Santa Claus is Coming to see Tom..

Yesterday, the home had a Christmas party for it's patients. They also had lots of goodies to eat and drink.  They did bring a plate in for Tom. Since he's on a pureed diet, all he got was some jello, cheesecake and a strawberry salad. (Apparently he liked the jello the best as that was what he ate..

Santa brought him this pretty blue plaid blanket and some Hershey's mini candy bars.

A few days before there were carolers singing to them. These sweet children came into Tom's room and personally sang to him.. (they were really good singers!!)

I just had to share this with you.. I got this from Lacey (their mommy) the other day. Just 'smile' as you look at these beautiful sweet little girls. I'm always in awe when I see our Great Granddaughters! God is good.

Blessings...

Just Because....

Have you ever done something or had someone do something for you..."just because"??
When I first started working back in late 60's, the lady I worked for got a rose from her teenage son, who brought it in. I asked her later if it was her birthday or a special day. She said..."no..he said he did it 'just because'"! And when I got this package...that is exactly what I thought when Susan Branch sent this to me!

When I opened the box, this is what I  first saw! Isn't this adorable?? Susan wrote to me and asked for my address..and said that she had something to send me! smile... (You have no idea how excited I was I got this message!! Like almost bouncing off the walls excited!! smile...)

And then there was this box, all tied up with the pretty string...

Inside the box was this pretty little card, with a note from her!!

Nestled down inside the box was this precious little angel. (You know how I love angels...smile..)

And this was way down there too...in there among the 'yellow' shredded paper. Did you see another smile?? You know how I love yellow!!

Look at these beautiful shells!! She said, her and Joe were on their daily walk down to the water, and she said to Joe I know Gert would just love some of these shells. So they gathered them for me! Isn't she just the sweetest thing ever?? Now we have a little piece of Martha's Vineyard in our home..smile.. I'm not sure if all of you know my connection with Susan or not. I have followed her for years, her mother was from Sioux City as was her grandfather "Willard"...my home town!!! smile... If you don't follow her...go over to her blog Susan Branch and check it out and read about "Willard"!! You will be very glad you did--trust me!

Hope you're having a good week...

Surgery and Spring???

Yesterday SIL had her surgery and all went well. Thanks for all your prayers.. Isn't our God good??
When we came home, we stopped at the gas station for gas, I thought..I really need something to take a picture of and look what was right in front of us...smile.. Isn't he cute??

See him?? He was such a good boy...he stayed right in the jeep. I'm always amazed when dogs stay in the back of a pickup or any open vehicles.  They are smart aren't they??

Yesterday, when Tom brought the mail in, look what we got! My friend Betty, from Australia, sent me a late birthday gift! We (actually we) were so excited when we opened it!! I just smiled when I saw the tea towel with the doggies...Rusty...is always a part of our lives.. smile..  Everything is so pretty...a beautiful tray and a sachet of lavender. Ahhh, it smells so good!

Remember, I was telling you about where the pigeons roost? This was the sign I originally spotted them at. And yesterday, I saw them jump down, so I zoomed in and can see where they go. (See all that poop...lol)

Hope you are enjoying your spring... hummm... It wasn't too bad today, I even opened a couple windows. (course I love 'fresh air') BUT tomorrow our high will only be in the 30's, and will stay that way for a few days...We must remember even though it's spring on the calendar, it also says it's March!!!

Memorable Weekend....

Oh I told you I would share with you what has been going on with us over the last few days! smile... We had an 'amazing' weekend! My cousin Glendena and her husband Richard came to visit! It had been a few years since we'd seen each other, but just like in our younger days, it seemed just like yesterday. We had such a nice time.

They came bearing gifts!!! smile... Richard makes lawn ornaments and did this one for me. (Notice the red and purple...the official Red Hat colors...smile...) Tom took it right down and "planted" it for me!  He is so talented...he used wheels off an old seed planter, then topped it off with a glass insulator! Isn't he just the most creative person??? The best thing...we don't have to worry about this summers heat wilting this flower...smile... (thank you!!)

Remember I was digging through old pictures?? One of the main reasons I was doing that was to find some pictures of Glendena and I. When I was young, for several years I would travel to Missouri with my grandparents and spend the summers with Glendena and her family! Just like today, she always had things going on...we went fishing, roller skating, to the local summer carnivals, did things around their farm and many...many more things. Just like today she always had something going on! smile... We became 'best friends'...now we get to travel with her and Richard via postcards. She always remembers us...I have a book of thier postcards they have sent us/me over the years. I even found one dated 1961 when her and her senior class went to Chicago..maybe that was the first of many to come..smile... Anyway, I decided to make her a photo scrapbook and that was what I did with all the pictures I found on my hunt...smile... The first one I did on line...that was the project that failed...so on to plan B..smile...

We shared lunch yesterday down by the Missouri river. It was trying to sprinkle and the wind was blowing so we ate inside instead of going out onto the patio. Glendena and I spotted this 'huge' strawberry pound cake, topped with whipped cream being delivered to another table...and thought why not?? We wanted one of those also...along with 4 plates...we could all share that kind of a dessert...no problem!! But the waiter came back and said they were all out of it!! sad... We were quite envious of those people who got the last one! smile....

We spent the afternoon visiting, going through old pictures and sharing wonderful fun memories! Rusty of course had to help entertain our guests by showing off some of his tricks and antics. But all and all he was a pretty good boy!

Bright and early this morning we met for breakfast and a little more visiting. We hated to see them go, but were so very thankful to have had this blessed time with them. God is good and this is just one of those times when I am so thankful for His touch in our lives... Hope you've had a wonderful SONday too!!!

"The Many Thoughts of Grace"

May 9, 1940: Was the nicest day we've had in a long time. Cleaned the pantry. Went down to Mrs. Hindles this afternoon.
