Visitors in June

The first of June my two granddaughters, Amanda and Ashley flew in to visit me! What a fun week--(plus)...we had. I will be sharing some photos so you can see some of the places we went and things we did!

Ashley started this drawing as soon as she arrived! And finished it the day-day they left!  Soon you will understand why I put "day-day"! She drew something for everyday they were here, I love how she dated every drawing!

Sunday we went out to eat with my son Randy, Vicky and the twins, Eden and Ivy! That was so enjoyable. Everyone got to catch up on what was going on in each other's lives! And the twins got to color!!!

Then the girls and I went to the Queen of Peace, here in the city. It is an amazing place to visit.
The girls are walking up to the statue of
Immaculate Heart of Mary Queen of Peace. (Constructed of stainless steel and 30 feet tall.)

Have you ever seen something for the first time and are so moved that it brings you to tears?? That is what happened when I walked in this room and saw this sculpture.  Since it is life sized it was almost like being in this room with Jesus and the apostles. Just seeing this sculpture of The Last Supper was very moving for me. (This Life Size sculpture of the Twelve Apostles was carved by Jerry Traufler of LeMars, Iowa. It is made from Pine and Basswood, and was completed in 1993 after 7 years of work.)

There were so many gorgeous flowers in the gardens as we walked along the way.

This was the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes.  So beautiful ! Luckily the sun was shining just enough to light up the stain glass window.

This beautiful gold-tone bronze statue of St. Francis of Assisi stands at the pond near the entrance to the Outdoor Cathedral. As we stood on a bridge Ashley got into just the right position and snapped this photo! It was so moving...

Monday we got out and went to lunch at Table 32! Their Mom and I went there when she was home in March. She must have been impressed as the girls wanted to go there too. The food and service were both absolutely wonderful!

Wednesday we made it to the Farmers Market! It was a treat for me to get down there again. Tom and I used to go every Wednesday and Saturday. We knew all the vendors and absolutely loved it! Being the day and time of the year, there weren't as many vendors or fresh vegetables available. But we did get a few things. The girls got some jellys to take home.

That evening we went to my monthly potluck! Amanda made a big pan of her famous macaroni and cheese. Ashley made Snicker salad. Have you ever made it? It's with apples and snicker candy bars, Cool Whip and pudding, I believe..there was nothing left of that! Plus the mac and cheese went over really good too. Amanda froze only a couple little servings for me. When I ate the last one the other day, I told her she had to come back and make me some more....ha...ha!

The next afternoon, on Thursday, we went over to see their cousin Lacey and her girls, Lorelei and Maggie. I told them the drive (which was beautiful, by the way) was about a 45 minute one. Ashley laughed and said she drives that to work everyday!! The visit was so enjoyable! A funny thing....Lorelei ordered a root beer float off of the  "childrens menu", when it came...it was huge! When Lacey asked about it, the waitress said you should see the one off the regular menu!! Ha! That is why Ashley drew Lorelai with her BIG float!

The next afternoon we went to visit the kids aunt and uncle. They had made a nice lunch for us...and just being with them was so memorable ..for everyone.

Then Saturday came...the day of doom- for me. They were flying out in the afternoon. Ashley and Amanda made lunch for everyone. Their cousins Lacey and Wendy along with the girls. Randy and Vicky took them to the airport. Ashley said I wish we could stay another week, we are having such a good time. And oh, how I wished for that too.. well.....sometimes a persons wishes do come true...lol They left for the airport about 2:30 and were back here by 5 pm. Their flight to Chicago was cancelled due to weather ! So I got them one more night...smile...I loved it! Sunday they left the house  again at 1:30 to go to Dallas...to make a long story short...they got home in Atlanta at 4:30 Monday morning...ugggg (again due to weather!) Those poor girls... I still miss them and their Mom everyday, and hate that they live so far away. But we defiantly had a great time!!!

Can you believe tomorrow is the last day of July? Where did the summer go? "Winter" is yawning and stretching...she's ready for bed, as am I.. I hope you enjoyed this adventurous week with me.

Blessings and good night...or good morning wherever you are.

Busy Weekend

Yesterday, our weather was pretty un-predicable! Rusty was somewhat nervous I guess, he jumped into my lap and just sat there. (Which he seldom does.) So, I thought I'd do a selfie! smile...

We did go to our dinner last night. It was very nice. The food was delicious and way too much as always. It was so fun to see so many people again. Later, we kept hearing some thunder and thought "Oh no, its going to rain and storm before we leave". But, you know, you can't just leave when your on a committee. So, there was clean up and get ready for the next day. When we finally left it was just barely sprinkling! After we got home, the storm started, lightening, thunder and rain coming down like crazy!! Praise God we all made it home safely!!

Today we went to church first, then headed over for fellowship. Soon, Tom and Ray headed to WalMart to pick up the fried chicken for the potluck. (Which had been ordered and paid for.) Well, they were gone for a couple hours, I called Tom and he said WalMart said they had lost the order!!! So, they had to stand and wait for those 100 pieces of chicken to be cooked!!! sad....
Since it was a potluck, I thought about this Fruit Salad to make, but it was buried in my recipe box. It was an old recipe as you can see by the picture. smile...  It was always Tom's favorite, but I just forgot about it until the other night. (Probably because it was buried...hee...hee!) Have you ever made it?

The day was nice, but we didn't have a very big crowd. But those who were there made it all worthwhile.
Dear, dear friends.

Good News along with a Busy Day

Good morning everyone.. this is unusual for me to be posting in the morning. But last night, we had our monthly potluck and as we were leaving this is what we saw...the sun setting in the east! As always, it was fun, along with great food and wonderful fellowship.

Our day was crazy..busy! It started with hearing the results on my SIL's pet scan, which was good news. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers for her. Praise God, he is our healer isn't he??

Later on my friend stopped by and fixed my hair, we had a nice visit also. Then to the potluck!!!

We woke up late again today...will we ever get use to this time change (without setting our alarms?? LOL) I hope so anyway, I try to have a schedule in the morning which is really messed up when we sleep in.

Well, I did spot a robin up the street from us yesterday, but none in our yard. Maybe they don't like turkey doo-doo all over the yard. ha..ha.. Course I'm sure those turkeys have walked through everyone's yards up here..

How many of you follow our favorite blogger Susan Branch? She has a new post up, which is amazing as always! She also has a giveaway, that everyone I'm sure, would love to win. If you are not following her check out her blog here. She has it all, music, photos, stories, freebies and wonderful friendship with all her followers!

ROBIN ALERT! I just spotted one in our tree but missed getting a picture. Very soon there will be a first robin photo right here.. smile..

Blessings to your day.

Time Goes By.....

It seems like time goes by so...so fast. Just like this cute little (or should I say big!) turkey!! smile... But today, I finally finished the paperwork and headed over to our taxman! Yeah!! Project two (2) done!! Next will be working on our MS Walk!! We have our clown lined up! My cousin "Ditzy the Clown" will be there with all her balloons  The kids (and adults) just love her! She is amazing!! And the band confirmed tonight! Another yeah!!! My son Randy called and said "yes they will be there to entertain during and after lunch!" Now I have several other projects to work on. (Fundraising, advertising, etc... etc.. smile...)

Tom had to go over and get his 'much needed' hair cut this morning. His barber has been gone on family health issues. So, he feels really good tonight, having a fresh haircut..smile...

Yesterday, my friend Sherry came over and cleaned! smile... We had a nice visit also. That is always fun... Then last night we had our monthly potluck! That was so nice, the food was wonderful as always and there is such joy in being with friends.

I hope you all have been having a wonderful week!

Happy Valentine's Day!

"To love another person is to see the face of God!"

I hope this finds you having a blessed fun day!

Last night we went to our monthly potluck. As always it was wonderful food, (and oh..so many luscious desserts!) We had a good crowd and so much visiting going on! The weather was really nice for this time of the year...I captured this photo when we left...if you look closely you'll see the stars in the sky!! ...smile

This morning when we woke up, Tom said there was a doe going between our house and the neighbors. Pretty soon he looked out back and saw all these deer in the neighbors yard...eating some old pumpkins. I feel so sorry for them, they are hungry and eating anything they can find.

When we headed out this morning...I spotted this shot! The sun trying to break through the clouds...so pretty! "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."

Another pretty shot on our way to the doctors today.

I have to share this photo, this guy stands in this very spot all year long. When it's cold, when it's hot!!! He's advertising for Little Ceasars pizza!! They even interviewed him on TV one time!!

Our Christmas cactus is blooming like crazy again!! Tom bought this for me years ago and after the first year, it stopped blooming...for a long time. Then one year, it started blooming again and it hasn't stopped since. smile... I hope you had a beautiful Valentines day!!!

Wonderful Day Yesterday.....

Yesterday morning I woke up feeling 'oh so good and strong'... I thought wow!, I almost feel normal again...smile... When I looked out our window in the morning...I saw this funky looking cloud! Isn't it surprising, how different the clouds can be?....Not sure what creates them...but they sure are always interesting!!!

Well, like I said, I was feeling so strong yesterday...it was just amazing! I worked on some paper stuff while Tom did some yard work! Later in the afternoon we had some errands to run and head to our monthly potluck! We stopped at Wal Mart and picked up some fried chicken, I was waiting in the car and out comes Tom with the chicken along with this beautiful bouquet of flowers. Aren't they just beautiful??? He is just so....so thoughtful and loving! (Don't you just love all that 'yellow'??? sweet....)

When we got to the potluck our friend had to show me her 'rhubarb pie' she had baked. I just had to have a picture of it...smile.... and of course a piece for my dessert. Well, it turned out we had soooo much food and such a big variety and since my appetite is not what it use to be (before my strep throat), I just didn't have room for my dessert...so I brought it home  and had it today!!! smile... it was wonderful! I must get her recipe and share it with you!

Today we've had an overcast, cold rainy day.  However, we need the rain, so this is good! But, I wasn't as full as vim and vigor as I was yesterday....however, I pray I will have all the energy possible tomorrow...as it is "Red Hat" day....smile....  How was your day? Are you having a good one along with some nice weather?

Last Couple of Days....

Yesterday, when I stepped out the door, heading the the dentist..I saw this glorious sky! Don't you just love the plane flying through the sky??? On it's way...I wonder where???

Next stop...to the dentist to have my pearly whites cleaned!!! Ever notice how good they feel after their cleaned??? This is why I love Laura!!! smile...

We had record highs for the day...with temperatures hitting the 77 degree mark! We went to a potluck in the evening..and spotted this young man (in shorts) roller blading...

The potluck was everything we expected it to be! Way more food then anyone could eat, but I'm sure no one went home hungry! smile.. Tom made 'chinese coleslaw' and it was soooo good! We had a nice time and enjoyed our friends.

Oh look, I am so excited! Remember last fall when the limb broke off and down to the ground went our wren house! So, when Tom hung it again the other day on a different limb...I thought 'yeah...the wren's will have their house again this spring'!!!

We spotted these shoes today at the the Drs. office when we went for our B-12 shots. Actually, Tom couldn't believe the height of these heels...smile.. but I was looking at the lady next to her, (in the comfy shoes) who was my sister in law whom we hadn't seen for a long...long time. It was so good to see her and get a short visit in!!

After the Doctors visit, we headed to the Senior Center for our $5.00 lunch! Today, was corn beef and cabbage day!! There was so much food, we had to get two dogie boxes...so there will be plenty of leftovers at our house..smile...

I hope you have been having a good day and enjoying this spring weather! I think most of the country (except the west coast) is getting some of these nice temps. Tomorrow, we'll be going to the "Home and Garden Show"...that should be so much fun!! Spring!! Don't you love it???

Found a Puppy

I was going through some boxes the other day and found this cute little stuffed puppy! smile... I remember when my co  worker bought this for me one year for Valentines day. (He has a cute little heart hanging from his neck...) At that time we had another dog, Bandit...he was more white, with a black mussel. (thus the name Bandit...smile....) So when I saw this the other day...I thought "Oh my gosh he looks just like Rusty" Who would have known?? Check out the markings...

See the white on Rusty...the markings are almost the same as the puppy... uncanny.... I plan on printing these two photos and sending them to her...I hope she gets a laugh out of it! smile... (She just lost her husband this month and sometimes I think these things happen for a reason...) Funny...this box has sat out in the garage for 3 years without us looking in it. And just out of the blue we thought we'd check it for something else...

I did a little more exercising today on my step machine... I did 6 minutes this morning and feel okay tonight... I think if I get back up to 10 minutes, I can do that in the morning then do a few more minutes in the afternoon. We'll see how it goes!!! smile... Of course we always stretch afterwards...remember "The ball, the band and the coffee can?" smile...

I worked on the tax info again today, and have everything ready to take to the tax man Friday!! smile... Then I'll be done for another year!!! Yeah!!

Tomorrow, we have our monthly potluck...I thought since it's winter...smile...and is to be 'cold' (23 for a high) we should make some soup to take. Tom found a recipe for "Lotsa Beans Chili"...smile... He found it in a "Fix-It and Forget-It Cookbook" we bought...many years ago. I will share the recipe tomorrow night and let you know if it was delicious...smile...

My daughter-in-love is in Georgia visiting my daughter tonight...I'm sure there is lots of good visiting going on in that house tonight...smile... Wish I could be there with them...someday....maybe we can 'twinkle our nose' and go where ever we want to...smile...

Be sure and check out the giveaways on my left column... One from The Prairie Flower Farm and one from The Rusty Thimble!

Blessings and hope you had a great day!!
