Where Did Summer Go?

This was the view we had when Randy took me to the eye doctor. Turned out the last shot didn’t work so he put a pellet in it which should work for 3 months. Time will tell. Also today I found out I have to have eye surgery in the morning on my other eye. Uggg

One Sunday, Randy and Vicky invited me and Vicky’s mom, Sue over for supper. Vicky had made some amazing soup and Sue brought some chocolate zucchini bread she had made. Everything was wonderful !!! This is their cat “Smokey”, isn’t he handsome?? He found the perfect spot to sit and visit with me!! Ha Ha !!! His brother Bandit was not as outspoken! 😁

Last week I had company. Tom’s son (on the right) and his husband were in town visiting friends and family and were nice enough to stop by. Better yet, they brought muffins from Perkins restaurant!!! No, that was so thoughtful of them. We had a nice visit. They live in Orlando, Florida. They have two dogs, like Rusty. Both, same breed, age (about) and boys!!! They didn’t want to leave them at home. I didn’t get to see them (other than pictures) but thought that would have something Tom & I would have done with Rusty.

Here is Lorelai , my oldest great granddaughter already for her first day of school!! Isn’t she ‘oh so pretty’?

And look at Eden and Ivy!! Their first day of school!! Aren’t they just the cutest things you ever saw??

Lorelai just had a birthday and last weekend they all went to the state fair. Look at the stuffed animals they won! The big ones, (dad won) are like over 6’ tall—can you even imagine?? The smaller pink one, Lorelai won!! I’m sure she had a great birthday weekend!!

I always have to end with a new picture of “Winter”...so here we are!!

Bye for now💛

This and That

We spotted this kitty the other day, when we were looking at those pretty purple tulips! Isn't the white ring around his tail cute?? At first he was sitting enjoying the sun..but as soon as he saw us..he decided to move on.

Mr. Robin was primping himself after a shower in the birdbath! They are so fun to watch. I told Tom, sometimes when the rain fills the birdbath, they don't seem to get in it. However...I have seen them wash up in a mud puddle...ha...ha!

I just think that Morning Dove's are such a pretty bird. Normally, there are always two of them. A male and a female. And their song is so pretty.

Tom was sitting by the window yesterday and he said, 'there's a rabbit, by the birdbath!' And sure enough there he was, just sitting and watching what was going on around him.

Today a friend of ours stopped over for a visit. Earlier this morning I was sitting out on the front porch visiting with our neighbor and along came the garbage truck! My friend was on that truck. We hollered at each other across the driveway! He even brought our garbage can/tote up to the house for us. (bless him.) Later when he came to visit, I had made some copies of his wedding photos. They were married 5 years ago and had lost the photos that they had. He was so excited to see the ones that I had.

Off to the dentist tomorrow morning! I need a filling! Wish me luck...

Tom's Monitor

Last week we headed out on a very cold windy day to the hospital, where Tom had to be fitted with another heart monitor. I thought well we've got this one, we've done it before and know  all the problems. (ha) Of course we had new ones. eeks... One of his tabs kept coming off. (It all started at the hospital!) It came off when we were there and she just stuck it back on (there are 4 tabs). Around 9:30 at night, it came off again and was just hanging there. So I called the 'help' line again (I had called them earlier) so they said I had to remove 'all' the tabs and replace them. GREAT! You have to place them in specific areas!! Finally got that done, all went well during the night. She (hospital) said he'd only have to wear it 24 hours this time. At the end of this time frame, I took it off of him, turned the phone off. Then I remembered last time, I had to remove the batteries before we mailed it. So, one more time, I called the help line...and he said "you have to plug in the phone next to the recording unit for 24 hours!"  We were never told that. However, the good news is when we had to mail it back, we spotted a mail lady and she took it...saved us going to the post office and standing in line...

Yesterday, we had to go to the doctor for Tom's monthly check up. (A different issue) Afterwards, we stopped at Red Robin for lunch. I spotted this photo, isn't it cool?? They added popcorn to the photo! We had a positive and a negative experience. Best thing though...the burger was great!!

After we did a little shopping, we headed over to get Tom's hair cut. The river looked really calm. Love the geese flying overhead!

And a nice farm scene..

I spotted a flicker in the air the other day and  when I took a closer look, the nest had a plastic bag woven into it. Unbelievable..... What are your thoughts on doing away with plastic bags? I think it would be a good idea. Just won't be as convenient.

I also spotted this cute little cat. Not sure what he was after in that basket. But eventually he must have got what he was after...as he sauntered down the walk. smile...

Hope you're having a good weekend and not like ours..cold and snowy!!!

Labor Day Weekend...

I took this picture one day last week...always think it is so pretty! Soon the trees will turn from green to beautiful fall colors. So....beautiful!!

Yesterday, Tom labored on Labor Day! smile.. He was so busy...first he edged all the sidewalks and all the curbs. (They look so nice!) Then he mowed all the yard, which as we know is a "Big" yard. But the weather had cooled down, so was nice to get out and do some yard work.

Funny...Tom spotted this cat climbing the tree...what happened to cats being afraid once they get up in a tree and can't come down?? smile...

Also, yesterday we were having an electric problem. A fuse kept blowing, so we called our friend who is an electrician to see if he could come up this week and take a look at  it. Well...he said "I'll be right there"...which we felt bad about...but he insisted! He found the problem and fixed it. He is such a wonderful man, and says helping his friends is his mission in life. sweet... He said he and his wife had been canning tomatoes and described her process. It sounded way too easy. He had her call me when he got home. She just put the tomatoes in the jars, and put them in a cold oven, then turned it on to 250 degrees for 2 hours...shut it off and removed them in the morning! So, I thought that was easy---but once I Googled it and they said it wasn't approved...as they didn't think they got hot enough to kill the bacteria. So, we decided it wouldn't work for us...darn... Have any of you tried doing this with your canning? What are your thoughts??

Today was so busy...we took our glasses down to have the new lenses put in, and were suppose to pick them back up this afternoon. But there were other errands to run, then got too late. So hopefully, we'll get them tomorrow morning! I pray they work good and we don't have to have them readjusted.

I hope you had an amazing weekend..

Fall is in the air.....

Yesterday, Tom spotted all these robins trying to get a drink at the leaf laden bird bath. They must be thinking of their trip they'll be taking south pretty soon.

I spotted the neighborhood cat hiding under our grill...I feared he/she  was trying to catch one of our birds..sad... And of course there was a Papa cardinal...in the tree...thinking about hopping down and getting something to eat.. (I was so afraid for the birds...) then the next time I looked out...the cat was snoozing "on" the grill while the birds were flittering around the feeder. smile... So, apparently the cat wasn't really interested in the birds.....smile....

Doesn't he/she look comfortable??? smile....

Today, we headed to my doctors appointment for a check up, it sure is obvious that fall is in the air here. The trees are turning, the leaves are falling and yes....Fall is in the air!!!

After the doctors visit, we stopped for lunch. I found a coupon in the newspaper yesterday for Applebee's, buy one burger, get one free! We just couldn't pass that up...lol We made a decision, when we go back (without a coupon) we'll buy one burger and split it!! I brought half of mine home with fries, Tom had it for supper.. smile...

After dinner, we did some more running around, lots of errands we needed to run. Always good to get caught up on things that need to be done!!! smile... We stopped by our friends store, both of them came out to the car to visit with me...sweet....Later this week, we may stop up there again and I will go in and buy some fun items!!! Our daughter Brenda and the granddaughters loved shopping at this store when they were here last year! Speaking of Brenda, tomorrow I will share with you some visitors she has been having on her deck... until then............good night.........

Look What I Saw Today....

I spent most of my day on the phone taking care of  different things.  Surprising how much time goes by when "I" get on the phone...smile... I guess I love to visit..smile... As I was working in my office I saw a flutter in the tree just outside my window. Then I realized it was a Baltimore Oriole! So, I turned my camera on...and zip he was gone.  Bummer....  So I went on the web and found this picture, just so I could show 'you' how pretty he was.

The new bird feed we got the other day I am thinking is what might have brought the Oriole to our feeder. We got a block that contains 'fruit' along with the regular bird seed. Even the woodpecker likes it...smile....

We had one more 'hot' day, heat indexes reached 101 degrees...sad... Tomorrow the highs should only reach the 80's...so I'm smiling...we will go shopping, I hope! This pic is of the neighbor's cat..resting under the barrel of flowers... just had to share... Tom just said it was lightning north of us...maybe we'll get some rain...pray..pray..pray!  Good night.........
