More from June & July

We had our South Bottoms reunion the first of June.  This is what we plan, as we have our potlucks each month. We had a great turnout. Of course each year, there are less and less. The average age of the survivors of this area of town, is probably 80.

My girlfriend took me out to coffee, the first week of June. This little hideaway --so to speak--is so fun to go to. They have muffins, Keisha, scoffles and some of the best coffee ever! I think it's Mondays..you buy one get one free (muffins that is!). They are huge and delious! It's called The Koffie Knechtion.  Also on their property, they have a tree house it is a B&B. People rent it, it has a bed...a fireplace with a bathroom. So neat. You could probably Google it and find out more!

I spotted these beautiful flowers as I was leaving the doctors office one day. They are so pretty!  Are you like me? Do you just want to dehead plants like these?? Ha Ha But of course I did not touch them. I just turned around and walked away. 😊

That same day, I noticed I had a low back tire, so I went to the tire shop to get it fixed. They were so nice to me. The owner said I could just stay in the van and they'd fix it. This gentleman has been there for a long time. He always remembers me, and when Brenda was here this spring and we went in there, we visited wth him then too. So he asked me about her. Well, bottom line...they didn't charge me, since I bought my tires there! That made for a good day!

This is what my naughty cat did...twice as a matter of fact! The leaves hung down and she just thought they were something to play with I guess!! I did have to get rid of it. That was a sad day, as Tom had got this cactus for me years ago. But...I still "L❤️VE" her!

I had such pretty tiger lillies this year. Do any of you have them? They are quite common around here!!

I will end this post, as always, with a picture of "Winter", she is now taking over my desk....lol But isn't she beautiful? (Even though she can be naughty!)

Blessings to all and good night!

God's Blessings

Yesterday I was out on the deck, I spotted this little squirrel running around the tree! When he spotted us, he froze in this position! Funny.............

I had been down stairs stretching and exercising, so I thought we'd step out and see what was blooming in our backyard!! Here is that bush I showed you earlier. Still not sure what it is, only that it's pretty and smells so sweet!!!

I only had my cell phone with me so took these photos with it! I was so excited to see all these volunteer pansies. They are so pretty!
Remember last year, when we had these gorgeous hanging baskets?? Well, they dropped lots of seeds I guess as that is where my volunteer ones came from..smile...

Isn't it surprising how they just flourish in among the rocks??

 Their just everywhere...

I also noticed our yucca plant will have blooms on it this year! They are so pretty. Do you have one? Once it starts to bloom, I hope to get out there with my 'camera' and photograph it!!

Hope you're looking forward to a nice weekend!! I'd appreciate some prayers or good vibes that our weather stays good tomorrow. We're having our South Bottom's reunion dinner tomorrow night...than a potluck dinner Sunday!!! Their saying rain and storms..sad..

Winter Again??

This afternoon it started to "snow" and didn't let up... I couldn't believe it...as our high yesterday was 82!!! Then 32 or 33 for a high today! These stoplights were covered with snow. You really couldn't see whether the lights were green or red! Now that is dangerous.

We had to take my SIL to the infusion center, I was concerned about having to drive in this weather. My son said that highways were slick and a semi and car were in the ditch where we were heading to..sad... I was worried, but she felt she had to go...so off we went. It was so slushy and the visibility was terrible.. We did see those vehicles in the ditch...but made it okay. The ride home was much better as the snow had quit!!!

Thought I'd share some more pictures, from left to right, my daughter, son and niece!

The younger cousins...left to right, great niece, 3 granddaughters, grandson, and granddaughter..smile..

Last but not least, this is me with my brother and his daughter!! Love reunions!!

Hope you had a wonderful SONday!

Reunions

Look what I spotted yesterday when we pulled up to the Elk's for Tom's family reunion! Aren't they absolutely beautiful?? I've not seen a lot of blue flowers, but I love these along with the yellow ones! smile.. You know me and 'yellow' flowers or anything else that is 'yellow'....lol

On that note, I must share God's blessings and works in our life with you. We got to the reunion a little after noon, and the parking lot was full!!! We couldn't believe it...wow! what a turn out. Tom said he'd pull up to the door and get Karen and I out, then try to find somewhere to park. When he pulled up....there was a 'handi cap' spot right by the front door. "Praise God!"

THEN today, we were talking about a tree limb that had fallen in our yard, after the wind storm we had last week. It needed to be cut up to put out for the garbage men or taken to the dump. He couldn't find his chain saw, (which was okay with me, since he's on coumidan...and I'm always afraid he might cut himself--that is dangerous in my option!) He walked down to get pickup and saw the neighbor out there, while visiting, Tom found out he was going to the dump and said "whatever we had, just throw it in." Yeah!! One less thing to worry about. "Praise God"!!

Here are a couple pictures from yesterday. I had my back to everyone, so didn't get many photos. This is Tom's sister Karen and his second cousin Vivian, who came with her two daughters from out of town.

This is Wilfred and his wife, who is also Tom's cousin. They came in from Austin, TX. He's had lots of problems with complications from his back surgery, so we're afraid this will be their last year of attending. sad... But bless their hearts for making this last trip.

This is what we took to the reunion potluck "Corn Casserole". I posted the entire recipe here. A lady I worked with years ago gave me this recipe when I told her we were attending a monthly potluck. She said her mother always made this when she'd attend her church potlucks. I love the fact that it's so easy and almost always have these items in your pantry! (I use the crockpot...but can also make it in the oven.!

I just had to end this post with this lovely picture! I hope you've all had a wonderful weekend and are looking forward to a nice week! Ours is going to continue to be 'hot'. We need rain, so that is on my prayer list..how is your weather? Let me know, I will pray for you also. Happy SONday!!

more as it happens here in the city...........

Double Reunion

What a lovely day...my niece Marcie from the west coast came to visit! Sweet!!! It was so nice to see and visit with her.

Yesterday, we had Tom's family reunion, it was really nice to see everyone again. Some we hadn't seen for years and others since last year..smile...  For our potluck we made this "Rainbow Pasta Salad", it is such a wonderful salad especially for a potluck, as it makes a big bowl! And "oh my how tasty it is!!"

Rainbow Pasta Salad
1 pkg. (1 pound) tricolor spiral pasta
2 medium carrots, shredded
1 large red onion, chopped
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1/2 tps. Celery seed or 2 celery ribs, chopped
1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
1 cup vinegar
1 cup mayonnaise
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2-1 tsp. pepper
Cook pasta according to package directions. Rinse in cold water  & drain; place in a large
bowl. Add carrots, onion, green pepper and celery seed. In another bowl, combine the
remaining ingredients. Pour over pasta mixture and toss to coat. Cover & refrigerate
for 8 hours or overnight.

Hope you  had a blessed day!
