Off for a Drive

We took a short road trip the other day. Look at that sky! We feared we'd run into some bad weather. But it turned out fine!

I believe the skies were the photo grabber for the day!! Even though the green really helped. smile..

Now, here is more green and less sky!

We stopped in this small town for lunch. It was a quaint little café. They were almost full, but we did find a table. They had 3 dinner specials, roast beef, fried chicken and fish. Karen and I chose the roast beef and Tom got the chicken. It was so good..(all homemade.) And a homemade dessert was included!

Look at all the flowers around this little center spot on main street.

I thought this barn was really pretty and unique!!! What are your thoughts on barns? Do you prefer Red barns or do you also like different colored ones??

Photos on the Go...

We headed off this morning to South Dakota on our way to the cemetery. The skies were overcast, but the winds had laid down. However, the morning temperatures were very cool with a 39 degree low. Many feared a frost and covered their plants. But they were thankful it didn't freeze last night.

I spotted several red barns.

Even one with a barn quilt!

They say this Winery is a wonderful place to eat and drink wine!! smile.. It's a  lovely wedding venue.

Even saw a few old vehicles hidden in the trees.

And hidden under some grass. smile...

It was a nice day, but am tired tonight, and have to get up early in the morning.

Quiet Day...

The last couple days have been mostly quiet! Not much going on, but still they have slipped away somehow and I can't say what I have done that was worth talking about! Sorry! Yesterday, we 'tried' to grill portabella mushrooms, they did not turn out very good...sad.. But that's how you learn! Have you ever grilled them? If so, how did they turn out?

I called a friend today, to check in on her. A few weeks ago she lost her dog. We know just how difficult that can be.  She wasn't in church Sunday, so I was concerned about her... However, she sounded good and said we'd see her next Sunday, so I hope we'll feel good enough to go again! We also went down memory lane....remembering how Sunday's were always full of company, dinners, playing cards with fiends and/or just taking a drive, checking out the crops! Our farthers both were wonderful farmers and took pride in their 'straight' rows! Ha...ha... Today farmers get them using their GPS! How things change!

I found this old picture! We had this hanging out front...and one day when I came home from work, I saw this bird flying out of her nest! So, we kept watching and viola..there she was sitting own her babies! It was so fun to keep an eye on her and her little ones!

Tomorrow will be a busy one, I hope I'll be able to blog about it tomorrow night!

Road Trip

Yesterday was a gorgeous fall day...the temperatures were nice, in the mid 60's, with no wind...just the perfect day to get out for a short road trip. As I said, the sun was shining, and when I took this first picture I was unhappy with the way the camera was working, so I changed the settings. (However when I got home and viewed it on my computer, I liked it!! smile...)

I thought this was a funky looking road...smile.... it looked so unique but when you're driving on it, a person would never realize it..

Do you think I like 'red' barns?? ha... I think these were freshly painted...old buildings..fresh paint..smile..maybe just for me to come flying by and get picture of them...smile...

It was fun to just be out and about for the day. Don't you just love old fences? They seem to add so much to the landscape... (and photos...smile...)

I looked up towards the sky and saw this aircraft....zinging...across the blue horizons !! I also noticed the exhaust vapors as they were disappearing in the sky.. smile..

After we got home, my friend stopped by after work and cut my hair. It feels...so...good! Now the whole family has their hair cut. ha...ha...

Welcome to my new visitors...always nice to see you.... Blessings and good night....

Road Trip...

Yesterday, we traveled to South Dakota...these are some of the sites we saw! Lovely farmsteads!

The day had some whispy clouds across the skies...the land was in different colors as Fall was in the air!

The farmers were combining their soybeans and look at the dust they are stirring up...course this is normal..thank goodness they are in the cab.

Here was a farmstead with a red barn under the electric towers and wires.... (do you think they hummm??)

And last but not least....my kind of barn...smile....maybe a fixer upper??? I just couldn't pass this one up!!!

We had a nice day, went to the cemetery, where Tom's mom and aunt Pearl are buried along with several other family members. Tom's cousins and their spouses drove up also, afterwards, we went to a neighboring small town for lunch. I had called ahead of time and they had a table all set up for us, which was really nice. They have really good fried chicken dinners, so that is what we all (9 of us) had! It was a lovely day...they went back home, and we toured a few more towns...I have lots of pictures of buildings I will share with you on another post.

I hope you are having a blessed week and looking forward to a nice weekend.....

A South Dakota Road Trip...

Today we took a road trip to South Dakota...I just love this barn quilt, don't you? Wish I could have gotten a closer picture of it. It really is pretty... And don't you love the windmill??

I was so impressed to see all this corn that was up already. I suppose with our weather being as nice as it has been, they probably got an early start this year with their planting.

I thought this was unique, rolling hills..green grass and yellow wildflowers...

As we were driving along I spotted this pheasant perched up on these rocks...so I told Tom "Stop!!!" and since we were on a gravel road and no one else was in site...he stopped and I got this shot! smile... The rest of the picture were "photo's on the go"...smile...

When we got home we spotted the neighbors cat getting a drink of water from our bird bath! Tom said, "gee we take care of all of God's creatures"...smile....

One week from today we will be having our MS Walk. I pray we will be having some nice weather for that day... (all prayers accepted...smile...)

How about you...did you have a nice day??
