The End of 2020 DECEMBER BLOG

Here we go into the month of December! Lots of things to talk about and end the year of 2020! The first day these two beauties were at the feeder.  I think they’re about to fight over that big block of seed..ha..ha!  Don’t they know they should be polite and share?? 😁

The first Sunday of the month, I joined 1,000 other ladies and did a Virtual Event with Susan Branch!   This is my second one I've joined.   She is just an amazing lady. She was talking about her new Christmas book, 'Home for Christmas'! It reminded me of the Christmases I remember. It’s a wonderful book! For those of you who are not familiar with her work, here is a link to her webpage.
Susan Branch

My daughter, Brenda, sent this to me for Christmas! How many of you are familiar with "junk journals"? I just love them! She took all kinds of scraps, such as junk mail, and made an amazing journal out of it. There are blank pages in there for me to write about my Christmas or put a picture or two in. Whatever I want to do.  I’m anxious to try and make one myself. Maybe for another holiday.

We've had some really beautiful sunrises this month! And the sunsets have also been spectacular! I love how the sun moves or should I say how the earth moves..if I continue to photograph them we'll notice the difference.

Christmas came and I stayed home, but had company🤗 Randy and  Vicky came over.  She had made a tin full of candy and cookies! Her fudge was amazing! I got to enjoy that for quite awhile🥰 My granddaughter and her family stopped over too! I got some adorable Christmas ornaments and magnetics for my fridge,  the girls had made! My favorite gifts come from the little ones. ~smile~

Towards the end of the month we did have a couple of snow storms again. But for the most part we had a fair month. I just love all those tracks in the snow. Wish I had been at my window when those little critters came to my feeders!

And I’ll end the year with my little "Ms. Winter" contemplating whether or not to play with the ornaments on the tree😇 She did wonderful and only knocked one off❤️

Bye for now and be safe😷

She Lays in Wait

In some ways it’s funny, but actually it’s annoying. It seems the minute I get out of my chair, "Winter" jumps in it. One night her and I were out in the kitchen. She was just laying on the floor. I started into the front room and she took off like a lightening bolt...I thought she was going to play (as she does that sometimes)....but oh no...she jumped into my chair before I got there!

And then there are days she gets behind me...like...'Mom, get out of MY chair"...ha ha

And finally she'll sit on the (narrow) arm of my chair, wanting...once again, to take possession of it! Silly girl!!!

I made this roast Sunday in the crock pot! It cooked all day and really got tender. And of course, who doesn’t love potatoes, carrots and onions with it! I had this for lunch today. Actually, it tasted better than it did Sunday.

Remember me telling you about the turkeys in my last post? Well, I was working in my office this afternoon and I heard..,'goggle-gobble-gobble', looked out and down the sidewalk they were going! I had to take it through the screen, so not a great photo. But there were several females walking ahead. See the blurry photo below.⬇️

We had a pretty sunset tonight. So glad our weather is nice.

On that note...I’m heading to bed.

Bye for now.🤗

January —Brrrr

The first day of January began with this beautiful sunrise! I love walking through the kitchen in the morning and seeing these beautiful skies. On this particular day I watched (and took pictures) minute by minute as the sun crested the horizon. So meaningful!

The majority of these days have had some really pretty sunrises. I call this the ripple effect.

A couple days later...here was another one! I also love seeing the yellow lights glowing in my neighbors house as they were getting ready to go to school and work! (That is where my neighbor girl lives that cares for me!) She calls and looks in on me everyday. Plus, she cleans and meal preps for me. That keeps my freezer full.

Sunday, turned out cold and snowy. We did clean down in the basement. Which was nice, she got it all vacuumed and organized.

Monday was the aftermaths of Sunday’s s now.  Sometime late Sunday night my snow removal people came and cleaned my walks and driveway. At least their happy to see it snow. LOL Tom put this thermometer on this tree many years ago. That way we could out the kitchen window and see how hot or cold it was outside!

And of course the birds were hitting the feeders hard with the snow and cold.

I haven’t done too much this month—-which I can’t believe is half over already! Went to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned and have a cavity—which I have to get filled in February. I also got a perm that same day!

It seems I have a lot to do...just takes me much longer to get it done.  How about you? Do you feel you’ve slowed down? Or has the world sped up?

I got a new computer, as I was using Version 7 which they no longer support or update-sad. So now I have Version 10. It is somewhat different but not too bad.  Seemed like when V-10 came out there were a lot of issues. But hoping they got all the bugs out of it by now!!

"Ms.Winter" is doing good. As always she's great company for me. She loves to play, especially with hair ties. They keep her busy for quite awhile. She loves to play fetch. I throw it and back she comes and drops it right in front of me...smart cat!

But speaking of Ms.Winter...she is tired and looking at me—like aren’t we going to bed anytime soon? Ha! So....I guess it’s time.

Hope all is well in your little corner of the world.

Bye for now...

Where Did Summer Go?

This was the view we had when Randy took me to the eye doctor. Turned out the last shot didn’t work so he put a pellet in it which should work for 3 months. Time will tell. Also today I found out I have to have eye surgery in the morning on my other eye. Uggg

One Sunday, Randy and Vicky invited me and Vicky’s mom, Sue over for supper. Vicky had made some amazing soup and Sue brought some chocolate zucchini bread she had made. Everything was wonderful !!! This is their cat “Smokey”, isn’t he handsome?? He found the perfect spot to sit and visit with me!! Ha Ha !!! His brother Bandit was not as outspoken! 😁

Last week I had company. Tom’s son (on the right) and his husband were in town visiting friends and family and were nice enough to stop by. Better yet, they brought muffins from Perkins restaurant!!! No, that was so thoughtful of them. We had a nice visit. They live in Orlando, Florida. They have two dogs, like Rusty. Both, same breed, age (about) and boys!!! They didn’t want to leave them at home. I didn’t get to see them (other than pictures) but thought that would have something Tom & I would have done with Rusty.

Here is Lorelai , my oldest great granddaughter already for her first day of school!! Isn’t she ‘oh so pretty’?

And look at Eden and Ivy!! Their first day of school!! Aren’t they just the cutest things you ever saw??

Lorelai just had a birthday and last weekend they all went to the state fair. Look at the stuffed animals they won! The big ones, (dad won) are like over 6’ tall—can you even imagine?? The smaller pink one, Lorelai won!! I’m sure she had a great birthday weekend!!

I always have to end with a new picture of “Winter”...so here we are!!

Bye for now💛

A Shot Worth Another Review

When I was reviewing my photos I took Sunday...I thought WOW this is really cool!!  It had to be the angle it was shot at. Mary reminded me of Tom, she was like, did you get it ?? And then she drove on. 😊 It’s amazing how
gifted some people are.

“Winter” loves to play around these table legs. I say she’s ‘pole dancing’, I guess you’d have to see it to understand.

Tomorrow I have a doctors appointment for my eye. Wish me luck, if they do the shot again it will be sore for a couple days. I’m sure I won’t be  posting tomorrow night.

Blessings and bye for now 💛

Weekend

I hope you had a nice weekend. Mine was just lovely. My granddaughter Lacey and great granddaughter Maggie came to visit Saturday. What fun that was!!! They had been school shopping and Maggie had to show off her new unicorn sweatshirt. Isn’t it adorable?? We had lunch, then Maggie had a friend ask is she could come over to play. So they headed back home.

My friend Mary called Sunday and we decided to go out for coffee. This little coffee shop had quite a menu. Mary had a roast going for supper, so she decided to have donuts with her coffee and I had a chicken wrap with mine. This is the inside .... the tables had coffee cup table clothes on them with a glass top. I told the owner I knew her sister who had the quilt shop in town. (That was probably where they came from.) Then I asked about her Mom. She said she had passed awhile back. I was sorry to hear that, I explained I knew her from the Red Hat’s. She was a nice lady. I still have a wooden doll she had painted for me. It is in my office😊

Of course here she is... playing ‘peek a boo’ with me !! Ha Ha She is now ready for bed...hope you have a blessed day tomorrow!!!

More from June & July

We had our South Bottoms reunion the first of June.  This is what we plan, as we have our potlucks each month. We had a great turnout. Of course each year, there are less and less. The average age of the survivors of this area of town, is probably 80.

My girlfriend took me out to coffee, the first week of June. This little hideaway --so to speak--is so fun to go to. They have muffins, Keisha, scoffles and some of the best coffee ever! I think it's Mondays..you buy one get one free (muffins that is!). They are huge and delious! It's called The Koffie Knechtion.  Also on their property, they have a tree house it is a B&B. People rent it, it has a bed...a fireplace with a bathroom. So neat. You could probably Google it and find out more!

I spotted these beautiful flowers as I was leaving the doctors office one day. They are so pretty!  Are you like me? Do you just want to dehead plants like these?? Ha Ha But of course I did not touch them. I just turned around and walked away. 😊

That same day, I noticed I had a low back tire, so I went to the tire shop to get it fixed. They were so nice to me. The owner said I could just stay in the van and they'd fix it. This gentleman has been there for a long time. He always remembers me, and when Brenda was here this spring and we went in there, we visited wth him then too. So he asked me about her. Well, bottom line...they didn't charge me, since I bought my tires there! That made for a good day!

This is what my naughty cat did...twice as a matter of fact! The leaves hung down and she just thought they were something to play with I guess!! I did have to get rid of it. That was a sad day, as Tom had got this cactus for me years ago. But...I still "L❤️VE" her!

I had such pretty tiger lillies this year. Do any of you have them? They are quite common around here!!

I will end this post, as always, with a picture of "Winter", she is now taking over my desk....lol But isn't she beautiful? (Even though she can be naughty!)

Blessings to all and good night!

The Birds of May

I thought I'd share some of the birds I spotted in May! I am always excited in the spring when I spot a Oriole at the feeders. They are so beautiful.

And how I love these little guys! My neighbor girl calls the Hawkeyes! (After our football team here in Iowa! And their school colors of course are yellow and black!) However, I really didn't get a lot of them this year ...sad..

u
This was the food those oriole's loved! Breakfast food...ha... oranges and grape jelly!

As I looked out my office window, I spotted this house finch. So pretty!!

And the woodpecker was busy getting the feed off this block of seed. They continued to stay all spring and summer

I've had lots of mourning doves and cardinals. These birds both come in pairs.

u
And the robin ..it showed up early again this year, so saw it eating the seed we had put out in the pans. I didn't think they ate anything but worms!! Ha! Ha! Silly me.....

This was the only picture (if you can call it that) of the hummimgbird! I only spotted s few this year. But I just love them! So fun to watch as they flutter in and out! What a unique bird.

Do you bird watch? If so what species do you have?

And now there is "Winter"! Seems the minute I get up to go somewhere, guess who jumps in my chair, and rolls up and goes to sleep.

This last week has been crazy. Wednesday, I went to our monthly potluck. (That was, as always fun!) Thursday I went to the doctor and got the results of my Dexascan, (uggg) of course as we get older our bones continue to get thinner. So, ended up on another pill. Friday, I had to go to an eye doctor, and had to have an injection in my eye! It was pretty sore that night and again Saturday. So I couldn't do too much using my eyes. Sunday my eye was better and had the joy of having my son, daughter in law and grandson Jesse here for lunch!

.b
It's always such a blessing to get a big ((hug)) from my grandson.  He lives in Denver, so don't get to see him that often. But absolutely love it when I do.

Pray all is well in your corner of the world.

Bye for now!
