Turkeys and babies to be..

Sunday, Tom said you should see all the turkeys across the street. He was able to get a clean shot of them (since the sun was just coming up and this was shot to the south.)

(This is a terrible shot...as it was into the sun. But kind of  gives you an idea of how many there were..) He said I think there are 50 of them out there. I thought, sure... now that is probably an exaggeration! ha..ha.. I counted them and there were 39 that I saw... Goodness, our yard was full of them. They were picking at the grass (now that the snow has melted.) Then they came up on the patio to eat some of the bird seed that was on the ground. Finally off they went somewhere else (thank goodness..)

This morning as I was sitting in my office, watching my IT guy working on my computer, I saw these two birds flittering around the wren house. I was so excited as I thought they were wrens. Boy they were busy making a nest. They would come and go so fast, I really didn't get a very good shot. (out another dirty window... )I cannot wait to get the house rinsed off and windows cleaned...

Tom thought maybe they were sparrows, but do you think they 'take over' wrens houses??? Maybe their like those squatters who move in and take over peoples homes. smile... Anyway, maybe we'll have babies again this year...

Well, thank goodness my computer is up and running again. Seems there is always something isn't there? But, our weather was gorgeous! 72 degrees.. it was so nice.. Just wish it would stay like this for the next 6 months...lol  Hope you're having good weather too.

A Fine Romance and More...

Look what I got a week or so ago, yes, this is Susan Branch's new book A Fine Romance! Falling in love with the English countryside! We (her blog "girlfriends") virtually followed her and Joe as they toured England! It was so exciting to see and hear about their siting's! After they returned home she took her notes (diary of sorts) and sketch's and started working on this wonderful book....day after day..week after week, then soon month after month she worked putting this book together. We kept checking in on her---she would write to us showing bits and pieces on her book. And now...look at it...isn't it just the prettiest thing you've ever seen?? smile..  Soon her and Joe will be heading across the country (from Martha's Vineyard to  Los Angeles..) to do several book signings. We have been encouraged to contact our local independent book stores, tell them about Susan's new book A Fine Romance and ask them to invite Susan for a book signing. Well...you know what I did immediately, I contacted our local book store The Book People! They were very excited about it and hopefully their invitation will be accepted... smile.. I told her about Susan's grandfather Willard, who of course was from right here in Sioux City!! Oh, can you imagine the buzz in our city if Sue and Joe would come here??? Oh...my it's been so hard to contain myself, as I've wanted to share this news on my blog...but as most of you know my laptop died and I was waiting for a new one. Guess what!!! It's here and I am so happy!! I love it!!!

Tuesday, our boy went to have his play date at the groomer! I just know he had an amazing day! He was pooped when he got home!

Yesterday our friend Sherry, came up to visit and to clean our house. Well, what a surprise...she walked in the house carrying a  Jello cake!!! Her and her granddaughter whipped it up the night before. Actually they made three, one for her daughter and one for herself (and her husband). It is soooo good...fresh and delicious! I love them because of the lightness and coolness as it comes from the fridge.

Today I finally got to go out for a ride in that clean vehicle...doesn't that dash board shine like a new dime?? I told Tom, I had to be careful as the seat was kind of slick...I might just slide out...lol

My friend Diana stopped by this afternoon and fixed my hair (she is so sweet!) This is funny....she is not really a dog person...but I think Rusty has finally won her over. He laid at her feet as she was sitting on the couch visiting with us...she said "do you want to go home with me?" He just laid there...like "I wuv you!"...smile... We thought we had lost our baby...ha...ha But she left him here when she went home...(thank goodness!)

I hope all is going well with you and that this summer weather is treating you good.

May Day Flowers...

I know, I know...yesterday was May Day! Did you do something special? Like give your neighbor or best friend a May basket? We did...When we went down to our friends to get a perm...we took her a May Basket! smile..

Actually, we made it out of a plastic cup, with a glitter  pipe cleaner for a handle, we filled it popcorn, candy and a package of tea! I thought this would be fun! I remember the days! These beautiful flowers are what greeted us as we arrived at her home..

She's had these pansies for sometime, don't they look good?? Course I love those sweet little faces on each pansie!!

And aren't her irises pretty?? Ours aren't even blooming yet. She also had winter onions that she offered to share with us, Tom pulled a few. They are really tasty.

Not sure what kind of tree...or bush this is, but we spotted it on our way home! Pretty..huh? Anyone know what this is??

Today was a busy one for me as I worked at my computer, but by this afternoon, my back told me I wasn't use to sitting there that long and had to finally come in the front room and rest! smile...

I hope you are having a blessed week..........

Newsletter is finally done!!

Wow! I am late, but have finally got our quarterly newsletter off to the printers today. Actually, they just called a little while ago and said they were done. (I love Fed Ex Kinkos) So tomorrow, we'll pick them up, add the labels, stamps, and get them ready to mail, hopefully Saturday! smile... Now I'm working on a time line on the South Bottoms to have as handouts at the Multi Cultural Fair at the end of the month! Always something to do! smile...Look at all these cute bubbles on my new monitor screen!! smile... They just float all over, from here to there...smile... The first time I walked in my office and saw this...I was so surprised. smile...

This is what our world looks like now... 'black and white' !! (I "did not" enhance this photo!)...however the black border is one of the new things my computer does! Interesting...

Tomorrow...is Red Hat Day, so that will be fun, I'm sure...as it always is...smile... So will write more tomorrow night...
Happy March 1st, spring is ~almost...here!!!

Unbelievable Busy Day...

It was a VERY Busy day today....as we headed off this morning I noticed the first changing of colors along the boulevard! Next time we go by I'm sure they will be much redder...smile... Are your colors changing where you lived??

Tom had an appointment with the eye surgeon to see if he needed to have his cataracts removed, which he does. Since Tom had his eyes dilated I drove for the rest of the day..smile... Tom said he could sit in the back seat and let me be his chauffeur from now on... NOT!!! smile...  We had a nice lunch at Perkins! Then we went shopping for some more seed cakes for our birds... When we were out earlier I told Tom to run over to a local dealer to get some until we had a chance to get out to Menards and get some! The 'local' dealer was twice as high as Menards...So I hope those birds enjoyed that last cake...smile...  After that..we went over and got my 'new glasses'... at first...they scared me...I didn't think they were the ones I picked out..but soon I realized 'yes' those were the ones...and I like them!!! smile... And best of all we had our computer guy up and had my laptop fixed!!!! Yeah...smile... So here I am...big smile.....
