Hitting the Floor Running

Yesterday morning we woke up at 7, I showered and our sweet friend Sherry was here at 8! Her and I baked some banana bread, then she cleaned the fridge for me. She is such an amazing lady!! It was fun to listen to Christmas music, and bake some bread. (I know it is a little dark, but it is sooo good!) But we had a whole lot of  love chattering going on...smile...

Then my friend called and said she was coming up and would fix my  hair. Yeah!!! That was exciting since we were going to a Christmas party at night!

After lunch, Tom's cousin came to visit. It was so nice to see him, he's so funny we don't see him..forever...then he comes for a long visit..smile..  He has retired and is trying to get use to all his free time. ha.. About four o'clock I said to Tom, you need to take your shower. (I thought Tom's sister was visiting too, so it wouldn't be rude for him to leave the conversation long enough to get showered and dressed.) But he decided it was time to leave anyway, so out the door he went.

Then there were other things we needed to do to get prepared for our Christmas potluck! Thank goodness I had already made my salad the day before, but I had to put some Marciano cherries on top of it. (I had them draining on paper towels..so the juice wouldn't  bleed on the salad.) And I needed to find a couple gift bags for our gift exchange. Of course they were down stairs and poor Tom would run down and get some then some others etc. Finally, I said bring the whole box up! Which he did and I found the ones that would work.... whew... Anyway, you know how it goes when your under the gun, nothing goes right!

Collage: Left is one of our ladies reading a letter from fellow South Bottomer! Top right shows some of our friends. Then bottom right, is Tom selecting his gift!

Our Christmas potluck was our monthly one. As always it was very enjoyable. We had turkey and all the trimmings! And I got my pumpkin pie!! I told my friend who made it, that I didn't have any for Thanksgiving so was really looking forward to having a piece at the potluck. It was really good!!!

So...it was wonderful to sleep in this morning (and we did..lol). Do you have some of those catch up days??? I even watched a Hallmark movie! (I love them!!)

I did get the recipe typed for the Loosemeats, it's under the recipe page or you can click on Loosemeats to see it.

Good night everyone and sweet dreams. Thank you for your prayers for my daughter Brenda, she felt to humbled to know there were so many praying for her surgery tomorrow.

Bless our Veterans on their day...

 Veteran's Day
Time to Honor---Time to Pray

LORD, as we honor all the brave men and women who have served our country, we think of those who are no longer with us. We pray that their families, whose sacrifice was so great, would know the depth of our gratitude and find comfort in you. For the veterans still with us, Lord, we pray for your hand of blessing and provision to be upon them. We ask for healing of their memories too painful to speak and that your love would be real in their lives. May your divine protection be upon our active troops and your wisdom be with those in authority over them to make decisions according to your perfect will. In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.

Yesterday, was lovely...with nice temperatures! Soon our afternoon skies turned to looking like this. Later, the night skies fell dark, and soon I saw lightening streaking across the skies... There was thunder and rain...lots of rain... Something, we haven't seen, heard or smelled for a long..long... time... smile.... I think we ended up with almost an inch of much needed rain.

When we woke this morning..our temperatures were really cold, for us. And as you can see the leaves are all gone from our trees. As much as I hate to say it, I think *winter* is on it's way... sad...

I looked out the door mid morning and saw these deer resting in our neighbors yard. Finally they both laid down, one facing toward our house, the other facing the opposite direction. Isn't it amazing how animals just know how to protect themselves?? Instinct I guess.. (This is a God thing isn't it??)

Thought I'd share with you, how busy we've been! Yesterday, even though it was a nice day, Tom made chili (it was so good!) and I baked a cake. Today he made Mushroom Orzo soup... (it was really good too...). Do you ever use orzo?? I love it so much more than rice. After lunch we made some banana bread!!! Our house smelled so good!!! Did you have a good SONday?? I hope it was restful and enjoyable...

Saturday...

Here is what I bought 'new' the other day. They had these glass pumpkin candy dishes on sale for $4.99, now who could pass that up?? smile... However, the candy cost a lot more than the dish...smile...

Also, I got these place mats 'new' too..smile... Aren't they pretty? I love the applique and the colors. Now the decorative sat and pepper set are not new... I've had them for years..

Speaking of kitchens..(smile) we had to have a new kitchen light put in. The old one had a short in it and we were lucky we didn't have a fire. (God watched over us for sure...) Tom and Henry went looking for a new light fixture and came home and gave me the receipt it costs $10.70! Can you believe it??? Isn't it pretty?? (It was a discontinued pattern, that was why it was so reasonable.)

Our daughter Brenda, sent this for Mother's Day, we finally got a plant for it. Now it's time to "Sing to the Lord"...smile....

I had bought a bunch of banana's the other day at the store, so today I thought, I'd use some of them to make banana bread! Tom was outside mowing the lawn! (Remember how neat it looked last week? Well, one of the trees out there dropped all it's leaves this week!! ha...) I think we're both exhausted tonight...smile..

Hope you're having a great weekend...
