My Week In Review

Last Saturday the 18th, my son took me grocery shopping and I picked up this Shamrock plant (which was on sale of course!). I just have to smile every time I look at it! In the morning, the flowers open up! Then at night they close.. Guess they know when to wake and when to sleep...smile...

On our way to the store, look what we spotted... traffic stop!! "Why did the turkeys cross the road?" "Because the chickens did"!! LOL (they were probably going over to my house!!) I have lots more pictures of them, which I will share in another post!

The next day, it was 79 degrees! I sat out front on the porch for a change. I just had to let Rusty out too. I hooked his leash handle to the leg of my chair. Well, it worked really good, but he wasn't able to go very far, so I don't think he was too happy with it.  I'm sure he'd have like to have gone over in that grass!!

Monday I went to physical therapy. I'm going to see if I can get some exercises, that I can do at home (by myself) that can give me more strength in my back. Tom and I used to try and exercise me everyday. Most of them I can't do anymore. Even though I have the table you need a therapist to help. (Tom was a therapist too...smile..) He wore many hats.. But anyway...I'll be going back again this week.

By Tuesday, it was snowing...so figure!! ha!! But it didn't last and was gone by the afternoon.

My friend stopped over this week and gave me some supplies and ideas for a craft project that I plan to make for Christmas this year!! I, hopefully will get them done, that is 9 months away...ha! ha!

Wednesday's are normally always my day to get my hair fixed. Which I love!! She stopped over to do that, and we had a nice visit!! Then another friend came for lunch and we had a lot to catch up on!

Thursday was a catch up day....just doing a little of everything around here.

Friday morning we had Bible Study. Did I tell you I was having it here?? What wonderful fellowship. There are only 6 of us...which really is just perfect. (fills my front room and my heart!) Then in the afternoon, a friend went with me and I had to get my yearly mammogram!! Ugggg... But it's done and just got the good results in the mail yesterday!! (big smile) Do you get one every year?? It seems like I've done it forever.... I was surprised when I recognized the lady who did it. I believe she did some of my first ones I ever had. (I know she didn't recognize me...why would she?? I'm sure she sees lots of women in a day!!) Anyway, I was asking her about her son, I remembered he was in the military, if he retired or was still in. She said, no, he was out. But that the last tour they sent him on was bad. (So, I didn't push it...sounded like he was having a hard time...so ...sad..) My prayers are with them.

Well...it is bed time and I will do another one, hopefully tomorrow and tell you all about this week...then you'll finally be caught up on my life!! smile...

Blessings and good night..

Spring, Friends and Birds

Here we are, my best friend and me. We've known each other since grade school. And have some great memories to share, along with the new memories we are making today. (She is and always has been such a beautiful lady.) We went to lunch and "almost" solved all the worlds problems...lol You know, like only women can do. smile...

Our weather started off overcast and cool today. But by the time we came home it was sunny and a little bit warmer. However, I saw on the news tonight, that across the state they had heavy snowfall. Say what??? It's spring (isn't it?? lol) Well, at least it seems to be here. We really need rain and are suppose to get some tonight. Sure hope so. How about you? What is your weather like...are you seeing more signs of spring at your house?? My favorite part of the day is when we wake in the morning, open the door to let Rusty out and hear the wren's singing their songs. I had almost forgot how beautiful and joyful that sound can be. Then I have my coffee and read the Family Circus cartoon in the paper and I have my morning laugh...which I just have to share with my hubby! Now that is how you start a day...birds singing, coffee, and a good laugh. How do you start your day??

Busy Cold Day

We headed off this cold morning to see Tom's heart doctor! (Remember he had to wear the heart monitor??) He added another medicine for him and wants him to wear another heart monitor in 3 months!

Afterwards we went out to a drive in for a loose meat for lunch. Tom has missed going there. So, that's what we did...lol (Made his day!) Oh, yes and he also got some of their famous onion chips. (I didn't have any of them, as they are way too greasy...lol)

We stopped and bought some suet............our birds (and squirrels) have eaten everything we had!! So we'll see how happy they are tomorrow!

We had other appointments and by the time we got home I was 'tired'............ Tom then had to take Karen to an appointment she had. Poor guy, he had a busy one and I think ready for bed.

Tomorrow will be another busy one...  Guess that is good. The weekend is to be warmer, then back to the deep freeze! The Farmers Almanac  said it was suppose to be bitter cold here this winter and I guess they were right, at last its started out that way. (But thank God we're not having the snow that Buffalo is having...my prayers are with them.)

Weather and Appointments Day...

We had to take the van in to be serviced this morning. We gave ourselves plenty of time to get there. However, I always fear the inevitable...traffic jams, red lights, construction....etc.. to make a person late!! The one thing I forgot about was the train!! Yep, there was a train!!! However, it was almost finished going by, when we got there (2 blocks away..) which meant, we had to slowly get through the next light...since there were so many cars ahead of us...!! THEN we got on the interstate and this is what we saw...slow traffic due to the construction! But, we got there on time!

They gave us a van to drive while they worked on ours. So eventually we headed out to lunch. Since our son and his wife gave us a gift certificate to Applebee's for Christmas so that's where we went. The meal started off with a house salad, which by the way was very good! Tom got the riblets and I had the chicken pasta. Oh yes and we had some raspberry ice tea. Well...knowing us...the first thing, I spilled a little of the tea on my 'white' pants...eeks!! So....I reached into my 'big' purse that always has lots of stuff in it for one of those wipes...and viola the stain was gone. Soon after, Tom dropped some barbeque sauce on his shirt!! Well, it worked for him too!!! Does this ever happen to you?? Well, Shout it Out really worked for me!!

Our skies looked really bad as the afternoon went on. I had a doctors appointment and was glad when we headed home. Luckily we made it in time, as the skies opened up and dumped lots of rain... We were so fortunate that was all we had. Not far away they had baseball size hail and up to 100 mph winds..sad...

Later on, the rain quit and the car shop called and said the van was done, and there was about an hour window between rain systems. We headed out and thank goodness made it in time and really felt good to have our van home, safe and sound in the garage! The next system wasn't as bad as the first. But we're having more rain, thunder and lightning! So, it's time to head to bed!!

Good night and stay safe!

Anyone remember the Can-Can's?

Yesterday we met with my girlfriend for lunch and chatter...smile... We had lots of things to talk about from present day activities to memories of when we were in school... She laughed (so did I) as she remembered that my Mom put my 'can-can' in the oven to dry it. ha..ha.. I don't remember that...however...I do remember the 'can-can's' that is for sure. Did any of you, have one or remember them? I may do a blog posting on that later...

There is that neighborhood kitty that bothers Rusty so much and so often..smile.. We all agree that we would love to have this cat! He is so pretty and enjoys coming over to visit our yard (and to bug Rusty..lol) See how he blends in with all those leaves?? Well, after today--his camouflage is all gone! Tom was busy mowing today and I'm sure it will be the last time with year!

"All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever." 1Peter 1:24-25

I spotted the last of our flowers today!! I'm surprised they survived our hard freeze we had the other night...but they did..smile... Their really leggy and almost leafless, but still putting on some pretty blooms. Are your flowers coming to an end also?

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend..

August is here...

Don't you just love these zinnias? Such beautiful summer/fall colors. Kind of like August...summer...heading into fall.

I also love these red zinnias along with mostly yellow and lavender flowers!

We had lots of running to do today and these are some of the sites we saw.. Flag half staff in honor of our local Col. Bud Day, who passed away this week. A man riding a kids bike...then there were real bikers heading up the highway, we assume headed to Sturges, SD! And last another shot of our Missouri river.

When we went to eat, I spotted this pay phone...wow, I didn't realize they even had them anymore!! Do you remember them? That was the way to communicate years ago. Then there is an Indian head carved into this local building, more often than not, people never see it unless they are made aware of it. Beautiful. The old fire truck, used to advertise a local business! Sure gets ones attention! And the heart center where we went for Tom today, has the gopher holding a heart! One year the Art Center artist created these for different businesses around town. They are so cool. I will get a collage one day of them for you to see. Most of them have disappeared and replaced with something else I'm sorry to say.

And this one was for fun! Someday, we must stop at the Boutique and see exactly what women want...lol And of course more flowers...this is the time of year they are all in full bloom.

I am still trying to get my laptop working properly...can not wait till it's back to normal!

Wishing you an amazing August!

Blessed SONday

What a lovely day we had today! We finally were able to go to church again! The word was on "forgiveness"..and after listening to the scripture...it continues to amaze me how forgiving our God is to all of us. This is how we are to live our lives, but most of us don't, we hold grudges, we have a hard time forgiving not only big but also the littlest things.  Just think of a life where everyone forgave others!! It sure was nice to see everyone and to have fellowship with them!

After we went out for lunch we went for a drive! We went by this little cove...and saw this man and his son fishing... (perfect day for it, even if you don't catch anything...smile...) Also, I just love wild flowers, don't you?

Just loved seeing this farm with their horses!! Well cared for and some beauties! I had rolled my window down to get these pictures..and the smell of horses just filled my nostrils, I was filled with some wonderful memories!! Have you ever had that happen to you?

I spotted these beautiful flowers! I told Tom, someone in that house had a green thumb! All theses pretty flowers along with many in their driveway, front of their house..just everywhere! Pure Godliness! smile...

I hope you had a blessed day!

In the Good Ole Summertime...

Remember my cousin Glendena and her husband who came to visit us last year?? Her and I spent many a summer together when we were teenagers at her home in Missouri! Her husband restored this John Deere tractor and they drive it in their  hometown parade every year! As hot as it was this year, I'm sure they really appreciated the umbrella! smile.... Have any of you been in a parade?? I think it would be so fun!! I was suppose to be in our local one, when one of our ladies had a Red Hat convertible...but it was way to "hot" for this Red Hatter who has MS...sad....

Do you remember this beautiful flower that he made for me?? Glendena told him he needed Red Hat colors...red and purple! smile... Isn't it just the neatest lawn ornament you've ever seen??

Yesterday, it took us awhile to get up and get going, but finally around noon we headed out in our opressive heat. We went to Chilies for lunch as I had a free coupon for this dessert!! (Sorry I forgot to take a before picture....but it was amazing!!) I love Chilies...we usually get the Bottomless Soup and Salad, they also give you chips and dip. So....you never go away hungry...lol

Next we went to a store to get Rusty some new treats. We finally found some that are made in the USA instead of China, so we like to give him one of those every day. Then off to WalMart to get Tom some treats (lol) peppermint candies! However, when we came in the door...there were some Hostess Twinkies and Cup Cakes! My favorite are the cupcakes, so I got my 'treat' too...smile...

Then off to Sam's Club...to restock our supplies! Boy, I'm not sure how Tom got everything into the van...especially in the heat! And we have to remember, every time (expect for the restaurant)  he had to get my scooter in and out of the van! Bless his heart! But for me it was so nice to get out and about, it's been a long time! smile...

Today was just kind of  a laid back one...which was good since it was another 90 degree day!! Summer is definitely here! My prayers are with all those suffering from this heat throughout the country.....

The Day Before Tomorrow...

I just had to share these photos of our little Lorelai..smile... We've missed seeing what she's been up to! She was busy today with her Mommy and Daddy... (the little picture of her sleeping looks soooo much like her Mommy at this age...)

I looked out the window this morning and spotted this robin!! This was the only photo I was able to snap before he flew off, so not real clear...but I just had to share it! It was raining this morning and we all know how robins love the rain!!!

Then Tom looked out front and the neighbors yard was full of turkeys!! Guess they were looking for a little something to eat..smile... Then he said look at the deer running up the street!!! I saw one, but by the time we got the camera they were gone........ Then he said...did you say we live in the CITY? ha..ha...

We headed off to do lunch and some shopping. We stopped at the Mexican restaurant for nachos. There wasn't any cars in front, so we thought it wouldn't be busy...'wrong'....everyone parked in the back, ha..ha.. so it was very busy!! (I saw that little guy eating a burrito which looked huge! But doesn't look that big in the picture.)

We went to the pet store to get Rusty some dog food and these were a few sites I saw when we were there.  A little bird in a bush, a small dog that was so excited his master had just bought him some new treats..And well I'm really not sure what that bus was...ha..

Hope you all had a wonderful day and are looking forward to a blessed SONday! We are having snow right now...and are to get a few inches..sad... So we made the decision to stay home tomorrow and watch church on television. Good night everyone...

Fun Day...

We had a lazy morning...then off we went to have Tom's hearing aides checked out. It seems time flies by or maybe it takes us longer to do things. smile... Anyway by the time we headed out of the house it was around 2, we hadn't eaten dinner and had to stop at McDonald's for a hamburger. We pulled up in the parking lot to eat, Tom looked in the sack and there was only one burger in it. So....Tom went back up to the window and told them..and got the other burger!! (Always when you're in a hurry!!

I got to visit with my sister and brother in law while Tom went next door to the hearing aid man. We had  a nice visit! When Tom came over, Lela had dessert for us. (Wish I had taken a picture of it....) She fixed a chocolate brownie, vanilla ice cream, whipping cream with a cherry on top! Oh yes, it was yummmy.. smile...

Then we headed back to the city, and stopped for a short shopping venture at Sam's Club as we were going by. There was a couple other stops we had to make (one being picking up the newsletters) and this was the sun going down as we finally headed home...

By now you must know Tom is feeling better, both his knee and his tummy!! (thank goodness!) And thank all of you for your prayers and comments, they mean a lot to us. We hope your day was as blessed as ours was!

Yesterday......

Yesterday...we headed out to go and get a perm! As we were leaving the city, the sun was trying to break through the clouds and fog cover!

However as we got closer to the river you could start to fog cover moving in.

As we sped down the highway we could see more and more fog.

As you can see the fog just got worse and worse...to the point of not being able to see the vehicles ahead of us or coming toward us! And it was so surprising how many cars didn't have their lights on... eeks... I told Tom I think that was the longest 7 miles we've ever driven!! smile... I know I was doing a lot of praying to keep us safe.

If you've followed my blog for awhile you've seen this little 'red' barn/building...oh so bright and pretty...but yesterday you could barely make it out!!

But finally we crossed the bridge and off to our friends home... "whew!" (Thank you Jesus)

And into her yard we go...

Afterwards, we stopped up town at the little cafe for lunch. She had Hot Beef as one of her specials...of course we couldn't say no to that! smile... Normally, when we go to a cafe they don't make the gravy from scratch...so I (of course) asked her if there was MSG in the gravy?? She said, I make it with corn starch...I said Oh you don't use a mix?? She gave me a look..like "yuck"... no way... I make my own...smile... So we said we'll each have one!!! smile... (By the way...it was delish!!!)

Our trip home was much better... we could even see the cows grazing in the pasture! smile...

Then of course when we got home we got to see our sweet little Great Grandbabies!! Speaking of babies...over at the Prairie Flower Farm blog...she is having baby chicks hatching...it is so sweet to watch them peck through the eggs! Also, she is making cards from her photos she takes around the farm and is selling them.

Hope you had a blessed day!
