I just have to share this with you. In the middle of July, my friend was looking out the window and she was so excited. The deer was laying down by my shed. She said, "I think she's pregnant".. maybe she'll have it down there. As it was kind of hidden from the street.
Then a few weeks later, I noticed her up on my patio eating some of the bird food. Then when I took this picture, I noticed that she had been nursing. I told my friend, "I think she does have a baby, by the look of her"!
And yes, look at her baby fawn!! How precious...huh?? Precious and hungry..
After eating a little grass and getting a drink from the bird bath, she decided to join Mom..
And they ate 99% of the bird feed we had out there.
Sweet... but they are wild.. and seem to be hungry. I also noticed they had been laying in some grass with those sticky tops. I remember getting them stuck on my socks and pants years ago and never being able to get them off. So, I hope the deer have a better luck. ha!
Our weather has been so HOT. But most evenings, I have been able to sit out on the porch. Tonight, my little neighbor boy came over and we had a nice visit.. He's about ready to head back to school.
I'm hoping I'll get some photos tomorrow of my son and his band when they play at the Iowa State Fair. smile...
more as it happens..

Gert, You might want to throw out some old or wilted veggies or fruits , or even peeling for the deer...birdseed is expensive for animal feed. They sure are pretty but will eat your flowers and any thing else. LOL. Oh I hope you get to enjoy your son playing at the fair. Your neighbor boy story warmed my heart.
Wednesday my little neighbor boy who is now 18 drove off to college. I was teary all day. He was four when we moved here. Years seemed to have flown by. Josh used to come over to play with our cat...I would give him a microwave pop corn and diet coke to take home when he left. LOL. I wonder if he thinks of that. Blessings to you sweet friend, xoxo, love, Susie
