October..Your Here Already...

Can you believe it?? October is here already?  This picture is our mums...aren't they pretty?? One year, we bought 3 of them; purple, yellow and orange! For whatever reason this was the only one that survived and flourished! Every year, they bring back memories of watching Tom planting them:)

Hard to believe...but a year ago on the 29th of September, Tom left our home never to return. From then on, he was either in nursing homes or the hospital before passing away in January. But there are just so many sweet memories that I encounter everyday...just like this one, of him planting these gorgeous flowers for all of us to enjoy long after he's gone. I have been so blessed to have had him in my life.

Today, when I let Rusty out, the yard was full of turkeys! I thought, 'ya you go boy'!! And sure enough he chased them all out of the yard..ha.. (Had they only known he could go just so far, he's on a pretty short lease...lol) However, Mr. Squirrel..came scampering across the yard today too...trying to find a place to bury a nut that he had in his mouth. He'd start to dig...then run a little farther and try again. He'd stop and look at Rusty, and for whatever reason he knew he wasn't going to come after him. Then off he'd go again..I'm not sure if he ever found a place to bury that nut...hummm........ I tried getting a picture with my cell phone, but they were NOT good.

This was our day this morning.. overcast and kind of gloomy. No rain however, which is good, the farmers are or soon will be getting in their fields and harvesting their crops. It is pretty though to watch the leaves turn colors and fall to the ground. What about your weather, how was it today??

My son is doing better, he's been able to play a few songs with his band. That is exciting and good for him. It will have been 3 months next week since his horrible accident. He continues to help me and be a blessing. I sold our pickup last weekend and had to take care of all kinds of stuff with that. But he was right there driving me around. (smile) And Rusty had to go to the groomers, so he did that one day. (thank goodness..)

My daughter in Georgia is back home tonight from their trip to Florida. What fun they had. Loved the pictures she sent. They went to Sea World Friday. They really saw a lot of cool stuff.

My sister in law is back in the hospital, so your prayers and/or good thoughts for her and for Randy (my son) would be greatly appreciated. Tomorrow I will tell you what my plans are for the day. (Let's see if I get them done!!)

Blessings and good night..

Fall is Fast Approaching...

The other day when we were out shopping, and went in the store I saw this basket of mums! Then we walked into the doors of the store and saw this pumpkin! Tom said do you want one?? Of course I said "yes"! When we checked out, I told the check out lady I wanted one of those baskets of mums outside. She said you have to bring them in...sad... So I went ahead and checked out. Then I zipped outside (on my scooter) and checked out the twenty some dollar price tag (marked down from $40) and zipped back in and said "Yes I want one." She was so sweet, she went out and got it for me. Isn't it pretty?? I just love it all...

Yesterday, it seemed so funny when I looked out the window, it seemed like all the trees had just turned a very much lighter color overnight. Today, it was much worse and I thought oh my, I've got to photograph this before all the leaves are gone.

Another patio mystery....I looked out the window and spotted this yellow flower. Tom went out and took a picture of it for me.  Could it be a volunteer pansy?? If so, how cool is that? If not what do you think it is? (still cool!)

Hope you're having a good weekend... we had a very late start to our day. sad...  I swear it takes us longer all the time to do anything. I had a few items to return from our shopping spree the other day. Tom got my scooter out and away we went....but...when I was on the incline going into the store I didn't think it was going to make it...lol My battery was almost in the yellow. (bad) Of course all the stuff on my list was from one end of the store to the other... I was so afraid it would die. I'd go, but had Tom kind of behind me pushing...helping the battery..ha..ha.. We did make it to the van...and it's on the charger right now.  What did you do today?

Happy 1st day of September

I snapped this picture the other day as we went by our little flower plot. Soon they will be in full bloom!

Last night there was a lot of damage from the storms that went through south of here. I called my friend who lives there and she said they were so fortunate, as there were trees down in the yards on either side of them. She said as they drove around town (where they could drive), there were lots and lots of trees down. My son today, said the airport (which is in that same area) had a lot of damage to the hangar doors, siding and roofs. Apparently there were sideline winds that did all of this damage.

And to think of all the people who were camping in this. Lots of them were flipped over. I never heard of anyone being hurt or killed. (praise God!)

We also have golden rod, which I think needs to be either all taken out or at least really thinned out. I think its pretty, one year I brought some in and made a pretty bouquet for our dining room table. HOWEVER...soon it was dropping yellow dustings and even though they say it will not cause 'hay fever', I got really stuffed up, so threw them out, to never bring them in again!! smile... But, they are yellow....my favorite! smile...

Can you believe it's September already??? When I was updating our calendars I realized there are quite a few birthdays this month. And so far, not a lot of appointments...now I did say.."so far"... at the end of the month I'll let you know how much that statement changed...lol

Tomorrow, is my 6 month dental checkup, and cleaning. (And boy I know they need to be cleaned.)

What do you have lined up for this week??
