Turkeys, Pumpkins and Rusty

Tom spotted these turkeys in the neighbors yard..going through her bale of straw and (maybe) the pumpkins. I saw a joke on FB showing a squirrel chopping on a pumpkin, the caption read "Sorry I started making the Jack O' Lantern without you!" (or something to that effect) Maybe that is what these turkeys are doing with her pumpkins...smile...

I saw these at the store the other day, I said to Tom I wonder what they do with all these pumpkins when no one wants to buy them anymore?? Feed them to the hogs??? hee...hee..hee

Remember me telling you last night about Rusty's new toy?? Well, here he is..notice the stance..he wasn't very sure about the quacking going on..smile..

I'm not sure how this will work, but I tried to upload a video so everyone could hear the 'quack..quack..quack!' Welcome to our house...lol

Fall is Fast Approaching...

The other day when we were out shopping, and went in the store I saw this basket of mums! Then we walked into the doors of the store and saw this pumpkin! Tom said do you want one?? Of course I said "yes"! When we checked out, I told the check out lady I wanted one of those baskets of mums outside. She said you have to bring them in...sad... So I went ahead and checked out. Then I zipped outside (on my scooter) and checked out the twenty some dollar price tag (marked down from $40) and zipped back in and said "Yes I want one." She was so sweet, she went out and got it for me. Isn't it pretty?? I just love it all...

Yesterday, it seemed so funny when I looked out the window, it seemed like all the trees had just turned a very much lighter color overnight. Today, it was much worse and I thought oh my, I've got to photograph this before all the leaves are gone.

Another patio mystery....I looked out the window and spotted this yellow flower. Tom went out and took a picture of it for me.  Could it be a volunteer pansy?? If so, how cool is that? If not what do you think it is? (still cool!)

Hope you're having a good weekend... we had a very late start to our day. sad...  I swear it takes us longer all the time to do anything. I had a few items to return from our shopping spree the other day. Tom got my scooter out and away we went....but...when I was on the incline going into the store I didn't think it was going to make it...lol My battery was almost in the yellow. (bad) Of course all the stuff on my list was from one end of the store to the other... I was so afraid it would die. I'd go, but had Tom kind of behind me pushing...helping the battery..ha..ha.. We did make it to the van...and it's on the charger right now.  What did you do today?

Busy Monday..

Oh, I forgot to show you the twins going for a walk the other night. Their Grandma put up a video on FB and since I couldn't figure out how to share the 'video' I didn't do it. Tonight, I figured it out!! smile... And here it is....aren't they adorable?? Starting to walk already...Wow!!! I know things have changed...but I believe mine were around one. Actually, my daughter walked on her first birthday!! smile...

Oh, yes...frost (or should I have said freeze) on the pumpkin?? We've been having some really cold nights around here..(I believe it was 7 above last night) and yet this 'ugly pumpkin' is still looking good... (funny using ugly and good in the same description..lol) Not sure how long it'll hold out...at least until after Thanksgiving I hope. Note: Our neighbor has a really pretty pumpkin display in her front yard.  However...the other night when we got up (about 3 a.m.) Tom looked out and said the deer were in the her yard...eating her pumpkins! Oh my...I bet she wonders who is getting into them when she wakes up in the morning...(the little buggers...) [We're thankful, but not sure why they don't find our 'ugly' one appetizing...lol]

We went to the doctor this morning, for our check ups. Like I've said, I really missed my coffee....and had a bad headache..(must be due to the lack of caffeine..). My blood pressure was 170/?, once I heard 170, I didn't hear anything else.. tonight it was 124/70 or something. So, I will keep checking it until next week, when he wants to see me again. Otherwise we are okay...smile.. We'll get our numbers on the cholesterol later.

When we got home, Tom got the Christmas lights out and put them on the bushes! They are so pretty...I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!! I figured we wouldn't turn them on until later..but when we came home tonight, I saw a lot of lights and thought 'why not?' Have you done any Christmas decorating outside??

Later in the afternoon, we took Karen to the Cancer Center. When we picked her up...look at these gorgeous skies! God just said...goodnight my loved ones...in a way, only He can do..

Blessings...my friends...

Anyone remember the Can-Can's?

Yesterday we met with my girlfriend for lunch and chatter...smile... We had lots of things to talk about from present day activities to memories of when we were in school... She laughed (so did I) as she remembered that my Mom put my 'can-can' in the oven to dry it. ha..ha.. I don't remember that...however...I do remember the 'can-can's' that is for sure. Did any of you, have one or remember them? I may do a blog posting on that later...

There is that neighborhood kitty that bothers Rusty so much and so often..smile.. We all agree that we would love to have this cat! He is so pretty and enjoys coming over to visit our yard (and to bug Rusty..lol) See how he blends in with all those leaves?? Well, after today--his camouflage is all gone! Tom was busy mowing today and I'm sure it will be the last time with year!

"All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever." 1Peter 1:24-25

I spotted the last of our flowers today!! I'm surprised they survived our hard freeze we had the other night...but they did..smile... Their really leggy and almost leafless, but still putting on some pretty blooms. Are your flowers coming to an end also?

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend..

Fall is in the Air...

The other day we went shopping and when we came out of the store...this is what we saw!! Pumpkins everywhere!!! smile... (Actually they were off loading them when we went into the store...)

Instead..of getting the pumpkin, back there we stopped at a little stand near by, for a watermelon and I spotted these. I said to Tom, I want that ugly pumpkin...(and a white one!)

Yep, our "ugly pumpkin" welcomes all who enter our home! smile.. As does our 'white' pumpkin!!! ha..ha.. (sorry I didn't get a picture of the white one...)

As you can see the trees are turning and the wind is really blowing!!! The temperatures were dropping today, but are to warm back up tomorrow! Normal fall...temps up and down!! smile...

Having that in mind, yesterday we made cookies and chili! yummm..  This is such a great way to bake cookies, we bought some frozen cookie dough that was already made into cookies and plop them on the cookie sheet, and bake 'em! They were so good! We only bought one dozen just to see what they tasted like, I will certainly buy more. Yummmm

And the chili...well that was a different story--we knew what that tasted like and we weren't disappointed! It was so..so good, especially on a cool, windy day. smile..

Are you decorating and enjoying some fall cooking and baking??

Off for a Ride...

Doesn't this remind you of 'fall'?? smile... Funny, this lady planted her garden in her front yard. Strange...I know, but what a garden she had. Corn, tomatoes and know pumpkins!! I read about this 'somewhere' that others were using their space in their yard, whether it was their front yard or any other space they have!

Now, when we were out for a ride yesterday, after we got our new glasses! We spotted this mule (along with some horses...I will be posting those pictures another day.) But, I just had to laugh when he came to the fence...of course we were in the car. I think he figured we had something to eat for him. ha...ha...

We drove through the rose garden again...they are all so pretty. There were ladies walking around checking them all out. Hard to see, but the fountain was flowing with water.

The Bandshell is so neat. My son and his band played there a few years ago. They also have a Saturday in the Park every year! Thousands of people pack this park, listening to the top named bands and just enjoying themselves. And every Sunday, there is an orchestra that plays music for any and all people.

The painted design is on the water tower. Very cool. The bottom picture is another view of the rose garden.

We've been busy for the last couple days, doing some doctor things. Like picking up our glasses which are so nice, we're very happy with the new lenses. We had to go down town and the streets are all tore up. It's like--where do we go now?? ha..ha.. But they have to work when the weather is nice, and it will be really good when they are all done. Are you having this problem in your city or town??

Hope you're having a good week....

Pumpkins and Snow....

Yesterday was a cool rainy one! We went after Tom's medicines and this is what we spotted! Our neighbors front yard is filled with pumpkins, gourds and squashes. So pretty!!!

Then, on down the street this yard was also full of decorations..smile.. I love this time of the year. There seems to be decorations in everyone's yard or porch!

And then, this  was natures decoration, tree standing tall with leaves of gold...falling upon the ground! I think this is the prettiest of them all...smile...

As we were heading back home in the rain, this was what our street looked like! Full of fall colors...

Today, the rain turned to *snow*...can you believe it was snowing in October?? Way too early I think!!

Tom looked out the door and noticed these deer resting in our neighbors yard...I said..."here's the camera take a picture of them!" So he had to step our into the cold and snap this shot!!! Bless his heart!! I have been busy working on the newsletter. I'm hoping to do more tomorrow and drop some stories into it and see how much more I need!! smile... Always seems like I have enough until I actually drop them all in and then I have to scurry around and find something to fill in the blanks...smile...

Hope you have been having a wonderful week. Have you had any snow yet????

Saturday...

Here is what I bought 'new' the other day. They had these glass pumpkin candy dishes on sale for $4.99, now who could pass that up?? smile... However, the candy cost a lot more than the dish...smile...

Also, I got these place mats 'new' too..smile... Aren't they pretty? I love the applique and the colors. Now the decorative sat and pepper set are not new... I've had them for years..

Speaking of kitchens..(smile) we had to have a new kitchen light put in. The old one had a short in it and we were lucky we didn't have a fire. (God watched over us for sure...) Tom and Henry went looking for a new light fixture and came home and gave me the receipt it costs $10.70! Can you believe it??? Isn't it pretty?? (It was a discontinued pattern, that was why it was so reasonable.)

Our daughter Brenda, sent this for Mother's Day, we finally got a plant for it. Now it's time to "Sing to the Lord"...smile....

I had bought a bunch of banana's the other day at the store, so today I thought, I'd use some of them to make banana bread! Tom was outside mowing the lawn! (Remember how neat it looked last week? Well, one of the trees out there dropped all it's leaves this week!! ha...) I think we're both exhausted tonight...smile..

Hope you're having a great weekend...

Peter Pumpkin Eater....

Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater...smile... I got this at a craft show many years ago..and has held up for all these years..smile... Actually it was made from ducting (like for a dryer vent) and spray painted orange and accessorized to look like a real pumpkin.

I got these little pumpkins from my "Secret Sister" a few years ago. They are napkin holders...aren't they cute???

My bowl is filled with fall, orange and cranberry potpourri, and when I spray it with orange oil it makes our room smell 'oh so fallish'....smile... Tom found the bowl at a rummage sale, also many years ago!! He filled it with all colored leaves from our yard..it was so pretty...smile...

All the above pieces are on this table, plus more...smile...

Tomorrow, I'll show you some of new items I got for this fall season... How about you? Are you decorating your home this fall??

Yesterday, I was sick in the afternoon, not sure if it was something I ate or a touch of the flu...but it sure had me feeling miserable. I wasn't sure I'd survive...smile... But here I am...well and happy!! Hope this finds you all well and looking forward to nice weekend!

Ask and you shall receive......

I told you I got one of those 'ugly' pumpkins...smile... and of course I got a 'white' one also. I just love them...and later on I might get a 'regular' orange one!! I'll just see if I can convince Tom into letting me get one...lol Like I really have to get his permission...ha... I just hope these frosts we've been having won't hurt our pumpkins that are sitting out on the porch. Maybe Tom will have to put them in the garage if they are predicted again...

Saturday, Tom conceded and asked for help with his yard work. He just had so many things that needed to be done, since the summer had prevented him from being able to get out to do these things. So he called a few numbers in the newspaper! I just prayed someone would come and do a good job... First, a man came and Tom was showing him what he wanted and I was praying..."please Father make this man one that can do the job that Tom expects.." Soon, there was another person at the door, wanting to do an estimate. Well, number one guy, said to Tom, let him do the work and left!!! Man number two settled on a price and said he'd be back in the afternoon. By 3 p.m. we decided they weren't going to show..sad... And then...there they were.....there was a crew of about four of them...(one being man number one...smile...that is why he said "let him do the work"...they were both with the same crew...smile...) Oh, and work...boy did they ever do that...they trimmed the dead branches from the trees, and trimmed some of the bushes, mowed the yard and picked up all the grass and leaves. And they hauled all of it away! Wow, like Tom said it would have taken him till next spring to do all of this...smile... We can only fill one barrel a week with grass clippings, and if you have limbs you have to cut them up and they too go in that one barrel. So, now you can understand that 'till spring' statement...smile... This picture is after they were all done..no leaves or weeds anywhere!! We were so happy with them and I 'thanked God' for putting them into our lives... "Ask and you shall receive"....

With our 25 degrees temperatures for an overnight low...Tom brought our pretty plant in and sat it on a table  he had made in shop class almost 60 years ago! smile... Tomorrow I will show a better picture of it!! I love it..it's so personal!!! I think it will do well this fall and winter, hopefully we'll be able to put it out again next spring! smile...

Tom mentioned he was hungry for tacos today...and the light bulb came on...I remembered that they had messed up on an order for us awhile back and offered to give us another one 'free'...so I found my receipt along with the note I had made and they said 'yes' come in and they'd fulfill their promise! Tom went up at lunch time and that is what we had for lunch!! (Ever notice how a 'free' lunch always tastes better??smile...)

I hope Monday was a blessed day for you..........

Ugly Pumpkins.....

Yesterday, we had a couple errands to run...and look at what we found!!! smile... We stopped at a farm stand to buy some sweetcorn! I spotted these 'ugly pumpkins', so I got of the van and asked her..what are these pumpkins?? She said, their called 'ugly pumpkins'...last year, someone asked her husband to raise them...so he did, and guess what?? They are selling like hot cakes...smile... And of course I had to buy one and it is adorning our front porch!!! Have you seen them?? Would you buy one??

We stopped by our friends shop and loved the fall flowers outside their shop!

And here are some of the items that I spotted inside their shop. Aren't the duckies cute?? And look at all the soap products in their tub.

Also, look at Rusty...smile... yesterday morning he wanted Tom's attention!!! But Tom wanted to read the paper...lol...so Rusty sat up and knocked the paper down and of course won this argument...smile... Tom had to get up and get him something to eat...smile... It was so funny!!!!

Today we made a road trip north of us to visit some old friends, the weather was perfect! I will write all about it tomorrow....hope you're in for a wonderful "fall" weekend!!
