Flowers-Flowers-Flowes

Are you enjoying the flowers this autumn? It seems they are all in full bloom now. The other day when we were coming home, I saw these sunflowers...one of my favorite blooms. (Of course being a farmers daughter...sunflowers are normally not a friendly 'weed'..)

My son and I were both discussing this...how when  we each had to cut these flowers (weeds) down out of the bean fields. BUT...they are YELLOW, and their a flowers. I even love the name SUN-FLOWER!!! smile..

I told you I'd share with you how much my porch flowers have grown this summer.

 

Aren't they pretty?? My friend Laurie did an amazing job potting them didn't she??

 

These are hanging and are such a nice variety too... Their just perfect for this half basket. I bought the basket years ago and try to continue to use it every year as it fits perfect on the garage!

I've been busy finishing up the quarterly newsletter. Whew...another one done!

 

Our day was cool and gorgeous! Rusty and I sat outside for a long while. We just enjoyed watching and listening to the sounds of world going by!! (I kept hearing this clicking...as a bug or something flew by me.. I tried to see what it was. It landed here and there.. but couldn't get a good view of it. Even though it sounded somewhat familiar...different things went through my head.  Could it be a hummingbird? A butterfly (I did see the Monarchs flying by)?? NO...it ended up being a 'grasshopper'!! Ugggg...[another story for another day..])

 

My son, Randy continues to heal, it's been two months of H____ for him. But bless his heart he is a fighter and very strong in his faith. I pray soon he will be back to his new 'normal'. He and his lovely wife just celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary this week! She too is a very 'strong, caring, loving and God fearing woman. How blessed we are to have her in our family.

 

My sister in law, Karen is having more health issues and I would really appreciate your prayers and or good thoughts for her.

What day is this??

 

Yesterday we had to take my SIL to have a procedure done. Since we were close to the ponds that hold the geese I have taken pictures of before. But look.....nothing! I was very disappointed. bummer... I saw one of my photos on FB, which was posted a year ago today and they were everywhere! Uggg...

What a predicament these truck drivers are in. They are hauling wind turbine blades. When they had to take an off ramp (due to some construction on the Interstate) they couldn't make the turns. I know they don't look too big in this photo but check the next few out.

I couldn't get the whole blade in the picture. Can you imagine?? Have you seen them in action? They are huge, and what a fantastic idea, to get our energy from the wind!!! First ones I saw were when we were going into California. (I was so fascinated by them.) Now you can head north of us and there are lots of them in farm fields.

 

Different view! They are off to the side on an off ramp, waiting for the DOT to figure out how they can get to where they are suppose to go! (Their company didn't do a pre-run to be sure they could make the run safely!!)

 

Today was our 29th wedding anniversary! Where did the years go??  We didn't do anything special, but look forward to going out for a nice dinner this coming week to celebrate.

Great Seminar and more...

 

Yesterday our skies in the afternoon were quite overcast and cloudy. The clouds were very pretty, but no matter what setting I put my camera on they didn't look as pretty as they really were.  

 

Last night we had a MS Seminar to go to...just across the river! Not far at all. It started at 6 p.m., so we left home at 5 (remember I said it was just across the bridge..smile..) When we were approaching it..all we saw were cars....all across the bridge...... Yikes! They were working on it..so had it down to a single lane of traffic. But....we got across and headed to the restaurant. The weather was extremely HOT,

and we saw a few boats out on the river, trying to beat the heat!!







 

They had a small room for us, and we did get there at a decent time. We got a good place to sit at a front table. The waitress came around and bought our drinks. The program coordinator had a problem with her computer. So that kind of slowed down the presentation. They also had about double the people than they expected... The tables had 8 people instead of 6..squeezed together. Then the waitresses came around and gave us our menu's and told us we could order 'anything' we wanted. Now this was really unusual, as they normally have a set menu.. I ordered a "surf and turf".. and Tom ordered a bone in ribeye steak. (one was $45 and one was $50--can you imagine??) So they got all orders, and then 'whoops' they said...they just found out..it had to be anything under $28. smile.. So, that made a smaller choice, but a good one. (And made a lot more sense..) Finally, the doctor started speaking and we got our food. Their kind of like a "lunch and learn" only it's a dinner and learn. smile.. After she spoke, they had an ambassador speaking also. He has been on the drug they spoke about for a couple years and was very happy with it. Finally, we finished eating (btw the salmon was 'amazing'!!) Then they came around with a dessert menu.. (over kill...ha..ha...) Tom got the ice cream sundae (pictured) and I ordered the cheesecake.. (I brought mine home and had it this afternoon...) I will ask my doctor about this pill they were talking about. Sounds too good to be true, no more shots! But I know there are a lot of side effects. So, we'll see...

 

 

Goodness, for us it was a late night. On our way home, we spotted the Hard Rock guitar all lit up!! When we finally got home around 9 p.m., we felt we needed to stay up for awhile, to let our food settle..ha.. Since we got up early, I finally was ready to go bed!!

 

This morning we had to get up early again to take my SIL to get a test. Then we did a little shopping. Nice day, but again very HOT, worse than yesterday! These huge sunflowers were really enjoying the sun today!! They must be about 10 foot tall. We go by them all the time...Tom was finally able to stop, so I could get a photo...smile..

 

By the way today was our 28th wedding anniversary!!!

Monday and a Giveaway!!

 

Monday, we went to the doctor for Tom's Protime. Everything was great and told him he wouldn't need to come back for 6 weeks instead of every month! yeah!!

 

So, to celebrate (good excuse huh?) we went out for breakfast! smile.. We crossed the river on one side of this town and came home crossing it down river on the other side!! Sure looked cold....

 

When we got home, we had a box in the mail! smile.. Who doesn't just love a package?? (Tom does too...) So I had him open it..he says, "Oh you got Christmas lights".. I tried not to chuckle... So I opened the Christmas light box and unwrapped the bubble wrapped cute little Salt and Pepper shakers that I won!! Did you notice Rusty checking out the bubble wrap. smile... (He likes packages too...) 

 

Now for the 'giveaway'! This is for my 1,000th post!! Can you believe I have written that many???  This beautiful 'springlike' eight pack of cards. There are two of each card! The card measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, envelopes included.  I have bought some other sets of these and they are very nice.  To enter just leave a message why you're ready for spring.. or whatever you'd like to share! Anniversary Day...

Today being our 26th anniversary we celebrated it by heading to the Farmers Market. Isn't this pumpkin cute??? Someone is very talented! smile... We 'had' to go down there to get some more doggie bones for Rusty...smile... He loved the homemade bones we got last week...

Tom spotted the neighborhood kittie today climbing a big tree! smile... He must have seen Tom taking the picture out the window...

And I spotted the Mama Cardinal tonight and I think she saw me...smile...

We went to the Senior Center today for lunch, as it was broasted chicken day today...smile... It was amazing as always and way too much to eat!! ha...

I hope you had as wonderful day today as we've had!  Tomorrow is our little Lorelai's first birthday!! Can you believe it's been a whole year??? Good night all...

"Anniversary"

These are the skies we woke up to this morning! It was thundering, lightening and threatening to rain! Tom wanted to set the garbage cans out, but it started to downpour.. however, within a half hour it was done! I think we got about  2 tenths of an inch! sad...

Today is our 25th wedding anniversary! smile.... My daughter and her husband were married later in the afternoon...so we celebrate our anniversarys together!!! smile...

I was waiting for Tom today when he went into the store...so I got these shots!!!  Aren't these flowers pretty??? Yeah!! I found some more yellow ones...smile...

For lunch we stopped and ate at Red Lobster!! One of our very favorite places to eat!!!! I just had to take a picture of the menu of the day, since it had todays date on it!! smile....

One nice thing...we had lots to take home!! smile... I'm still full...so maybe I'll eat mine tomorrow...smile...

As you know Tom is the cook at our house, so today we bought him a Belgin waffle iron and a counter top oven!! Tomorrow we will be having waffles for breakfast!!! smile...

I just got word that we won't be having a 'great grandbaby' tomorrow... the nursery at the hospital is "full" so it is planned for Thursday!!!  I will keep you posted on our baby Lily and when she will be joining us in this world!!!
