Funny Story...

I have a funny story to tell you. My brother called me the other night and I was asking him about his cats on the farm. He has a house cat (in the picture above) and an outside cat. The house cat is like a dog, it follows him everywhere. When he's outside working on his trucks or whatever he's doing. The outside cat however, only comes in or around him when it's hungry. She just had three baby kittens; they are white, black, and light gray. It sounds like they are so pretty. (I love cats, by the way!) She made a nest under the porch, which has lattice around it, she must've crawled through it. Anyway, (she is so smart), when they come home and walk across the porch, to go in the house, she hears them. She then goes to the door and knocks (or scratches)! She knows it's time to eat. He said she doesn't stay very long, but just loves Arby's roast beef sandwiches! (Can you imagine?) She don't eat the bun but  loves the meat, so he heats it up in the microwave. And then back outside she goes Ha Ha Ha. Yes that's life on the farm.

Today was so busy...my friend came up and did some work around the house. smile... My other friend came and gave me a much needed perm! I feel so pretty.. ha...ha... I think just getting your hair cut and fixed is such a great feeling!!

Hope you're having a good week and have missed all those storms!

Anyone remember the Can-Can's?

Yesterday we met with my girlfriend for lunch and chatter...smile... We had lots of things to talk about from present day activities to memories of when we were in school... She laughed (so did I) as she remembered that my Mom put my 'can-can' in the oven to dry it. ha..ha.. I don't remember that...however...I do remember the 'can-can's' that is for sure. Did any of you, have one or remember them? I may do a blog posting on that later...

There is that neighborhood kitty that bothers Rusty so much and so often..smile.. We all agree that we would love to have this cat! He is so pretty and enjoys coming over to visit our yard (and to bug Rusty..lol) See how he blends in with all those leaves?? Well, after today--his camouflage is all gone! Tom was busy mowing today and I'm sure it will be the last time with year!

"All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever." 1Peter 1:24-25

I spotted the last of our flowers today!! I'm surprised they survived our hard freeze we had the other night...but they did..smile... Their really leggy and almost leafless, but still putting on some pretty blooms. Are your flowers coming to an end also?

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend..

How did you sleep last night??

This is our neighborhood cat (beautiful isn't it??)! And he sits on the deck, and totally irritates Rusty to no means. I think it knows he can't get to him so he just sanders across the yard, up on the patio and sits on the deck..or somewhere else in the yard..lol

This is too funny...we laughed and laughed! He was rolling on the carpet (which he has done before...so I knew what the end result would be.and I had my camera ready) when he stood up this is what he looked like!! lol Bad hair day!!!

Then he ran over to the fireplace...looked at the glass and saw himself. He was not happy!! We laughed so much at him..as he was growling at the fathom dog.

As you can see by these clouds we were in for some rain and it we got it. I heard it start around 3 in the morning! And we got *snow* later in the morning!! Actually we only got .18 hundreds of an inch. So no accumulation really, but still it was *snow*!! Have you seen any snow?? We're sure not looking forward to it this early...hey it's still fall..lol

Poor Tom, last night he had to take a sleep study test at the hospital.  He couldn't have any coffee or pop  all day, or take a nap. smile.. It was a long day for him! My son Randy, came and took him to the hospital then stayed the night with me. Rusty was lost without his dad...smile... and I don't think he slept to well. Randy, said the couch wasn't all that comfortable and I was worried how Tom would do... So...you can see a pattern happening here. ha..ha..
We're hoping to hear Tom's results in a couple weeks. He is so happy to have it over with!! Oh..by the way he slept like a log!!!

Sure hope you're having a wonderful week!

Baby Hawks and Turkey Buzzards...

First I just have to share this picture of the twins with you...are they not just the cutest things you've ever seen??? Her mommy called the "baby hawks".  Looked like they were already for the game yesterday...to bad the team lost and by so little..sad... However, the year has just begun!!! smile...

My daughter in Georgia sent me these photos, of what she saw in her yard last week. Doesn't this bunny look healthy?? Looks like he has lots to eat....everything is so green!

Looks like she caught a picture of this fawn out her window..."Cuteness" in it's true form.....

Now here is her 'tired' adorable little dog Camy. The first time Rusty went down there to visit...those two had a ball...running around (and around) the house. Brenda had a little 'water fountain' in front of  her fireplace, and they'd STOP...get a drink and off they'd go again..smile... So guess what we had to buy when we got home...ha..ha..

She noticed this neighborhood cat sleeping on her deck.. Pretty isn't it??

And can you believe? A turkey buzzard??? Wow...I don't think I've ever seen one before.. How about you? Have you seen they before??

And this pretty one of the bee enjoying some sweet nectar!

Tonight (just like many other ones) when Tom opened the door, I could hear the cicada's-boy are they noisy little burgers...smile... But to me they are the sound of fall. And since September is here, that tells me the season is soon upon us. I hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

Bird Watching Weekend

While I was bird counting today, I spotted this Mama Cardinal hiding in the tree...smile...  Later she hopped on the feeder and had something to eat...smile...

We brought my chair in the front room, and I sat there for 30 or 40 minutes in the mornings. Today I decided to take a few pictures while I was watching the birds coming in. There were a few more that I didn't get photos of. It was really fun to do! Did anyone else do it??

Tom looked out and said..."oh there is a squirrel out there too..." smile.. I thought that doesn't matter...I was just counting birds not squirrels. smile... About that time, this kitty chased him up the tree!! Boy that squirrel was unhappy...the cat could only go so far up, then the squirrel jumped from branch to branch...then to another tree. He was gone...... The cat came down and ran across the yard and through the alley to the neighbors house... soon the sliding glass door opened and in she/he went!! (So it's nice to know this kitty isn't homeless...) but I'm sorry that it keeps chasing the squirrels up the trees! ha...

I'm a happy camper, I got a lot of paperwork done today!! I was so happy! I can even see my desk now!!! ha... How about you? Did you have a nice weekend? I hope this was a blessed SONday for you...

As Promised....

Our sites this morning out the window were so pretty...the camera can never really capture the true beauty of our skies. But they give you an idea how we started our day...smile... What I haven't mentioned were the temperatures....we started off with 35 or 36 degree's... Hard to believe how these can change so quickly......then our highs were 73...

Soon the skies turned pink, as the sun started to rise...smile.. total beauty!!! The rest of the day was very 'busy' making phone calls after phone calls... to doctors, to pharmacies...and on and on..  I 'think' I might understand a little more about the 'donut hole'! We are luckier than our parents were when they were on Social Security and Medicare.... BUT....we forget these things when we're in the middle of an issue ourselves. However, we must always be thankful for small favors....

As promised here are a few pictures Brenda sent me...that she has taken in the last few weeks... this butterfly was on her deck last week...isn't it just beautiful????

And like my neighborhood cat, these were spotted also on her deck earlier this month. Don't they just look so comfortable?? Oh yes, and so pretty..........love it!!

Last but not least, this lizard or gecko (she wasn't really sure what it was) adorned her porch yesterday.... Eeekkk.... it would have scared me to death...smile... (It just looks like a creepy crawler to me...ha...ha...)

I hope you've had a wonderful day....

Anniversary Day...

Today being our 26th anniversary we celebrated it by heading to the Farmers Market. Isn't this pumpkin cute??? Someone is very talented! smile... We 'had' to go down there to get some more doggie bones for Rusty...smile... He loved the homemade bones we got last week...

Tom spotted the neighborhood kittie today climbing a big tree! smile... He must have seen Tom taking the picture out the window...

And I spotted the Mama Cardinal tonight and I think she saw me...smile...
We went to the Senior Center today for lunch, as it was broasted chicken day today...smile... It was amazing as always and way too much to eat!! ha...

I hope you had as wonderful day today as we've had!  Tomorrow is our little Lorelai's first birthday!! Can you believe it's been a whole year??? Good night all...

Fall is in the Air???

Sunday when I saw this tree, my first thoughts were...can fall be far away?? This tree always becomes so beautiful in the autumn time... Looks like it's going to turn early this year...

You've heard of birds on a wire...well, here we have birds on the branches...smile... They just fill our trees and eat the bird feed...in droves...smile.. Tom's not happy with them, but I figure they have to eat too...

My daughter Brenda, in Georgia said she had these pretty little birds on her front porch today. They weren't afraid of her and she said...she could have touched them...but she didn't...smile.... She asked what I thought they were...I believe their Common Ground Doves. Anyone have a different idea what they are??

Tom spotted this neighborhood cat..climbing up one of our trees. Actually it's a big lilac bush...so it soon ran down just as quickly as it climbed up.

I started taking my new antibiotics today...so....here goes...hopefully they will improve my health. Had another busy day...working on the Bugle...it won't be long and I'll have it all done and in the mail...smile..
Our weather has really turned much cooler this week. It was 20 degrees cooler today than yesterday... Ahhh...if you know me, you know I'm loving it!! What did you do today?

First of August already.....

I can't believe July is gone and August is here already! Where does the time go?? Soon school will be back in session, the poor kids I'm afraid will be in for a 'hot' one! I don't think this weather is going to cool down very soon, even though they are predicting some rain and cooler temps...we shall see!! smile... Prayers for this are welcome....

I woke up this morning with something that feels like a summer cold...sad... or it might just be sinus's again!! But whatever it is...I feel pretty lousy..sad... However...I did have some good news today...I was approved for some new medication for my MS...yeah! It will be interesting to see how it works on me.. It'll probably be awhile before I get it and try it out. I will keep you updated on how it goes. smile...

Once again we had a 'hot' day...99 degrees with a heat index of 104...as you can see the birds enjoyed the cool water in the bird bath and the neighborhood cat enjoyed the coolness of the shade of our deck.

Since this is the first of August and the middle of the week...what have you been up to today? I'd love to hear...

Today was another HOT day... actually hotter than yesterday! It was 103 with a heat index of 114! Our poor air conditioner hasn't stopped running all day..sad... I bet little Lorelai, her mom and dad wish they were in the pool today...smile...

A project I was working on has failed...thanks to the internet and the computers anti virus (we think)!  Anyway, tomorrow I will try something else. smile... nothing ventured nothing gained! smile... I know everything happens for a reason! I will share my finished project with you when it's finished!

My daughter Brenda, sent me these pictures today...she said this cat kind of made itself at home on her deck today..smile... Tom wondered if she had fed this it?? Well, later she told me yes she had fed her and her babies last year...lol She must have remembered! (She thinks she's the neighbors barn cat...however, isn't she a pretty cat?)

I hope you are all having an amazing week! I know the weather is different all over the world. Sometimes I just talk about the weather in my area... but I know we all need something different. I pray for better weather where ever you are and what ever you need....

Memorial Day Weekend

We headed off to the local cemeteries today...the flags were flying...and the grass was so green....

And more flags along another cemetery...

We went down to the small town where I grew up...and to the cemetery there. Afterwards, we drove out by the lake. Since it was a warm day...the boaters were out fishing...

As we went by this house...and I saw this dog in the front yard...I thought he wasn't real...Tom said "Oh ya, he's real"... so he stopped so I could get this picture...smile....

I also saw this barn/machine shed quilt...Isn't this a pretty one?

We stopped by my brother Larry's house. We had a nice visit, he had been out mowing the grass!

He introduced me to his kitty cat.... She didn't want anything to do with me... (can you believe a cat that didn't like me???? smile...)

We had a busy day.....how about you??? I hope you are enjoying your weekend....

A South Dakota Road Trip...

Today we took a road trip to South Dakota...I just love this barn quilt, don't you? Wish I could have gotten a closer picture of it. It really is pretty... And don't you love the windmill??

I was so impressed to see all this corn that was up already. I suppose with our weather being as nice as it has been, they probably got an early start this year with their planting.

I thought this was unique, rolling hills..green grass and yellow wildflowers...

As we were driving along I spotted this pheasant perched up on these rocks...so I told Tom "Stop!!!" and since we were on a gravel road and no one else was in site...he stopped and I got this shot! smile... The rest of the picture were "photo's on the go"...smile...

When we got home we spotted the neighbors cat getting a drink of water from our bird bath! Tom said, "gee we take care of all of God's creatures"...smile....

One week from today we will be having our MS Walk. I pray we will be having some nice weather for that day... (all prayers accepted...smile...)

How about you...did you have a nice day??

Beautiful Day....

This is how our day started out...fresh blueberries in our oatmeal!! They were so good, you'd bite into them and they'd pop! Yumm..they were amazing!

And like I told you a basket of fruit on the table is so inviting!

I looked out the window this morning and saw Mama Cardinal...isn't she pretty???

Tom was busy vacing up the pork chops and pork ribs today that we bought at Sam's yesterday. Do you use a Food Saver to vac your meats etc?

After lunch with the weather being so nice..we went for a short walk up the street and back. As we walked by our neighbors house, we spotted their cat watching Rusty as he trotted by! Look at that face! smile...

We saw another neighbor boy walking his dogs! Aren't these Yorkie's cute??? (Actually we had put Rusty in the house and were on our way in also, when we spotted our neighbor with his puppies...smile...) I don't think Rusty would have thought they were as cute as we did...hee hee!

Just thought I'd share another picture of that Studebaker that Tom loved! smile... It sounds like most of you or your husbands..had  a favorite old car! Aren't memories great???
