Winter-Winter-Winter!

 

Winter..winter..winter, yes, it's back. We were to go to a doctors appointment this morning, but it was too windy. Yes, we had cold temps, with gusts of wind at a rate of around 53 mph today! It was overcast all day, so it was gloomy....and depressing, if you know what I mean. 

 

However...just as the day was ending...I saw the sun shining onto our trees in the backyard...one of a sites I get to see everyday out our window. Makes me smile when this happens.

 

 

About this time Rusty needed out...so as I looked west, I saw the sun setting amongst the clouds....  Our night has gotten colder and the winds 'did not' go down with the sun (like it does sometimes...)

 

 

Early this morning, I got a text from my daughter that said and I quote! "Took a water taxi to lunch!" I said..."you're killing me..." lol   Here we are, cold, windy and having a few flurries in the air!

She's in Orlando, with her husband who is there on company business! I'm sure it's a beautiful city! I must remind her to send me some postcards.... As my cousin knows, I love postcards, she sent me one recently from Charleston, SC...beautiful place to visit!...(These help me feel like I'm traveling all over the world. smile...)

More Pictures...

Yesterday, when we were traveling to visit little Lorelai and her Mommy, this was one of the curves we went around...smile... Can you see the rumble bars in the center of highway?? Those are so you don't cross over into the other lane as you make the turn... We had never seen (or heard) them before... however, it is a great idea!!

When we went to lunch yesterday, I took this picture of Lorelai wondering where her Mommy was...smile...and making sure she returned to the table...

And these pictures are of her playing with her toys and showing us some of them!! Sweetness....

Today we finally, shut the air conditioning off and opened the windows! Yeah!! I called and we're having our pilot light lit in our fireplace tomorrow...that will feel "oh so good on those chilly mornings"...that are in our forecast.

Old Buildings....

Remember, I told you I'd share these pictures of the buildings we spotted when we made our trip to South Dakota last week?? First, I thought this was a beautiful one!!! It's The First Baptist Church...

We then went into the town of Volin, SD..where Tom's great Grandparents lived and raised their family.

This is their Town Hall...smile... Old, but kind of pretty....as it's painted silver and blue.

This is the old school house. Isn't it ever so cool?? I wish we could have gone inside it to see what it looked like.

Tom remembers the Volin Bank, which was up the street from his Great Grandmothers house. I believe someone must be either living in it, or has decorated it as a museum piece. smile... (Look at all the wood piled up along side the building...and the blue door!!) 

Today, we were both very tired, I'm assuming from all our travels last week...tomorrow I will tell you how God played a role in our Saturday...smile... Blessings and I hope you had a wonderful SONday!

Ugly Pumpkins.....

Yesterday, we had a couple errands to run...and look at what we found!!! smile... We stopped at a farm stand to buy some sweetcorn! I spotted these 'ugly pumpkins', so I got of the van and asked her..what are these pumpkins?? She said, their called 'ugly pumpkins'...last year, someone asked her husband to raise them...so he did, and guess what?? They are selling like hot cakes...smile... And of course I had to buy one and it is adorning our front porch!!! Have you seen them?? Would you buy one??

We stopped by our friends shop and loved the fall flowers outside their shop!

And here are some of the items that I spotted inside their shop. Aren't the duckies cute?? And look at all the soap products in their tub.

Also, look at Rusty...smile... yesterday morning he wanted Tom's attention!!! But Tom wanted to read the paper...lol...so Rusty sat up and knocked the paper down and of course won this argument...smile... Tom had to get up and get him something to eat...smile... It was so funny!!!!

Today we made a road trip north of us to visit some old friends, the weather was perfect! I will write all about it tomorrow....hope you're in for a wonderful "fall" weekend!!

Road Trip...

Yesterday, we traveled to South Dakota...these are some of the sites we saw! Lovely farmsteads!

The day had some whispy clouds across the skies...the land was in different colors as Fall was in the air!

The farmers were combining their soybeans and look at the dust they are stirring up...course this is normal..thank goodness they are in the cab. 

Here was a farmstead with a red barn under the electric towers and wires.... (do you think they hummm??)

And last but not least....my kind of barn...smile....maybe a fixer upper??? I just couldn't pass this one up!!!

We had a nice day, went to the cemetery, where Tom's mom and aunt Pearl are buried along with several other family members. Tom's cousins and their spouses drove up also, afterwards, we went to a neighboring small town for lunch. I had called ahead of time and they had a table all set up for us, which was really nice. They have really good fried chicken dinners, so that is what we all (9 of us) had! It was a lovely day...they went back home, and we toured a few more towns...I have lots of pictures of buildings I will share with you on another post.
