Where does time go??

Saturday when we came home from Lorelai's party, we spotted this beautiful sunset...

How has your week been going? Seems like, once again, we've had things that have kept us busy. The days go by so....so fast. Lots of people, of all ages say the same thing. Are we all too busy or are the seconds skipping by...meaning...is time skipping seconds? Instead of 1 second--2 second? Is it 1 second-3 second? ha..ha... (Sounds like a good excuse!)

Monday we 'almost' emptied the front room, since we had the carpet cleaners coming the next day. He said to leave all the heavy stuff, couch, chairs, TV, and tables, he would take care of moving them. I can't believe all the stuff we have on our end tables, but I know its  'necessary stuff''.. lol  Then Tuesday morning bright and early we finished moving the rest of the stuff. I'm so happy...the carpet and the rug look really nice and the house smells so good! smile...

Today again was an early riser..we took SIL to see the doctor. There was some good news. When we were there we saw our old neighbors, then when we were leaving, there was an old co worker. He was waving at me, so I went over and talked to him. He introduced me to his mother, telling her that I worked with him and I was one of the good guys..lol (I really liked him and his work ethics, so I got him a good raise!)

After we left it was raining...sad! I really wanted to go down to the Farmers Market. But, we just came home, I made a meatloaf and 'smashed potatoes! Ever make them?? We baked them, when they were done, we let them cool down a bit, cover them with olive oil--smash them! Then sprinkle with salt, pepper and thyme, then more olive oil on them. Put back in the oven and back about 20 minutes. They were really good, especially with meatloaf. lol  Then my friend called and asked if she could come by and fix my hair. So, now I have pretty hair...smile..

Sounds like we're going to have rain again tomorrow. What kind of weather are you having??

How was your day?

Last night I looked out the window and spotted the sun going down, it was reflecting off some ornamental grass in our neighbors yard. (in the center of the picture..) As you can see, we still have snow on ground. It really was cold last night and today.

We had to get out and take my SIL to the Cancer Center, afterwards we were driving by this new building of the Milwaukee Wiener House.. (You see there is a lot of construction going on here in our city. They tore down this company's building and built them a new one in a different spot. They've had this business for many years here.) So everyone, I think, has had to stop and have a hot dog! smile... BUT, it was so...so...cold, just walking to the door. The wind chill was terrible, I believe it felt like 2 below. Unbelievable what that wind can do. Tomorrow will be a slight bit warmer...but with it we're to get some snow. sad...

How has your day been?? I pray your weather is getting better. Just think...soon it will be March, it'll be Spring and we'll have Daylight savings time... All things 'spring like'... Just hope the weather remembers this...smile...

Winter-Winter-Winter!

Winter..winter..winter, yes, it's back. We were to go to a doctors appointment this morning, but it was too windy. Yes, we had cold temps, with gusts of wind at a rate of around 53 mph today! It was overcast all day, so it was gloomy....and depressing, if you know what I mean.

However...just as the day was ending...I saw the sun shining onto our trees in the backyard...one of a sites I get to see everyday out our window. Makes me smile when this happens.

About this time Rusty needed out...so as I looked west, I saw the sun setting amongst the clouds....  Our night has gotten colder and the winds 'did not' go down with the sun (like it does sometimes...)

Early this morning, I got a text from my daughter that said and I quote! "Took a water taxi to lunch!" I said..."you're killing me..." lol   Here we are, cold, windy and having a few flurries in the air!
She's in Orlando, with her husband who is there on company business! I'm sure it's a beautiful city! I must remind her to send me some postcards.... As my cousin knows, I love postcards, she sent me one recently from Charleston, SC...beautiful place to visit!...(These help me feel like I'm traveling all over the world. smile...)

Welcome to my new followers, we all love to read your comments and go over and see your beautiful blogs. Glad you're here!

Blessings,
Gert

Last Three Days...

Tom noticed this cardinal on the tomato plant wire... Love it that they are back...

And there was a chick a dee at the leaf filled bird bath...smile...

And the woodpecker at the suet...

And then...the other morning..our friend was here (she cleaned for us) and she spotted all these turkeys in the neighbors yard.  She was so surprised and had to go out and take a picture of them! smile..

The first picture shows our yard...full of leaves. Tom's rider went on the blink, so he got behind on his mowing. smile.. When he got it back, he spent all afternoon mowing and picking up all those leaves. The lawn service said he should bag them this time, then they would come in and seed and fertilize it. They came yesterday, so we are praying it will rain tonight or in the morning so he doesn't have to water it!!! The last time he mows for the year, he can mulch it. Yeah...so much less work.

Last night we had our yearly South Bottoms dinner. There is a restaurant in a small town south of us that we go to every year. She is an amazing cook and all the food is homemade! She had about 6 or 8 salads...from cole slaw to fruit salads! There was turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, green  beans and homemade rolls! For dessert we got ice cream and a "big" chocolate chip cookie! We brought ours home since we were so.....full from that luscious meal!!! Oh ya, I forgot..we are entering into that time of year where we end up gaining weight. (ugggh)

I just had to take a picture of that adorable black and white cat that was sitting outside the door waiting for it's young master. (the ladies granddaughter who helped her set up for us!)

The sign above our table said "The Liars Table"....smile... isn't that cute??

When we left the partial moon was out...great photo opportunity! smile...

Even though it was only about 7:30 the sun was going down and it was getting dark out. Doesn't "He" light up our skies beautifully??

Today we had planned on going to the doctor to get our flu shots, but we didn't feel like it, so will do it next week! Tom never has a reaction to it, but I usually do..sad

Hope you're having a good week...

Fun Day...

We had a lazy morning...then off we went to have Tom's hearing aides checked out. It seems time flies by or maybe it takes us longer to do things. smile... Anyway by the time we headed out of the house it was around 2, we hadn't eaten dinner and had to stop at McDonald's for a hamburger. We pulled up in the parking lot to eat, Tom looked in the sack and there was only one burger in it. So....Tom went back up to the window and told them..and got the other burger!! (Always when you're in a hurry!!

I got to visit with my sister and brother in law while Tom went next door to the hearing aid man. We had  a nice visit! When Tom came over, Lela had dessert for us. (Wish I had taken a picture of it....) She fixed a chocolate brownie, vanilla ice cream, whipping cream with a cherry on top! Oh yes, it was yummmy.. smile...

Then we headed back to the city, and stopped for a short shopping venture at Sam's Club as we were going by. There was a couple other stops we had to make (one being picking up the newsletters) and this was the sun going down as we finally headed home...

By now you must know Tom is feeling better, both his knee and his tummy!! (thank goodness!) And thank all of you for your prayers and comments, they mean a lot to us. We hope your day was as blessed as ours was!

Yesterday...

Yesterday...not like today....was a busy...busy day!!! We went to the doctors for our monthly check up..our protimes were both on point and we are to stay on the same dose. But the best news was that since last month we lost some weight! Me, 7 pounds and Tom 5...woo hoo!!! smile...

We had lunch later at the Senior Center...the hamburger steak, baked potato and 'green beans' were great...but I really loved the rice crispy bar!!! smile... I haven't had one for a long time and it sure brought back lots of memories....grandma use to make these all the time... yummm....

I spotted this rickety old windmill and dilapidated buildings...kind of sad isn't it????

Here is another picture of those lovely violets I shred with you last night. Aren't they just so pretty... Tom had an appointment with his hearing aid guy, who lives right next door to our friends Bob & Lela!! smile... So lucky me...I got to visit with them while Tom got checked out! Funny...Tom now has surround sound...smile...so now he can hear me when I talk to him and he has his back to me...smile...

Aren't these skies just beautiful?? And so unique... As you know me I love clouds!!! smile...

By the time we finally were headed home the sun was sunsetting.........pretty, huh??

Today, we had a record high of 58 degrees.....but since I took my MS shot last night I was kind of tired and fagged out. I even took a nap this afternoon. This kind of bummed me out, as I've walked every day for the last several days...and then here we are having record high temperatures...and I just don't have the energy to get out and walk....sad... But there is always tomorrow...smile.... How is your weather??

"The Many Thoughts of Grace"

February 22, 1937: Mama washed this morning. She went up to the school house this afternoon. I waited on tables at the Father and Son Banquet. Lyle asked me how I was going home. Daryle talked a 'tiny' bit. Mama and I rode home with Uhls. Mrs. Crabb said I was getting thinner.
