Robins Poem

Winter is over. Spring has sprung. Robins are singing, thinking cold weather is done. The Meteorologist says "Oh no, we will be having record lows, and 2 to 4 inches of snow!" School children smile, as they end their spring break. Tomorrow may bring snow and starting to school a couple hours late!
We woke to spring snow.. schools on time....Robins are sad as they sing their rhyme! "Spring...Spring...isn't it time??"

That was the poem I wrote to go with these pictures! We are still in winters grips..sad.. The snow and cold just won't stop.. Friday, my ladies braved the weather to come to Bible Study. I had the fireplace going to keep it warm and toasty in here.  Tomorrow is to be a little warmer, which will be nice, as I'm going to lunch with a friend! The rest of the week will be busy with doctor appointments, (yearly mammogram...do you get them too?) I always think of them as "smashograms"... ha! ha!

I hope you're all doing well and are able to see some spring where you live..

Bye for now...

Cold Night

Speaking of cold...this is what the river looked like today. Check out that ice floating down the Missouri...brrrrr

It was so bitter cold last night! And can you believe we went to our monthly potluck. All day, the sun was shining and it looked so beautiful outside. But, my son told me..Mom, the sunshine is deceiving..it's cold!! (He was right..) We were inside all day, my friend came up and cleaned the house...(awww it feels so good to have a clean house again!) Then my other friend came by and fixed my hair. Seemed like all of a sudden we were suppose to head out to the potluck. We had such a nice time, and as always, it was so good to see everyone. BUT it was so...so COLD. The temperature was low, but with the wind, it drove it down to about 0. However, after we got home (when we thought it felt terrible outside) the wind increased, to the point it made the house creak, moan and groan. I was so glad it waited for us to get home...smile...

How about you? What kind of weather are you experiencing??

Happy New Years Eve

This morning we had below zero temperatures, and wind chills close to 30 below!! Rusty was smart, after he came in with his poor little cold feet, he laid down by the fire and got nice and toasty!!! My friend stopped by early and fixed my hair on her way to work! (Bless her heart!!) My other friend decided to stay home and will come next week to clean the house. I told her to do what she was comfortable with. (We had snow the day before and since we live on a hill it can be difficult getting up here!! smile.. Trust me I know!!)

Well, have you made any resolutions or things to improve your life?? I told Tom since it's always such a hassle everyday to figure out what to cook or buy for dinner, that we should go to the Senior Center and have lunch there. They cook healthy and filling meals at a very reasonable price. Plus, that would make us get up and go every day and visit with friends etc..! LOL (We only live about 2 miles from the Center!!) (And if Karen doesn't want to come along, we can get a to-go dinner for her!!) Doesn't that sound like a good idea???

I hope you are all staying safe and looking forward to a healthy and blessed New Year!

My New Year’s resolutions are simple. I resolve to be more patient, less selfish, cherish my friends, and in my small way help whoever needs help. I cannot conceivably influence the world’s destiny, but I can make my own life more worthwhile. I can give some help to some people; that is not vital to all the world’s problems and yet I think if everyone did just that, we might see quite a world in our time!

Busy Cold Day

We headed off this cold morning to see Tom's heart doctor! (Remember he had to wear the heart monitor??) He added another medicine for him and wants him to wear another heart monitor in 3 months!

Afterwards we went out to a drive in for a loose meat for lunch. Tom has missed going there. So, that's what we did...lol (Made his day!) Oh, yes and he also got some of their famous onion chips. (I didn't have any of them, as they are way too greasy...lol)

We stopped and bought some suet............our birds (and squirrels) have eaten everything we had!! So we'll see how happy they are tomorrow!

We had other appointments and by the time we got home I was 'tired'............ Tom then had to take Karen to an appointment she had. Poor guy, he had a busy one and I think ready for bed.

Tomorrow will be another busy one...  Guess that is good. The weekend is to be warmer, then back to the deep freeze! The Farmers Almanac  said it was suppose to be bitter cold here this winter and I guess they were right, at last its started out that way. (But thank God we're not having the snow that Buffalo is having...my prayers are with them.)
