It's Summer...or is it? It was Spring or was it?/

Hello there.. Sorry it's been a whole month since I've put up a post. Yep, spring is gone and summer is here! Well, at least that is what the calendar says!! But I wonder sometimes. Our spring had record highs into the 100 degrees!! I'm still shocked by those days. I miss my cool spring rains and temperatures. But, here we are into summer and we've been having lower temps and rain! Actually, we're having flooding in the area....then tonight it has been pouring, with lots of lightening..sad I feel so bad for those who are evacuating their homes due to the flooding.

As you can see by my picture I've had lots of birds at my feeders this year. A couple nights ago there were 8 mourning doves out there eating. I couldn't hardly believe my eyes!! I guess they know a good place when they see it...ha! ha! I'm even getting Cardinals again. We put out some seed that they like. I always wonder....how do they know when you change the food?? God must have given the some superior senses!!

I know it's really hard to tell, but there is one dove on the deck railing, 4 at the first feeder, 2 at the other feed and one by the wheel barrow! Eight....can you believe it??

There was even this bunny rabbit at the pan eating the seed. (I think it was eating the corn). It looks like it's hiding here. smile...

My son was playing this weekend at a couple different places.  They were both outside. This was the first one where they played around 3 or so. Then they jumped in their vehicles and headed off to the next one a few hours away..ha! It was a busy day for them. His wife went with him, they stayed overnight last night, then drove into the city this morning. It was soooo nice to see them. Randy is the lead guitarist and is on the right side in the red plaid  shit. He loves his music! One of these days I will share a video. (I just need to figure out how to do it.)

My daughter Brenda is going through some medical issues and I would really appreciate prayers for her. I just hope she'll feel the comfort and love that only our God can provide.

Thank you again for all your good thoughts coming our way and try to enjoy yourselves where ever you are on this planet that we all call home..

Bye for now...

Beauty-Beast-Birds-Best Strawberry Pie

One day I was at the doctors office and spotted this 'yellow' flower! The early morning rain drops were still on it's petals. Oh how I love nature!! Beautiful huh??

Isn't this funky?? ha! ha! When life gives you a tree stump...why not display your Beast of a Bike for all the world to see on it???

Oh, how I love to watch the Birds, especially the Mourning Doves. They are such gentle birds. They come in, in the evening and roost on our tree limbs. They will primp and pamper for hours. And of course they take a nap or two during this time also...

I was going through some pictures today and came across this collage of how to make this simple and easy Best Strawberry Pie. Years and years ago, I went to my brothers house and his wife made this....I just fell in love with it!!! So...so...simple and yet so...so...delicious!! And it's perfect for this time of the year. When it's 'hot and humid' and no one wants to run their oven....even for a pie. This way you can have you summertime pie and eat it too!! smile...

This was a busy day...my friend came up and cleaned the house. We had lunch together, (Chinese,) and just a good old fashioned visit...which I always love!!

We have a potluck tonight, but the heat is too much for me to go out in. Hopefully, it will cool down and I'll be able to attend next month!

Have an amazing day...

October Chill is in the Air..

How is your October going? This is how ours started with nasty clouds and rain. Really autumn weather. And it has turned cold. I mean we actually had to turn the air off...smile.. I know you're all laughing at me. And tonight, we will have to turn the heat on. sad.. Next week, we will have to call and get the fireplace turned on. I really miss it tonight.

Tom saw this on our kitchen window today. It's beautiful, but sad...to realize a dove hit the window so hard it left such an impression. We did not see it laying on the deck, so it must have survived. (Sorry it's blurry..but its through the screen.)

The tree continues to change..smile..

Tom finally was able to get the heart monitor off this afternoon. It has been a long 48 plus hours. I told my daughter, I don't think we do well with being sent home with equipment. ha.. The first night the phone didn't  get plugged in, so the battery went dead. I had to call in and figure out what to do. We had to recharge the it, so while it was charging Tom had to sit (within 10 feet of it) for hours! Yikes!! It almost wasted his whole day.... Now I hope everything is okay and they ended up getting enough data!! lol

Tomorrow, will be a busy one.. And I hope this weather straightens out.. (rain ends and temps are a little warmer!)

Do you have plans for the weekend??

Hot and Humid Weather

Look at this pretty little 'house finch'...he is really pretty I think. I read about him and it said they were introduced into the eastern United States in the 1940's by cage-bird dealers.
I see they like this ground seed.

I spotted this robin the other day and thought maybe it was something else. But when I zoomed in it was just a pretty robin! ha..ha...

Isn't this dove pretty? We just love to watch them fly across the sky and land on the telephone lines and poles! Then they zip over to our patio for a little bite to eat. smile...

Remember our pretty little sunflower? Well, something or someone cut it down. We were all so sad, but are thankful that Tom got such wonderful pictures of it. We're hoping it was our local little squirrel and that he enjoyed munching on it or burying it for later. smile...

Today we had temperatures of 92 degrees with a heat index of 108! Yikes, I know...I of course have stayed  inside and enjoyed the air conditioning all day...smile.. They said on the news tonight, people should put their thermostats on 78 degrees!!! I told Tom, I'd be dead if I had to live with those kind of temps...lol  Tomorrow is to be the same...uggg I hope we'll stay in, unless the doctor wants to see me. I'm having some sciatica nerve problems again, so not sure what they will suggest, maybe another epidural flood. Whatever, I hope I get some relief pretty soon.

How is your week going so far? What is your weather like??

All About Doves

Don't you just love doves?? We have a family that visits us (I think). Looks like a Mommy, Daddy and little one!! They perch in the trees and clean themselves.. this is what it was trying to do.

And cleaning here too. Tonight, I saw one of them on a wire, then in comes another one. It landed a little ways from it...so the first one...hops away on the wire. smile... (I told Tom I wish I'd have caught that on video!)  I was laughing, I thought it was so funny. Then it tried to get much, much closer and the first just flew off!! smile.. like...forget about this..ha..ha..

Isn't it pretty, all plummeted out?? Even their eyes are pretty.

I think I've shared enough pictures for one night...ha..ha!

Well, we went to the doctor today for Tom. He has an infection from his sinuses down to his lungs. So he's on antibiotics and we hope they kick in pretty soon. He feels so yucky and tired. We had some yard people come today and mow the grass. It looks really nice, but he felt bad that he has been so down and unable to get out and do anything. He said, "I have all the equipment...lawn mowers etc. to do it myself!" So, I told him, "well I have all the equipment to clean the house too...vacuum..etc. but I physically can't do it!" He finally conceded...smile.. The joys of getting old..you just don't recoup as fast as you did when you're younger.

Hope you're having a good week...

Birds and Ducks

The other day when we were leaving to head to our local cemetery's I spotted this turtle dove sitting on the railing of our deck.

Then it sat down and was resting for a little bit!! smile...

Then it got up again...they are pretty aren't they? We just love watching them eating and waddling around the patio.

And then it was about time to fly away....

At one of the cemeteries they have a pond with ducks in it. It's so pretty and peaceful!

Little closer picture, but it was taken quite aways away!

I hope you're doing something this weekend. Have you or do you go to the cemeteries? Most of the ones we go to are so peaceful and that is the way it should be I think.
