Some Like it Hot...

Yesterday we tried this new dish, Tomato Basil Pasta! I saw it on Facebook and thought wow! I think we have everything in the pantry..yeah... (I love that, so we don't have to go to the store.) The only thing we had that was different from the ingredients list was diced tomatoes. We had some spicy ones, but none that were plain. So, we made it according to the recipe except for the chopped tomatoes, I had to use two cans of the spicy tomatoes. Also, we used our own fresh basil...big SMILE...don't you just love using your own fresh herbs??? Back to the "hot and spicy" pasta... When I tasted it...I think there was 'fire' coming out of my mouth...ha..ha... But I believe if it was made with one can of diced tomatoes and one can of spicy diced tomatoes it would be perfect!  I know we would make it again for sure!!

I think I've told you that the doctors said I don't have a blood clot in my leg (yeah!), however then they sent to my MS doctor, (who I was to see the following Monday) anyway, she thinks the swelling in my calf is from spasticity in that calf. So that means more stretching of the calf. We'll see how that goes..smile..

Today, Tom had to go down and pick up his hearing aid that was being repaired, while we were down there we stopped by our friends house (they were having a rummage) and guess who came running to us?? Her granddaughter Ariah, she is so sweet and just had her second birthday! Look at those curls.....

I took this picture when we were down town yesterday...pretty huh??

I hope you are having an amazing weekend....ours is much cooler and enjoyable for us! smile....

Catch up...

Where do I start?? How about with Monday...since I haven't really posted since then!! As I looked out our window this is what I saw...turkey tracks...smile.. remember the picture from Sunday when they were traipsing across our back yard?? Well, they must have came across out patio first.. Boy they sure would never get away with anything would they?? smile... I'm not a tracker -per say-- but could sure spot these tracks and follow them...

Tuesday we headed down to get my new perm...as we were riding along at a very high speed...(within the speed limit of course..but to the max.. since I was running late), but was able to snap a few shots along the way.

Always love the old grain elevators..reminds me of the days when we'd haul grain into them. I loved riding with my dad when he would do this.. great memories........

Amazing seeing the exaust from those jets that fly over head... Sometimes there are sooo many of them I wonder how they stay out of each others way. But I know they have 'highways' in the sky just like we have them down here on the ground...smile...

I had Tom take this picture of my new perm...seems I always forget to do this and some of you ask about it so....here I am...smile....

Yesterday was soooo busy...it seemed we were running from about 10 a.m. until about 5 p.m. just had lots of things to do. I got my teeth cleaned and they feel so good! They did find a cavity so next month we'll be heading back to the dentists:( Never...one of my favorite things to do.. But as they say a neccessary evil.. This picture I named "God's Light".. pretty isn't it????

AND THEN I spotted this Hawk sitting up in the tree waiting for his prey... Some day I must have Tom just 'stop' so I can get a better picture of the Hawks we see instead of shooting them 'on the go'...

When we got home and I got the mail...I was soooo excited to see this lovely card and letter from a new, dear friend Betty Jo from South Dakota (not too far from me...smile...). We were in a 'seed exchange'..I really just can't hardly wait for 'spring' now so we can plant these lovely seeds and watch them grow into beautiful flowers. These just happen to be some of my favorites and I don't have any in our flower bed so they will be a wonderful addition. I also must put a 'shout out thank you' to Linda at the Prairie Flower Farm for coordinating this great exchange for all of us. So hop on over and visit her blog...it is amazing and I know you will just love it.

Hope this finds all of you having warmer weather and getting ready to March right into a blessed Spring...

"The Many Thoughts of Grace"

August 16, 1936:
Went to church only a few there. Went up to Sadie's this afternoon. We sat on the school house steps. Joe and Bill came in Houghs new car. Asked to take me home. Frank came and talked. Asked me to go to Sergeant Bluff's picnic. Asked to take me home. Asked me to ride the bicycle tonight. Said he was 22 years old. Aunt Ruth made some ice cream.

Gimp and Gimpy...

Yesterday we headed out to therapy...first they were trying to fit me with a 'walk aid'...it truly is a miraculous piece of equipment. I wish it would have worked, but...due to the fact that I had put lotion on my leg (you know it is winter here in the midwest) anyway it would not work so.. I will try it again later and will be sure and not put any lotion on...smile...

So then after that..I did take some therapy..check me out on the machine..yes on my IPod..smile...and Tom patiently waiting for me..smile...

Then we headed out to lunch at the House of Q...it's a bar b que restaurant..I had a pork junior sandwich and Tom had a half a rack of ribs, oh yes...and we had some sweet potato fries...smile... yum...yum!

Afterwards we went down to visit our friends and see the man who works on Tom's hearing aids.

Remember me telling you all about Tom's sore leg? He thinks he pulled a ham string while helping his sister move. He is sorer today.. so is using one of my canes...thus gimp and gimpy...smile... we are a pair to draw to...let me tell you..ha The other thing that happened...last night when Tom took his hearing aids out..part of one of them stayed in his ear!!!!!!!!! I tried to remove it to no avail.......so that is why we had to go back to his hearing aid man today!! He was able to remove it with  no problem..and used something else on them..

Today we drove down by the river and noticed these sheets of ice floating down river........ It was nice out..but due to Tom's soreness of his leg we just came home and have been enjoying our TV!! smile...

And then I saw this papa cardinal waiting in the tree for his turn at the feeder!!!

Hope you are having a fun and blessed weekend!!! Let me hear all about it!! Sounds like we are in for a change in our weather...but will have to wait and see...

"The Many Thoughts of Grace"

August 9, 1936:
Went to church. Florence said I looked so cute today. Daryle put nickle in collection and said "Heads I win"--"Tails I loose"  He won! Melvin and Elaine came over this afternoon. Paul and us went to Luton for candy. They stayed for supper, went to Brown's Lake tonight.  Saw Tony, Daryle, Joe. Cecil said people say I'm getting better looking every time they see me. Betty thinks I'm nice-have pretty clothes-nice room. She said if she was a boy she knew she would love me.

Can you hear me now??

It was finally time for Tom to get his new ears! We headed out to get them fit! The day was foggy as you can see.

As Tom was being fitted with his new ears, I went next door to visit our friends. We had such fun conversing about all the trips they have taken over the years and the bloopers they have experienced! They were telling about going to the Worlds Fair in Canada and had to ride the subway to get there. As they said they had never been on a subway and weren't sure which one to take, the directions etc. were all written in French which they couldn't read or speak. He got on the subway and she was just sure he was on the wrong one, as they were arguing about it, the doors closed! She was absolutely panicing! What to do??? Her husband had just sped away and she had no idea what to do. The people around her only spoke French and were no help...finally a man who spoke some broken english told her to just get on the next train and that her husband would be waiting at the next stop. She wasn't so sure he would be there, but to her surprise there he was!! And she latched on to him like glue and didn't let him out of her site from then on!! [ha] There were many more stories and we so enjoyed hearing them all. Tom joined us with his new ears and got to hear these stories too! I was watching the birds out their patio window and quickly asked Tom to get my camera!! These are the one birds we seldom see out our window! The yellow finch! I was so excited! They are slowly turning yellow (anyone know why they change to bright yellow in the spring/summer? And are drab in the fall/winter!)

After we got back in town, we realized just how foggy it had gotten! We couldn't believe it! As we were traveling along this one street, there was a center dump truck beside us, we pulled up to a stop light and 'swish' a huge amount of water, mud and gravel spilled out of the truck onto our van!! It was just like a big wave of muddy water! We were so shocked and the truck pulled away headed down the street. After a couple of green lights he finally hit a red one. We pulled up and Tom jumped out and opened his door and told him what he had just done!!! And that he should have had the tarp covering his load.. all he said was "sorry"!! We headed to the car wash, which was closed--then went looking for one that Tom could spray wash the "mud" off the van!! The next day I contacted the owner of the trucking company and they finally got back to me today to say they would send us $20.00 to get the van properly washed! Something to think about "what if we had had a window down when this happened??"

Back to the hearing aids--you'd never know Tom had any would you?? Well, they are working really well for him, the TV is at a normal level and he can turn them up or down or off! So depending on where he is he can adjust them!
