Woohoo...we did it!!!

We have been working towards this for the last few years or more.......and I can't believe it's almost done!!! We woke up this morning and I thought...this is the day, when we will finally be happy with our results! And tonight as I write this blog I am smiling.. full of satisfaction....and I think Tom is too..although he had to do most of the physical work getting this job done!!!

Yes...we have an almost clean fridge!!! I told Tom we'd do a "simple"..ha..ha...project each week (or year..smile...). And this week is the refrigerator week! smile.... I was surprised at the outdated stuff we had in there. It seems a person buys, a dressing or a mustard or another ingredient for a recipe, which only calls for a small amount, and the next thing you know..it's several years old and still in the fridge...lol or at least it seems that way. I'm so excited...to start all over again...smile... How often do you clean your refrigerator?? Or maybe you use everything up and only have fresh items in yours...tell me how you do it and if you have some cleaning ideas.

Now to the elections...I am so glad they are finally over and we can go forward, without phone calls and a mailbox full of advertisements... Speaking of...I'm sure that was a push for the postal service and now it's over...hopefully they won't stop Saturday's mail service, which I know they have been thinking about doing. I don't know about you...but we really still look forward to getting mail each day. Just like this postcard we received the other day from our friend Betty, who lives in Australia! This was when she was on a recent trip through some marvelous gardens. Check out her blog GUM LEAVES here and see all the beauty that she experienced!

Tomorrow, we hope to take a road trip to South Dakota, the weather sounds wonderful, so I'm looking forward to it! What are you doing this week? Anything special??

I Love the US Mail!!!

Yesterday when we got the mail...this lovely birthday card and beautiful handkerchief were in it!!! I was so excited to have 'personal' mail first of all...and then to have it from a new dear friend!!! Isn't the Internet and blogging just wonderful??? To think of all these friends we would never have known!!! Amazing huh?? Do you see this big 'smile' on my face??? That is what she put on mine!!! --Oh and by the way...I will be saving this card and envelope in a special binder...thanks to my daughter and Pinterest! When I'm finished with it I will share a picture with you!!

We also got a package from my daughter Brenda and her family... Rusty..'smelled' his package...smile.... I helped him open the sack and 'walla' he had a dogie cookie!! The other gifts were amazing also! It is always so much fun to get mail...(I pray they never get rid of the US Mail Service)...

Today we got a letter from the TV Station that showed my picture (above) as their Fan Photo of the Day last Saturday. We won 4 tickets for 2 McDonalds Egg McMuffins and 2 cheeseburgers!! Now how exciting is that??? Love....love....love that mail!!!

I told you I'd let you know how I did with the Cricut...well it truly is a fun machine and can cut many things. I have been having some health issues these last few days so have not been able to get back down there to "play" anymore. But once I do...I will share some of the items with you!!! smile... (Did I hear something about Valentines day coming up??? hummm...)

I just had a cup of hot tea...Tom made homemade 'Chicken Noodle Soup' for lunch...so I'm doing much better tonight. Tomorrow will be a 'brrr' cold day...I noticed they just mentioned 30 below wind chills...I can just see our fireplace blazing away....smile...

Blessings.............

My last few days...

The first of the week we went down and I got a perm!! This is a creek we crossed heading into to town! Our friend lives in a small town south of here... It felt so good to get my hair cut and curled...smile...

One day I spent the day writing my Christmas letter and getting the cards ready to mail!!!

How I love the mail!! My sweet cousin sent this bird book marker! You can't see it but it looks like 3-D! So...cool and how blessed I am... I have placed it in my journal, so each day when I see it, it reminds me of her!!

One night we went to a MS Seminar and one of the speakers gave us these cute little tags, as a gift, and if we chose to, we could share them with someone who we think my need a lift or to someone who has done something for us! (I shared mine..) Aren't they cute??

Today....I received this in the mail...Isn't it just beautiful? And lovely?? It came from a new blogger friend!  Isn't God good??? Oh yes, he is!! I just feel so blessed... How about you?? What kind of day or week have you been having?? I care and would really love to hear...

I will get caught up and put the Memories of Grace back on...sorry I've been so lax...just too much to do right now during this time of the year!!

Happy Halloweeny....

On every holiday our mail lady dresses for the occasion!! She is so precious!! One year I got a picture of her in her bunny socks and ear rings...smile.... But this year, I missed her and I was so bummed..;( I saw her across the street but couldn't get to her in time to take her picture...sad...  The other day I asked her if she was going to dress up for Halloween, and if so ring the door bell so I could get a picture of her...smile... She said if she could she'd certainly 'ring' the bell! smile...  This morning, we packed a bag of goodies for her!!

When the doorbell rang we were so excited!!! Tom got to the door first with the camera and got her picture, however when I got there and visited with her a little bit...she told me about her socks! And look!!! Aren't they cute??? I just had to take a picture of them. smile....

Tom was busy...busy...busy all day!!! I finally had to call him in!! He was trimming bushes and carrying them to put in a pile. When I looked out..he was just dragging...I felt so bad... I'm sure he will sleep good tonight...smile...  Now me I was working on the Medicare program...trying to find the most reasonable policy for our drugs...now that gave me a headache!! smile...

I also had an e-mail from our friend at the Museum and I was telling him about Mom's diary and how she said they went and ate at the Savoy, then her and her friends went upstairs and peeped!! He sent me a picture of the Savoy!!! And here it is along with an excerpt from his e mail!  I have attached an image of the Savoy Cafe at 610 4th St. from the 1940s. (the cafe is on the right) In 1936, above the Savoy, at 610 1/2 4th Street was Frank's Hotel. This hotel was operated by Marie Bevington, and possibly could have been a hot spot for prostitution. Great story, eh?

Ha...ha...no wonder they wanted to "peep"...

Hope you're having a Happy Halloween and that you got lots of treats!!!  Blessings...
