Blessed SONday

After lunch my girlfriend came over with an apple pie from Perkins! This month their restaurant is selling their pies for $7.99! She told Mary if she bought the slices they would run $2.99 a piece. So, the pie was a great buy. We love having our pie and coffee on the Sunday’s when her husband has to work. We solve or try to solve most of the worlds problems-if only they’d listen to us😁

I had ordered this cup (which I used today!!) from Susan Branch’s website. I love them, especially these big ones!!! I only have 3 now as they are pricey but got one for Christmas and Winter last year.

There was a nuthatch on the feeder today. Do you have them ?? I love how they normally eat upside down.  Strange little characters !!! But that is how they forage for their food...going up and down the tree branches.

Speaking of birds... my friend and caregiver, who works as a lunch lady created this for whackey hair days at school. Isn’t she just adorable ??? I can’t remember what her kids had but they were cute too!!

Time for bed...

Bye for now .....

Look at Lorelai...

Look at our sweet little Lorelai..she was visiting her Grandma Vicky...all dressed in her designer motorcycle jacket and boots..ha..ha.. Her Mommy didn't mention "designer" on her description of this picture, but that is what they look like to me..

She is growing so fast...hard to believe it...am sure she was reading a story to her Grandma...ha..ha.. See the book??

I know this is short...but just had to share this photo with you! I hope you've had a wonderful SONday...our weather was beautiful with sunshine and nice temps, but we weren't able to get out. I did find some of my old photos and scanned them. I will try to post a few of them now and then.  What did you do today??

Blessings to your night...

Blessed SONday

What a lovely day we had today! We finally were able to go to church again! The word was on "forgiveness"..and after listening to the scripture...it continues to amaze me how forgiving our God is to all of us. This is how we are to live our lives, but most of us don't, we hold grudges, we have a hard time forgiving not only big but also the littlest things.  Just think of a life where everyone forgave others!! It sure was nice to see everyone and to have fellowship with them!

After we went out for lunch we went for a drive! We went by this little cove...and saw this man and his son fishing... (perfect day for it, even if you don't catch anything...smile...) Also, I just love wild flowers, don't you?

Just loved seeing this farm with their horses!! Well cared for and some beauties! I had rolled my window down to get these pictures..and the smell of horses just filled my nostrils, I was filled with some wonderful memories!! Have you ever had that happen to you?

I spotted these beautiful flowers! I told Tom, someone in that house had a green thumb! All theses pretty flowers along with many in their driveway, front of their house..just everywhere! Pure Godliness! smile...

I hope you had a blessed day!

Another Blessed SONday...

This is what we spotted this morning as the sun began to rise in the east! What a beautiful beginning to our SONday! We watched church on TV this morning, since I'm still not up to making it to church..sad... However, God puts his word into our home each SONday, but we miss our church family and services.

Last night I finally finished working on the quarterly newsletter I put out. I had our friend proof read it a couple days ago, I told her I only had a few more things to put in it...but was so happy to have the majority of it proof read. Then the next day, I wasn't feeling too good, and laid down and slept a several hours...so that shot that day..lol Anyway, yesterday I talked to Kinko's and sent it off to them (via e-mail)...it seemed within a minute of sending it...I thought about an article I had typed from a lovely lady and had planned on putting it in this newsletter.. BUT it wasn't there..."Oh my, where was it?" I had noted on her article she'd written that it had been typed...but it wasn't in the file..sad... So I called Kinko's back and had them put a hold on printing it. I searched my computer and finally found it...(yeah) so I had to remove an article and place this one in it...(whew) Off the revised copy went...(big smile...) We picked them up late this afternoon, so hopefully after we go to the doctor tomorrow afternoon, we'll get them stamped and sent off..(a month late..but like I told Tom I really lost a whole month when I was in the hospital and nursing home for rehab!)

When we went out the other day (I'm assuming to one of our doctors..) we spotted this lady out hoeing her corn. Looks like she'll have a good crop!

Then on the other side of town I spotted this cotton tail!! (Now I see why they call them 'cotton tail'!) And I'm sure that lady up above is glad this bunny is on the other side of town....ha..ha..

I just have to end this post with a quote from our granddaughter Ashley..."I told Ben the other day that being married made me feel so "grown up"...then we chased the ice cream man down the street today. We will always be a couple of big kids lol" How sweet is that?? That is the right attitude to have as they begin their new life together..smile...

Hope you had a blessed SONday!!

SONday...Monday...

Yesterday morning this is the sunrise we saw. I just love to see them every morning and thank our Lord for it! It's funny...soon it will move across the horizon..smile... This winter it was way off to the right and now with spring approaching it has moved farther north! Do you ever watch this happen when you're driving to work each morning? I use to be really annoyed when it would move over and I'd have it shining directly in my eyes..ha..ha..

We went to church (yeah!) yesterday...it was so nice to have good weather and for us to both feel good enough to go!! Afterwards, they had a Potato Bake with all sorts of toppings, along with desserts! It was amazing, best of all was the fellowship with our friends! (I didn't get photos of that..) but afterwards here are some sites we saw while heading home! Check out that dog..(guess what he was heading for...ha..) being walked by his master.. We got the van washed, which it was in dire need of. When we saw that orange...and yellow house..I thought, I'm sure everyone would like one of them.. smile.. And last but not least, I love these old gas pumps in this yard! I personally do not remember them, but I've heard a lot about them and love to see them!!

Today, we spotted this little guy running up and down the branch...looking for something! Probably, insects? I'm not sure...but fun to watch!

Tom made the Brown Sugar Glazed Salmon and Sweet Potato fries for lunch. It was really good!! Course I love salmon, which is good for a person...and who doesn't just love sweet tater fries? smile...
If you noticed..I linked the recipe to my recipe page! Yeah! I finally figured out how to do it!! Later, I will update some of the other recipes and load them on that page. How exciting is this? (Wish I had done that with The Many Thoughts of Grace.) Maybe.....when I have some extra time...smile...

I had to make an appointment with my therapist again..as my leg is dealing me a fit! sad.... I've got to get fixed up by Friday as we're hoping to go the annual Garden Show!!! Remember---Wednesday is the first day of Spring!! smile...

Hope you're having a good week!

The Day After...

Well, look at what we woke up to this morning.....ugggg... Our church was cancelled due to all the snow. But we did enjoy the word on television. smile..

Rusty was like...what is all of this white stuff????

But all in all everything (including the tomato cages) looked pretty.

Our little shed was all covered too...soon Tom will be getting all the 'spring' stuff out of this one including the lawn mower!! smile...

Our neighbors yard looked so pretty, with his flag of color flying in the wind...

In the summer, we see our neighbors down below talking across this red fence! smile... reminds me of days gone by.

This afternoon we watched Part 1 of the History Channels "The Bible" and will DVR the second part tonight. Have you been watching it? It's really an amazing show.

Hope you are in for a blessed week...

Sunny Day...

Yesterday morning, the view out our window was beautiful!

The cardinal looked so pretty against the white of snow. They certainly couldn't hide!! smile...

By the shadows falling against the snow, it's evident that the sun was shining brightly isn't it? And of course..who doesn't just love the sparkles on the snow??? Yes, there was a lot of melting going on even though we only had a high of 24 degrees. The snow was sliding off the roof and off the awnings..smile...  And there was ice cycles hanging from the roof...  (sorry I forgot to take pictures of them..)  Today we spent the day resting and choose to stay home due to the cold and snow. Tom's knee is slowly getting better, but he is still limping around. Apparently the anti inflammatory drug is starting to work. (Praise God!)

Hope you had a blessed SONday and are looking forward to a good week.

Old Buildings....

Remember, I told you I'd share these pictures of the buildings we spotted when we made our trip to South Dakota last week?? First, I thought this was a beautiful one!!! It's The First Baptist Church...

We then went into the town of Volin, SD..where Tom's great Grandparents lived and raised their family.

This is their Town Hall...smile... Old, but kind of pretty....as it's painted silver and blue.

This is the old school house. Isn't it ever so cool?? I wish we could have gone inside it to see what it looked like.

Tom remembers the Volin Bank, which was up the street from his Great Grandmothers house. I believe someone must be either living in it, or has decorated it as a museum piece. smile... (Look at all the wood piled up along side the building...and the blue door!!

Today, we were both very tired, I'm assuming from all our travels last week...tomorrow I will tell you how God played a role in our Saturday...smile... Blessings and I hope you had a wonderful SONday!

Dogs..Dogs and more Dogs...

Yesterday our day lilies started to bloom... they are so pretty..amazing how they return year after year!! smile... Just another one of God's wonders...

Our granddaughter was telling us about a sunfish they caught and put in their fish tank along with their other fish. Here is their dog...Riley watching them...smile... isn't this just the funniest photo?? smile... Papa Tom told them they need to be careful that Riley doesn't tip the tank over! They had already thought about this and keep the door shut when their not in the room. I guess he puts his nose up to the glass, he's so mesmerized by them...

I just had to slip this photo of Rusty in... He was outside with me the other day...smile... I think he was wanting to go in...

Look at what we spotted today...isn't this just a riot?? The best part is the dog of course...isn't he cute?? Look at the goggles on him...aren't they just the funniest??? (Long story on how we got this shot...we were on our way to the Red Lobster for lunch with our church family when I spotted these people...but I missed the opportunity to take a picture of them. So...we let them pass us on the interstate...then Tom pulled up beside them so I could take this picture...lol)

Then we spotted this on our way home... "Overcoming Evil with Good"...(Romans 12:21) Perfect shot on SONday!

I thought I should end this blog posting by showing you how we used our fresh rosemary! Tom fried pork chops yesterday and threw a sprig or two of rosemary in the pan. We enjoyed the flavor very much! smile.... How do you use fresh rosemary??

Did you have a nice SONday?? How did you enjoy it??

"The Many Thoughts of Grace"

June 1, 1939: I'm sure this will always be remembered as the happiest day of our wedded life. Francis Eugene was born at 12:00. He was born backward. Dr. Comney didn't get here in time.

*This was the last diary entry for the year 1939.
