On to November

The first part of the month, I got a new perm and new glasses. Boy are the glasses different. They’re so light I’m amazed. So...I or should I say we picked these out. Randy had taken me and he liked them on me🤓 I hadn’t changed rims for years. I still have my old ones, as he just had to tweak the prescription..well when she adjusted them for me, I had her make them tight. She said well you don’t want them too tight, they’ll hurt your ears. Of course I insisted. Within two days they were killing my ears☹️ So, back we went...and they are so much better! (I bet she knew I’d be back...lol)

Then there was the Presidential Election on November 3rd, between President Trump and Vice President Biden. It took a week for all the votes to be counted and a winner to be announced. VP Joe Biden was the winner.

We got 3” of snow on the 10th, that slowed down a lot of people.  Schools were out etc. when I look at this picture I wonder what animal tracks those are😊 Looking for food, I’m sure.

This little one was eating the droppings from the bird feeder. I think he's cute, but can be so mischievous! Anyone who has them in their yard knows this. 😊

I spotted this hawk on an electrical pole in my yard.  They are beautiful, but within a few minutes he had something he had caught and was eating it.

Even the cardinals were at the feeder. They really like this block seed. Do any of you use this bird feeder?  We got our first one many years ago. They were advertising it on TV.  So Tom ordered it and made the stand for it.  We waited and waited, as no birds showed up.  He was so frustrated, he was going to return it!! But then....one day they started coming...and the rest is history, as they say!!

Thanksgiving came, and there was no getting together like years before.  I stayed home, (my choice).  My granddaughter Lacey and her family stopped by for a visit and that was so nice. These little ones are growing way too fast.  My neighbor girl sent up a plate of wonderful food for dinner. So I did have turkey for Thanksgiving..smile... My granddaughter Ashley called that night and we talked for 3 hours😁

Here us 'Little Ms. Winter', basking in the fall sun!!

Bye for now...more to come!!

Weekend

I hope you had a nice weekend. Mine was just lovely. My granddaughter Lacey and great granddaughter Maggie came to visit Saturday. What fun that was!!! They had been school shopping and Maggie had to show off her new unicorn sweatshirt. Isn’t it adorable?? We had lunch, then Maggie had a friend ask is she could come over to play. So they headed back home.

My friend Mary called Sunday and we decided to go out for coffee. This little coffee shop had quite a menu. Mary had a roast going for supper, so she decided to have donuts with her coffee and I had a chicken wrap with mine. This is the inside .... the tables had coffee cup table clothes on them with a glass top. I told the owner I knew her sister who had the quilt shop in town. (That was probably where they came from.) Then I asked about her Mom. She said she had passed awhile back. I was sorry to hear that, I explained I knew her from the Red Hat’s. She was a nice lady. I still have a wooden doll she had painted for me. It is in my office😊

Of course here she is... playing ‘peek a boo’ with me !! Ha Ha She is now ready for bed...hope you have a blessed day tomorrow!!!

Continuation of “Days Gone By”

Remember the post showing my granddaughters tree that they donated to the town? Well, here it is sitting in the middle of downtown, in all its glory! Lit up like a Christmas tree should be.

Next several pictures will be of the family on a typical *snow* day!!

Today was a great day to bake cookies. Here is Lorelai doing just that. Her and her sister Maggie, really enjoyed it.

Then they went outside to have fun in the snow!!! They are getting much more snow then us. And they will continue to get it through the night and into tomorrow.

Here is their daddy snowblowering the driveway. On the iPhone I was able to hold it down and the picture goes live for a few seconds. On this one Maggie was throwing a snow ball at her daddy!!! Ha! I thought it was hilarious !!!

Here is Maggie😁

And Lorelai 😃

This was out my window this morning. At 6 o’clock we had only got around 2”. (which was fine with me)

I need prayers and or good thoughts for Rusty! Last week he was diagnosed with diabetes☹️ He refused to eat as the week went by, so took him to the Vet Friday. They are keeping him over the weekend. His levels were at 600! So they gave him insulin and it did go down to 400. But she needs it to go to at least 200 or lower. But at least he is eating now. It had gone down some again today. I’m so glad he is there and being monitored. But I miss him terribly. The house is so quiet.

I appreciate your prayers and good thoughts.

Goodnight from the snowy Midwest.

Bye for now....

Days Gone By

Look at my granddaughter Lacey along with her daughters Lorelai and Maggie. Don’t you just love their hats? The girls Meme made them. My daughter in love, Vicky is so gifted. At first when I saw them I thought they were store bought, then was so surprised to find out Vicky had made them !!!!

Monday Lorelai’s school had a Veterans Day program and her Meme (Vicky) went to it again this year!! Everyone is so proud of Vicky and honored to have her in our family.

And of course Lorelai had to give her Papa a big ((hug)) for being there and bringing Meme-lol

They were home this weekend, so I had a long “Mommy do’s” list for Randy. We did watch a little football in between his other commitments. Sorry to say both teams lost. ☹️🏈

Lacey sent me this picture this morning. They are donating their pine tree to the town. It’s a big deal. Every year the town puts up a tree in the center of the town. They had been on a waiting list for several
years.  I think they have a parade and a tree lighting ceremony! I will share more pictures after they light the tree !!!

I believe this is a sparrow! Even though he’s just a sparrow-he has pretty markings on him. 😊

How is your weather?? Ours is promising. It is to warm up tomorrow to a big high of  45 degrees. I hope yours is better where you live.

Bye for now...

Short--and Visitor

Oh, yes Miss Maggie came to visit her great grandma Saturday! She is two and adorable!! How fun yesterday was.. Miss Lorelai was watching cartoons (you can see them in the background). My son (their Papa), was here too for a short while. They are moving so..they had another busy weekend. I can't even imagine moving again. I know I'll have to do it one more time, but I don't even want to think about it! Ha! We have been cleaning up the basement. And finally organizing everything. I will share with you another time some of the old letters I found. A lost art and a lost documentation.

What a surprise Saturday when the doorbell rang! I went to the door and there was a box out there, my mailman came back up the driveway and brought it in for me! What a sweetheart! (I try to put a cold bottle of water out there for him every day, when it's so hot!!) Back to the package...I got my Christmas coffee cup..designed by Susan Branch . (You can go over to her website, using the link I attached to her name.) If you're not familiar with her work and blog...be sure to check it out. I promise you won't be disappointed. This cup was made in England.. it is so light.  I love a big handle, and this one is perfect! Now I'm not trying to hurry winter up but...I can't wait to use it! Actually, speaking of weather..we had a miserable July.  The heat was almost unbearable. Most of the month I stayed home, in the airconditioning.  Our August's are usually the hottest month of the year in the Midwest, but we have been setting record lows! Weather, that is still one thing no one can fully predict!!

We do have a gorgeous moon out there tonight...it's big and golden yellow! Oh so pretty! It always amazes me, that we can all see it, no matter where in this country we live! On that note, I will say "good night" wherever you are in this world..

Blessings!

Christmas and New Years

Christmas morning, my granddaughter and my two greats, came to visit. They had a busy day ahead of them. First Santa came to their house, then to mine, then to their Papa and Mimi's house and off to another Grandmother's house.. and then the day continued. I'm sure they were all tired out when they got home that evening.. smile..

Lorelai thought the suckers were a great treat!! smile.. Especially after running into the house during a downpour. Yes, rain on Christmas in Iowa!! Who knew??? I had never seen that before in my life. It has probably happened, I just don't remember it.

She had to show me her t-shirt she got from Santa...it says BE YOUR BEST!! That's not hard for her as she is always at her best!! She said to me, "I miss Papa Tom", I said, "I know, I do too..." Pure sweetness...

Then there is Maggie!! She loved the suckers too.. Isn't she just adorable???

She made a new friend and learnt a new word RUSTY!! He was so good with her. She discovered, if you tell him to sit up and patty cake, he will perform for a training ball...all day long..ha.ha..

But, after way too many treats, I told her he had had enough...But, as her Mommy told me...no body can say 'no' to Maggie.. (she is just so darn cute!)...

So, here she is getting more treats after I said no...lol!! Mom was right, I couldn't say no...

I hope your Christmas and New Year was a good one.. Sounds like we're in for a little weather here tonight. And the week ahead is to be somewhat chilly!!! Some of our lows are to be below zero...uggg But if memory serves me right...that is the normal for this time of year in Iowa!!

What kind of weather are you having?? Have you made any New Years resolutions? The only one I'm going to try and do is to blog 'at least' once a week and more if possible..

Blessings and good night...

Birthday Girls

What a fun day I had. Lorelai and Maggie celebrated their birthdays together. This is so cute..Lorelai's friends were at the table when Mom and Dad lit her candles. (All five of them..) Then Mom brought Maggie's cake and one candle over to her. It looks like Lorelai's friend, Mason (I think that was his name) was going to blow out the candles for her...ha..ha..
Lorelai was so proud she finally got all those five candles blown out!!
Look at the sequence..she blows them out, then one lit itself back up...so she has to blow it out again...thus that proud smiling face in the end... smile..

Here is their aunt Wendy, with their cousins, Ivy and Eden. Mom was pulling their hair back so they could go outside (in the wind) and play...

And play they did...here is Lorelai, giving them a ride on her little...mini four wheeler...

And then there were presents... lots and lots of presents... smile.. Maggie just loved her unicorn she got.. It was so cute.

Maggie playing with her Papa, trying to put her birthday hat on him!!

And of course Papa giving her some loving...

Pure sweetness....

Maggie with her very own birthday cake.. she was having so much fun eating and eating it....

And eventually....she said..."that's enough"...ha...ha.. (See her putting her arm up to stop Mom from giving her anymore!)

It was such a beautiful...fun filled day... I don't have the words to express how much I enjoyed it..

Blessings, and good night...

Where to start??

I took these pictures last week and finally did a collage of them. She id just adorable?? Isn't it a wonder?? When they are first learning all about life, discovering their hands, their belly, their feet?? Smile...

When I let Rusty out this morning, I saw this photo and thought, "Oh my, I have to get a picture of it!" There was a sliver of the moon in the sky too.

We've had some really nice weather, especially for March!! I love hearing the birds singing, and watching them at the feeder. (I think I need to get a chair and put it over by the window so I can watch them at the quiet times in the morning.) It was 73 today!!! Why wouldn't the birds sing???

My friend was here the other day fixing my hair and when she left she came back in and said the neighbors yard was full of turkeys. Of course I had to get a picture of them....lol

Thursday and Friday we had company again. (smile) My granddaughter and the little girls came to visit. Friday she went to one of the church fish fry's and got us fish dinners. (that was so thoughtful..) She knows how much I like fish and since I didn't feel good enough to get out...she said  she'd bring it to me!!! LOVE...

Lorelai wanted a selfie...lol  It was so funny, as I used my camera.. And was blindly taking pictures of us... I had no idea she was making a funny face!!!! Fun........

I've been busy with the newsletter and finally got the rough draft done today. It will be checked and corrected by another lady tomorrow. Then off to the printers!! Whew...

Hope your had a good SONday!!

As Things Change

I went to the doctor the other day, and since it's the first of the year. I had to refill out my information. They are now using tablets instead of hand writing it. So, I was going through the questions and all of a sudden I realized I checked status: married.. sad I had to go back and change it to widowed. sad..

Then last week I got a card in the mail addressed to "me" and not Mrs. Tom....it hit me and I was very, very sad.  I know things have to change and life goes on...but I don't have to like it.

Now for unchanged things..our sweet little Maggie hasn't changed. She is as beautiful and happy as always. Her Grandma and Papa were babysitting for the weekend and as I said last night, they came to visit. big smile..

And along with Maggie was her big sister Lorelai. Can you believe how she has grown?? And how beautiful she still is??? Now these kind of changes I love.

I kept wanting to take her picture which she wasn't crazy about.....until............

she decided to take funny pictures with her Grandma's phone.. Aren't these cute?? She knew how to add all this stuff and was having a ball doing it.. smile.. Aren't we funny??

Until next time...
