Wagons..Then and Now~Did you Know??

This is my Grandpa Phil and my brother Larry, probably in around 1946. Grandma and Grandpa had bought this wagon for us. (Can't you tell it's new, as its so bright and shiny??) I can remember the my brothers pulling me in that wagon and I loved it!!

I spotted this in the store the other day, which reminded me of that previous picture. (I think the cost on this new one was around $60!) They were both red and white, but you can sure see the small differences! Did you ever have a little red wagon??

Now, I have a "Did You Know?" Thanks to my friend, we changed the batteries in our smoke alarms the other day. (Which we normally do when the time changes..just hadn't got it done yet.) Anyway, yesterday the alarm started 'chirping', which usually means the battery is going dead. How could that be, we used brand new ones?? So, today I called the Fire Prevention number in the phone book, and asked them if the 'smoke alarms' ever go bad! She said "yes" they are normally only good for 6 to 7 years and that there is an expiration date on the back of the unit. Well, when I looked...yep it was expired! Uggg.. However, she said they would come out to the house at our convenience and replace them, FREE of charge! Now, isn't that just amazing?? So, they will be here tomorrow and we'll be all safe once again for awhile. If you didn't know this, please check yours today!

Now, speaking of batteries! We have a pretty clock, that plays music on the hour (I've always loved it and have had it for years)! Tom noticed that the pendulum wasn't going around any longer. I called and the repairman said they'd be in the city today and could pick it up. That made me happy.. When he came, he asked if we had changed the 'batteries'?? As soon as we did, it started working! Viola...I love batteries...lol (Since the rest of the clock was working, time, music etc. I would never had thought about changing the batteries.)

Now you've heard what made me smile today...how about you?? Did you find a 'smile' in your day??

Funny Story...

I have a funny story to tell you. My brother called me the other night and I was asking him about his cats on the farm. He has a house cat (in the picture above) and an outside cat. The house cat is like a dog, it follows him everywhere. When he's outside working on his trucks or whatever he's doing. The outside cat however, only comes in or around him when it's hungry. She just had three baby kittens; they are white, black, and light gray. It sounds like they are so pretty. (I love cats, by the way!) She made a nest under the porch, which has lattice around it, she must've crawled through it. Anyway, (she is so smart), when they come home and walk across the porch, to go in the house, she hears them. She then goes to the door and knocks (or scratches)! She knows it's time to eat. He said she doesn't stay very long, but just loves Arby's roast beef sandwiches! (Can you imagine?) She don't eat the bun but  loves the meat, so he heats it up in the microwave. And then back outside she goes Ha Ha Ha. Yes that's life on the farm.

Today was so busy...my friend came up and did some work around the house. smile... My other friend came and gave me a much needed perm! I feel so pretty.. ha...ha... I think just getting your hair cut and fixed is such a great feeling!!

Hope you're having a good week and have missed all those storms!

What kind of Day did you have??

I spotted this the other day in front of the grocery store! Isn't that a cute fall display??  I would love to have all those flowers around my home!! And who wouldn't?? That is just another one of those things I love about this time of the year!!

I took this picture the other night when we went to the fish fry. Guess, as you know I love cloud formations!! And I thought these were really pretty, in their own way!

I just had to throw in a picture from our Red Hat Luncheon the other day. Our Queen Mother is in the blue costume...she is so pretty!! The top right one is our "costume queen", she has something different every month on her hat...and the bottom photo shows the two winners for the best costume!! Cute..huh??

(Clouds again!! smile..) Today was so busy...running here and running there.. One of the stops was to the grocery store...we hadn't been there in quite awhile, and I had to replenish some of the supplies we threw away when my friend helped clean our cupboards... I told the gal at the store Tom just hates it when I come along...ha..ha.. She just laughed...

Talked to my brother tonight, he was telling me all about the tornado that went through his town and also my son's town. (they're about 7 or 8 miles apart). Neither of their homes were damaged but lots of damage around them. He thought it was caused by the snow that they had north of us. Can you imagine all the snow they had?? Several feet..

I found this picture by Lesa Mickkelson Lee on Facebook, showing how Sturgis, SD looked at the bike rally this summer and what that same street looked like last weekend!! Too early!!

Well, time for my shot and off to bed..

Blessings...

more as it happens here in the city..............
