record setting high!! My son and DIL stopped over and checked on the van, which was fine. (Yeah!) My granddaughter and her girls were here all day. What a fun day we had!!

Holding, loving, and just seeing what wonderful children they are!!

Lorelai helped Aunt Karen make brownies!! (I wish I'd have gotten pictures of her in the kitchen) She broke the eggs, (which I'm still surprised at), then she whisked the mixture up!! She noticed Karen's yellow gloves she wears when she does dishes and told her she'd like to help with the dishes. What a little Miss Susie homemaker!!!

Rusty even got into the mix!! (He did get a little jealous when they were up on my lap though!) It was funny to watch.

It was even nice enough to do a photo shoot outside..smile... It was just a wonderful, fun filled day!! Loved ones, babies, one on one time, playing games with those you love.

Blessings..

Santa Claus is Coming to see Tom..

Yesterday, the home had a Christmas party for it's patients. They also had lots of goodies to eat and drink.  They did bring a plate in for Tom. Since he's on a pureed diet, all he got was some jello, cheesecake and a strawberry salad. (Apparently he liked the jello the best as that was what he ate..

Santa brought him this pretty blue plaid blanket and some Hershey's mini candy bars.

A few days before there were carolers singing to them. These sweet children came into Tom's room and personally sang to him.. (they were really good singers!!)

I just had to share this with you.. I got this from Lacey (their mommy) the other day. Just 'smile' as you look at these beautiful sweet little girls. I'm always in awe when I see our Great Granddaughters! God is good.

Blessings...

Look Who Else was at the Party

Oh yes, Maggie Sue came to the party too! smile..  Her Grandpa R. was giving her lots of love as you can see.

I thought she looked like she was cold the way she was holding her arms. But they said she does that all the time. She has the bluest eyes you've ever seen. And her hair is getting long and darker. I did get to hold her...she is such a good baby.

For a minute, I want to go back to the birthday girl. This was when she came with her other grandparents. Grandma K. had the cutest pink boots for her to wear with her pretty dress! She did put them on, but after she was out playing with the games etc. I saw her coming back 'without' her boots..lol She's a little girl after my own heart! (I love going barefoot too.)

The other day when we went shopping, I spotted this 'pillow doll' and thought we'd get that for Lorelai.

Here she is after they got home last night, her Mama told me she 'loves it'! smile.. That just made my day! Pure sweetness...........

Did you have a nice weekend?? Tell me what you did.
