She Lays in Wait

In some ways it’s funny, but actually it’s annoying. It seems the minute I get out of my chair, "Winter" jumps in it. One night her and I were out in the kitchen. She was just laying on the floor. I started into the front room and she took off like a lightening bolt...I thought she was going to play (as she does that sometimes)....but oh no...she jumped into my chair before I got there!

And then there are days she gets behind me...like...'Mom, get out of MY chair"...ha ha

And finally she'll sit on the (narrow) arm of my chair, wanting...once again, to take possession of it! Silly girl!!!

I made this roast Sunday in the crock pot! It cooked all day and really got tender. And of course, who doesn’t love potatoes, carrots and onions with it! I had this for lunch today. Actually, it tasted better than it did Sunday.

Remember me telling you about the turkeys in my last post? Well, I was working in my office this afternoon and I heard..,'goggle-gobble-gobble', looked out and down the sidewalk they were going! I had to take it through the screen, so not a great photo. But there were several females walking ahead. See the blurry photo below.⬇️

We had a pretty sunset tonight. So glad our weather is nice.

On that note...I’m heading to bed.

Bye for now.🤗

Happy Pre Thanksgiving

My grandson came by one day and put some feeders out my office window!!! What a wonderful surprise. He is so thoughtful. Guess who found them, ha! How brave he was-he looked right at me!!!

Here it is (before my friend Krystal moved the screen up!) Oh yes, and she washed the window too... as you can tell by the previous picture!!! I did see some chick-a-dee’s & nut hatches at the feeder yesterday. But they are flighty- they zip in and back out before I can get a picture! Ha!!

Speaking of squirrels- I saw 5 of them on the back patio tonight. I did notice a couple of them were small, must have been babies. There isn’t much to eat as we don’t put much on the ground, due to the deer☹️

I did spot them the other morning in the neighbors yard. But I think they still stop by to see if I’ve put anything out for them-to no avail.

We had turtle doves all summer, but haven’t seen any for a long time. Not sure what they do in the winter. Do you know???

Well, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, filled with love and gratitude!! We all have something to be thankful for....wheather it’s as simple as the roof over our heads to as big as our family. And remember Gods grace and love.

Blessings to you all.

Bye for now.

Everyone Needs Prayers~Even the Turkeys

Last Friday was busy.. I had Bible Study in the morning.(This picture was taken prior to Halloween). Rusty was all dressed up in his Orange bowtie. He is our greeter you know. He loves it when the ladies come to pray, and learn more about the word.. Actually there are usually snacks, and I fear that is what he loves the most..ha! ha! We all enjoy this time together and have formed a wonderful friendship.

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Matthew 18:20

This Bible verse says it all. My thoughts and feelings exactly..

Now to end on a funny note, here is sort of a poem I wrote..and before you read this you must be aware that one of our local grocery stores has an advertisement, 'buy a ham and get a turkey free!'

On my trip to the doctors the other day, I spotted some turkeys along the way. I thought, "Oh you silly little fools, only a week away until Thanksgiving Day." There maybe some who will spot you and think, "Oh yum, a free turkey and I don't even have to buy a ham!" You will grace their table, with stuffing galore, mashed potatoes, gravy and more. So....go hide my turkeys and save your life!! Fly away...fly away...fly away all... That way we will see your descendants next fall!!!

Ha! Ha! I don't think I'll ever make a poet.. Oh well, it was fun! And actually, Tom and others have seen people chasing the wild turkeys. We even talked to someone once, at the doctors office, I think. Anyway, he kind of let it slip that he or someone had shot them before. AND yes, they were tough. Nothing like the ones you buy!! So, maybe they know no one wants them.. smile...

Hope you're looking forward to wonderful Thanksgiving week!

Bye for now...

Turkeys and babies to be..

Sunday, Tom said you should see all the turkeys across the street. He was able to get a clean shot of them (since the sun was just coming up and this was shot to the south.)

(This is a terrible shot...as it was into the sun. But kind of  gives you an idea of how many there were..) He said I think there are 50 of them out there. I thought, sure... now that is probably an exaggeration! ha..ha.. I counted them and there were 39 that I saw... Goodness, our yard was full of them. They were picking at the grass (now that the snow has melted.) Then they came up on the patio to eat some of the bird seed that was on the ground. Finally off they went somewhere else (thank goodness..)

This morning as I was sitting in my office, watching my IT guy working on my computer, I saw these two birds flittering around the wren house. I was so excited as I thought they were wrens. Boy they were busy making a nest. They would come and go so fast, I really didn't get a very good shot. (out another dirty window... )I cannot wait to get the house rinsed off and windows cleaned...

Tom thought maybe they were sparrows, but do you think they 'take over' wrens houses??? Maybe their like those squatters who move in and take over peoples homes. smile... Anyway, maybe we'll have babies again this year...

Well, thank goodness my computer is up and running again. Seems there is always something isn't there? But, our weather was gorgeous! 72 degrees.. it was so nice.. Just wish it would stay like this for the next 6 months...lol  Hope you're having good weather too.

Did You Have A Stormy Valentines Day or a Sunny One??

I know that was a terrible title to this post...lol I just wanted to share these photos. I know of course everyone had a lovely Valentines day, whether you ate out, got flowers or just spent time with your favorite love. Or maybe just enjoyed your Saturday...smile.... My granddaughter asked if we were going to do something exciting. I said, 'do you call our tax man coming to the house' exciting?? ha...ha...

I love playing with photos in PicMonkey. This was the original photo...wispy clouds..

This was one of the 'cold' days, as we crossed the river. It was a blustery one, winds (see the flag?) and of course the ice was floating down the river...

We saw this little squirrel climbing around the suet feeder. They are such acrobats I can hardly believe how they get around and eat upside down...smile...

Another one of our sitings when we were out and about... the turkeys just walk across the street and expect the cars to stop for them..smile..

And we spotted this boy practicing his soccer game! (I was surprised when I saw, I caught the ball in mid air!!)

Yep, one day freezing, next day so nice you can be outside without a coat. Our roller coaster weather.

This week again will be busy.. appointments for all of us. I have to have a mammogram tomorrow. That should be fun...lol NOT... Each day I will let you know how it goes..smile.. Keep Tom in your prayers for good news on his heart and he also has to see an Ortho surgeon on his wrist. (See I told you we will be busy all week....)

Due to the weather and my hip hurting we weren't able to go the twins birthday party today. I'm sad, as I would have loved to have seen them. They are so adorable and growing like crazy..

Blessings to your week.

Wild Life in our Own Backyard and......

Mr. Squirrel was feasting on the seeds we throw out for them. He really is cute isn't he??

And another shot of him.. beautiful animals. Reminds me of a pet. However,  I did treat some of them that way years ago. I hand fed them marshmallows (smile) and cookies. Oh, they loved it... Actually, I had a coffee can with some cheap cookies in it in our back porch. I came home from work one day, to find..cookies all over the porch floor. I looked closer and low and behold there was a hold chewed through the screen. After that I never fed them again. And recently, my SIL wanted to throw out some peanuts for them (which she did) and they were practically knocking on the door for more. I said, we'd better not do that anymore. They seem to know the difference between their food and people food.

Back in the day our neighbor had some squirrels, when he was sitting outside they would  crawl up on his lap and eat whatever treat he had for them. (smile) However, at one time they got into his house. I think through the chimney.

I was so surprised when I spotted this Blue Jay at our feeder. Or at least I'm sure he went down to the feeder. I was in my chair when I saw him in our tree. (He doesn't look very big, does he??)

Then of course this big guy keeps returning everyday. We must be his feeding spot. The red wire we have hanging in the tree, is so we can put our hummingbird feeder on it. That way I can watch them, from my chair...smile...

We even had a couple nut hatches again. They are a pretty bird too aren't they??

And...... (from the and in my title), the other day we went by this one house and spotted the lonely turkey, he was pecking away at something. We stopped and saw someone had put a cake of seed out there for them. smile... Right in the middle of the snow bank.

Did you have a nice weekend?? Our weather was wonderful, 40 and 50 degree temperatures! We didn't get out in it, but did stuck my head out the door, and sucked in some of that lovely fresh air. (Well, actually I had the door open both days, so our house actually had fresh air in it...lol) Do you think I'm wanting spring to hurry up and get here??

What did you do this weekend??

Off on a Cold Day

No golfing yet...smile.. Yes, the course is still covered with snow!! Yesterday, was really cold but we had to go to the doctor and get our cholesterol checked. (All was well..smile..)

Since we fasted, the minute we got out of the doctors it was time to get a bite to eat! We had finally decided to go to the Senior Center. When we got there, the parking lot was full....so we thought lets go down the street to a little restaurant. I got a half a hot beef sandwich...it was so good!!  !(Hot beefs, always remind me of my grandparents. They would take me to Missouri, and we'd stop and have lunch...and always, always she would order a hot beef! And let me know, that was what I should have too. But being a young teenager, I thought a hamburger and fries would be so much better!) Come to find out she was right!!

While we were eating, an old friend came in. Oh, it was so good to visit with him. So, I'm sure that is the reason why the parking lot at the Senior Center was so full!!

After lunch, we had several errands to run. Since it was so cold, we just went to places we could walk in and out of the stores! smile... (Small stores!)

As we were coming up this one street, I said to Tom 'I bet the turkeys are snuggled away out of the weather.' He immediately said, there they are!!!

Tom said, 'boy their skinny'! Must not be getting much to eat!! lol He said, maybe people are shooting, and eating them!  I'm thinking they'd be tough!!! NO THANKS!

Hope your doing well, with warmer and nicer weather here and maybe a little cooler down under.

I know you ladies are so good at praying when I ask, and I do need them for our granddaughter Amanda. She has sinus infection and bronchitis. (I remember how hard that is on a person.) So, prayers for quick healing would be appreciated.

$1.85 The price just continues to go down...

Busy Day and Surgery Went Well

Brenda's surgery went well this morning. (Thank you for your prayers)  The girls were there with her and are keeping her comfortable tonight.  They are so sweet.

(I have a picture of her waiting to go into surgery with the girls, but I couldn't seem to be able to post it!! Eeeeks... computers!)

We headed out this morning to run some errands and get some groceries for Tom's sister. First thing we saw...was a turkey meandering across the street. Well, this little guy was stuck on the other side of the fence. He was trying to run away from us. ha..ha...

When I saw the price of gas, I said to Tom, I think we need to fill up!! smile.. I was talking to my son on the phone and told him we were getting gas as it was only $2.29, he said 'sure...I just filled up yesterday!'  That is usually how it goes!!

Funny, we stopped at the bank to get some money  for gifts. I asked them if they had the money holders to go with the money. She graciously said, 'yes, she'd get some for me.' smile... [Why buy those envelopes when you can get them 'free'?] As we were waiting for her to return, I noticed a letter posted on their window. I assumed it was a message that would say, " We close  Christmas Eve at a certain time." But NO it said, we're having our Christmas  Open House December 12th from 9 till 4. I looked at my phone and 'yes' it was December 12th and the time frame was right!!! So I asked her about it and she said come on in and have some treats. Of course we went in. Look at all these goodies! The lime punch was really yummy!!! And of course all those cookies and treats were hard to choose from. They also had a drawing for a box of candy.  Plus there were calendar give aways!

Then we had a couple other stops before heading to the grocery store!! It was warm (temperature wise) but really over cast. The store was busy, but we did get to visit with a couple people we knew. Seems you always see someone you know. (I love it!) Have you ever shopped for two people at one time??? I kind of knew what I wanted, and went off of her list. There were things that I didn't know what they were. ha...ha.. So just guessed... I figured we could always take them back. Then there is the 'check out'....this is ours...that is hers....finally, I thought forget about it.. I believe we got them divided properly.

It felt so good when we got home, put everything away and settled in. I sat here and watched another Christmas Hallmark  movie!!!! I will do dishes and clean up the kitchen tomorrow!!

Turkeys everywhere

This morning when we were making the bed, Tom looked out the window and saw 26, yes 26 turkeys. They were meandering down the street, checking out every ones yard!

They stopped at our next door neighbors, and were checking out her pumpkins and bales of hay! They started into our yard, (Rusty was outside) and he barked enough to scare anyone or anything! lol So, they headed off. (Notice the squirrel in this picture..smile..)

They eventually ended up across the street. And finally headed off to visit some of the other neighbors...lol

Hope you had a wonderful day.
