January —Brrrr

The first day of January began with this beautiful sunrise! I love walking through the kitchen in the morning and seeing these beautiful skies. On this particular day I watched (and took pictures) minute by minute as the sun crested the horizon. So meaningful!

The majority of these days have had some really pretty sunrises. I call this the ripple effect.

A couple days later...here was another one! I also love seeing the yellow lights glowing in my neighbors house as they were getting ready to go to school and work! (That is where my neighbor girl lives that cares for me!) She calls and looks in on me everyday. Plus, she cleans and meal preps for me. That keeps my freezer full.

Sunday, turned out cold and snowy. We did clean down in the basement. Which was nice, she got it all vacuumed and organized.

Monday was the aftermaths of Sunday’s s now.  Sometime late Sunday night my snow removal people came and cleaned my walks and driveway. At least their happy to see it snow. LOL Tom put this thermometer on this tree many years ago. That way we could out the kitchen window and see how hot or cold it was outside!

And of course the birds were hitting the feeders hard with the snow and cold.

I haven’t done too much this month—-which I can’t believe is half over already! Went to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned and have a cavity—which I have to get filled in February. I also got a perm that same day!

It seems I have a lot to do...just takes me much longer to get it done.  How about you? Do you feel you’ve slowed down? Or has the world sped up?

I got a new computer, as I was using Version 7 which they no longer support or update-sad. So now I have Version 10. It is somewhat different but not too bad.  Seemed like when V-10 came out there were a lot of issues. But hoping they got all the bugs out of it by now!!

"Ms.Winter" is doing good. As always she's great company for me. She loves to play, especially with hair ties. They keep her busy for quite awhile. She loves to play fetch. I throw it and back she comes and drops it right in front of me...smart cat!

But speaking of Ms.Winter...she is tired and looking at me—like aren’t we going to bed anytime soon? Ha! So....I guess it’s time.

Hope all is well in your little corner of the world.

Bye for now...

Granddaughter Ashley's visit- Part 2th

The day of the walk was cold and chilly...due to the temperatures and winds. Here, Vicky was pinning the sign on Ashley's back!! (You can see how the wind was blowing, look at Ashley's hair!)

Here comes Granddaughter Wendy with the twins, Ivy and Eden!! Aren't they cute??

Here we are walking along the trail... (see the shelter behind us?? That's the one they were suppose to have used.. instead they used one that had no handicap accessibility or bathrooms-uggg!!)

Ha! Ha! Ashley just had to take a selfie...and along with her is my other Ashley who is my caregiver!! Really funny...I have two caregivers who help me once in awhile, one's name is Ashley (like my gdaughter) and the other is Amanda, same as my other gdaughter..smile.. How ironic is that??

"My" cousin Anne, the clown, is here with my son Randy--her second cousin and her daughter Tina, who is Randy's third cousin!! smile.. Thank goodness Anne (the clown) came, she made a million kids happy that day-making animal balloons!!!

But the day was a big success!! Look at our team all in their "orange" MS shirts that Ashley designed!! Below is a closer look at the design!!

As you can see it was all dedicated to her Papa Tom. The Cardinal, the Big Green Egg (grill), the South Bottoms, Rusty, Ironworkers, the watering of his plants (in his garden), fishing lures, the Bus that he turned into a motorhome, and his love GS + TS...us!!!!

Here are a few pictures along our walk...meeting friends, family and cute puppies!!

And then my Ashley was ready to go home...sad... No, it was such a wonderful week!! There was nothing sad about that. As I tell different people about her visit..they all say the same thing! How wonderful that would be to have a grown up grandchild take time away from their busy lives to come and visit for almost a week!! Yes, I know I am blessed...'thank you Father'..

Today was cold and rainy...but we did have a break about the time when I had to go to the dentist!! My prayers were answered!! (And my report was good...no new cavities!!)

Good night........

Happy Fourth of July 2015

Are you enjoying this first day of the long weekend?? I know it's the Friday before the 4th, which means most businesses are closed, including my dentist office. Last night I noticed a cap on one of my teeth had moved. So now I can't wear either my upper or lower partials. Which means, I can't eat hardly anything. Darn...

Isn't this cute?? A few years ago I found it at a craft show! Love how she made it, sewing and embroidering! Aren't the buttons a nice addition to it?? I came across it the other day, and thought, what perfect timing.

I even have a flag in the middle of one of my plants...lol

Here is my decoration for our front door. I made this (many) years ago. I use to watch Aleene's craft show. (Did you ever watch that??)  I made a lot of craft items back then! (I still buy her glue. Sorry she doesn't have a show any longer.)

Poor Rusty is having such a terrible weekend. The fireworks are booming and banging. I'm not sure why but he really is scared. Poor baby!! We were up till midnight last night trying to keep him calm. Tomorrow night will be the worse, there is a little going on tonight. Hope we'll be able to get to bed before midnight tonight...lol

Well, as I sign off...I hope you and your friends and family enjoy a safe and happy
 4th of July!!

Fallish days

Yesterday was officially the first full day of fall here in the states. We had a  rainy, overcast, dreary day. To me it  was one of those days you'd like to curl up on the couch and read a good book. That is about the only thing I could think of that was good about it! ha..ha..  Our big tree out the window looked like it was raining leaves. That poor thing about dropped all its leaves in one day. sad... Our brilliant green curtain has turned into an almost lacy yellow/golden one. Soon we shall be able to see our neighbors on the next street over.

This morning our friend came over and cleaned the house. It was so fun to see and visit with her! Then off we went to the dentist for a filling...however, when he got into the tooth it was cracked in two places. So....it needs to be 'crowned'...does that mean I'll be a queen??? lol

Before I end this post, I have a trivia question for you! Do you have these kind of trees where you live? If so, what do you call them? We've always called them 'cigar trees'.  (Due to those cigar looking things hanging from them.)

Hope you're having a good week!!

Dentist Day....

We went to the dentist today to have my six month cleaning done! Normally, it's not too bad, I remember the days when I dreaded going to see the dentist, of course those were the days before I could afford to go every six months. smile... Anyway, now I love seeing my hygienic, she is wonderful and so sweet. When she came out to get me she had a dear friend of ours with her that she had just finished working on...so that was fantastic to see her again!! Wish we'd have had more time to visit!

Afterwards, we went to lunch and I spotted this 'yellow' rose!!! They are coming to an end, but this was one of the healthier ones...smile...

As we were heading back into town, I spotted this train crossing the train bridge (which goes over the river), they are busy this time of the year.

I also saw these beautiful flowers..they sure have had lots of tender love and care this season. Aren't they pretty?? Tom got his drivers license renewed today, so we were glad to get that over with. smile...They make it so easy...just past an eye test and give them your money..smile...

I promised I'd show you a picture of the plant stand that Tom made, many years ago. I really love it!

Today was our granddaughter Amanda's 19th birthday!!! She lives so far away and we miss her terribly. But they love living in the south, so we're happy for them in that respect. I remember the day she was born, what a beautiful baby!! And of course look at her now...she is still...very pretty!!! smile... Love, Love, Love!!

I hope you had a wonderful day also....

Last Couple of Days....

Yesterday, when I stepped out the door, heading the the dentist..I saw this glorious sky! Don't you just love the plane flying through the sky??? On it's way...I wonder where???

Next stop...to the dentist to have my pearly whites cleaned!!! Ever notice how good they feel after their cleaned??? This is why I love Laura!!! smile...

We had record highs for the day...with temperatures hitting the 77 degree mark! We went to a potluck in the evening..and spotted this young man (in shorts) roller blading...

The potluck was everything we expected it to be! Way more food then anyone could eat, but I'm sure no one went home hungry! smile.. Tom made 'chinese coleslaw' and it was soooo good! We had a nice time and enjoyed our friends.

Oh look, I am so excited! Remember last fall when the limb broke off and down to the ground went our wren house! So, when Tom hung it again the other day on a different limb...I thought 'yeah...the wren's will have their house again this spring'!!!

We spotted these shoes today at the the Drs. office when we went for our B-12 shots. Actually, Tom couldn't believe the height of these heels...smile.. but I was looking at the lady next to her, (in the comfy shoes) who was my sister in law whom we hadn't seen for a long...long time. It was so good to see her and get a short visit in!!

After the Doctors visit, we headed to the Senior Center for our $5.00 lunch! Today, was corn beef and cabbage day!! There was so much food, we had to get two dogie boxes...so there will be plenty of leftovers at our house..smile...

I hope you have been having a good day and enjoying this spring weather! I think most of the country (except the west coast) is getting some of these nice temps. Tomorrow, we'll be going to the "Home and Garden Show"...that should be so much fun!! Spring!! Don't you love it???

Whew!!!!!!

Today was clean teeth day!!! smile... Yes, we headed out to our appointment...once again with plenty of time to spare (so we thought)....however, we hit every 'red' light there was.....(and there were lots of them)......plus we got behind a car that had their flashers going...poor guy...either his transmission was going out or something...so he was going very......slow............

When we came to almost the 'last' stop light, I saw these sunflowers, which reminded me of all of them we are seeing this year! (My dad was a farmer and I could just hear him now when asked about sunflowers!!!..ha He thought of them only as weeds!!smile....)

However...they are every where!!!

Well, we did get there a few minutes late...and they were standing at the desk waiting for me...sad.... I hate being late...but seems to be more often than not..sad...  However, I saw on Castlemountains Newsletter..that the other day was "Be late for something day"...smile.. So, I guess I chose today! smile...

How about Goldenrod? Aren't they pretty?? I always love seeing them in the Fall. I just had to have a bouquet of them!! Only thing I don't care for is they drop some yellow seeds.... smile....

We have been having a beautiful day again today. Cool...beautiful temperatures...in the low 70's...and as my son says "Your kind of weather Mom" ha... Our air conditioner was shut off yesterday, I think if things could speak...that air conditioner would have sighed a big "Whew"!!!!!!!!!!! It has been running since this spring non stop...  I slept really good last night...must have been all that fresh air!!!! smile.... How about you? Are you enjoying any good weather where you live?? I pray for all of you......... Blessings....

Since I haven't been posting to "The Many Thoughts of Grace" I figured I'd do several tonight!...

"The Many Thoughts of Grace"

November 3, 1936:
Started to make a rug. Have a terrible cold.

November 4, 1936:
Worked on my rug. Paul came home from school sick. Washed windows.

November 5, 1936:
Cleaned up the house and ironed this morning. The preacher and his wife were at grandmas. Mama and I went to Nema's shower. I gave her a chair set. I had to hand the presents to her. Mrs. Lines told me I'd be the next to marry. Was up to school. Elaine wanted me to go home with her. Delores said Mary said  I was getting to be good looking. Wondered who I went with.

November 6, 1936:
Wanted to go to school today. But the folks didn't want me to so I didn't. Mr. Johnson ate here today.
