A New Bird at the Feeder

When I saw this bird at the feeder I had no idea exactly what it was.. So, I asked on FB, and got a reply from a friend that it was a Warbler!! Later, I found out it is a Blackpoll Warbler, as it has yellow/orange legs and feet! They should not be this far north at this time of the year. So not sure what's going on with them, as there was one here again this morning.

We've also been having some beautiful sun rises in the mornings ...and of course that means I have been up early to see them...lol.

And when I'm looking out the window at them.. I also see this little fat guy! ~smile~ Our temperatures have been pretty nice too..  I had some appointments this week, and the first one was on a very windy day.. We had gusts up to 50 mph! So I was thankful I had a friend take me. The others on Thursday I drove, and all went well. But the high was only 34 degrees...so was a bit nippy out there! I had won a dozen donuts, so stopped and picked them up...they had done a variety of their pastries....I shared them with the ladies at our Bible Study Friday morning! Yumm...they all loved them!

Speaking of winning! I won this first chapter of Susan Branches, soon to be published new book "Enchanted"! Trust me, you are going to want to get this one!! I am so anxious now to continue on with the book!!

Hope you're all well and are escaping some of this winter weather this weekend. It is to be south of us. So very little of any snow here.

More as it happens and God bless!!

❤️Happy Valentine's Day❤️

I hope this finds everyone doing well. We had a gorgeous Valentine's Day with temperatures in the 40's...wooo hooo!! Especially since we've had below zero numbers lately! Of course this spring like day won't last.  It it was nice to have the doors open and get a little fresh air in!

I went to my doctors appointments yesterday. Kind of nice to get out and about! Rusty was jealous...but today he went to his vet for his yearly shots. He's tired tonight...

Finally got the fans and dehumidifiers removed yesterday. That was a relief (noise wise anyway)! Now on to the next step of repairs!

Hope your day was filled with lots of Love!

Please pray for those effected by that school shooting today.

Bye for now....

Little of This and That...

We spotted these turkeys the other day. They were walking across the street, back and forth. We noticed a few of them would lay down, see her in the right corner? It wasn't just one of them that did this. Then they'd get up and walk off. (Anyone know why??)

We had a few birds at the feeder today.  Even saw a 'snow' bird at the feeder, along with a robin at the bird bath.

Oh, here is that water tower I showed you a shot of yesterday. Pretty, huh?? Can't you just see yourself sitting on one of those benches, watching and listening to the music at the band shell??

Every Sunday, in the summer months the symphony plays beautiful music here. We've never went, but I've heard it is really nice! Doesn't it look peaceful?? Once a year they have a concert they call Saturday in the Park. (Again never been...but look at the next picture that was taken from the air) and you'll see why...lol

Now you know why we stay away...lol

Now look what fun the great granddaughters had at the Scarecrow farm. Yesterday, the twins Mom took them there and today their Meme and Great Grandma took Lorelai there. Aren't there a lot of fun things for the children to do?? And how blessed we are here this year with temperatures in the 70's. I can't wait to see them in their Halloween outfits!!

I know Christmas will soon be here too. Speaking of that...Tom put the lights out today on the bushes!! smile.. We did also get out yard cleaned up and everything winterized and put away.

I have a request, a Red Hat friend of mine, Darlene, is loosing her battle with cancer and is not expected to live through the weekend. I would appreciate prayers for a peaceful passing for her and for her family. (thank you special ladies)

How was your weekend?

Sure hope you're feeling refreshed after your long weekend! Or not too tired or sore from it...lol  I remember the days of camping and fishing etc. over the holidays...and then back to work on Monday! Wow, how did we do it?? And enjoy it?? ha..ha.... Friday as I told you in my previous post, we went for a walk...well when we were out and about I spotted these beautiful lilies. Aren't they pretty? Mine haven't bloomed yet this year. Hopefully, they will be okay. (We had a really hard winter...)

Then I spotted these daisies among weeds and other things. Both of these houses are empty and yet these pretty flowers keep coming back, even though their unattended. (This lady will be home soon, I hope, as I've always loved seeing her little flower garden.)  The walk was a little much for me, I've been sore for the last couple days..sad... But I've been taking it easy so it will be fine!

Speaking of taking it easy...Saturday and Sunday were so HOT (our heat index yesterday was 105 degrees,so...I think getting under this little water fall would feel really good...ha...ha..) We actually watched a couple movies...one being the Son of God, it was really good. The other was Olympus Down..it too was good only in a different way. Tomorrow will be a busy one, Tom and I both go to the doctor for some regular tests. Also, we're all getting better with our colds... (thank goodness)

Good night......

These Guys Made me Happy...

Today we went to the doctor (so what's new? lol) and we thought we'd check out our favorite spot to see the Canadian Geese. When I looked...the little lake had none! I was so bummed. Then across the road, Tom said there they are way at the other end of the pond. So I zoomed in and yes there they were. But it wasn't a very good shot..

So, we were leaving and look what was crossing the road around the corner?? smile.. I was so excited!!

Then the final one gets to the grass...

And look at all of them..."there everywhere...there everywhere.."  ha...ha...

We parked and I got some closer shots.. smile... as they waddled over toward the water..

Look at these two... I don't think they were too happy with us invading their space.

They are unique in their own way, aren't they?? Look at that neck.. Amazing...

They decided to leave us and ran away...but only after we got to watch and photograph them. So, yes I am 'happy'...smile..

I'm really glad to say, I am feeling better and pray it continues. Tom is also improving, but it sounds like my SIL is getting it now..sad..  Seems everyone you talk to, they or someone they know has had it.

Do you have plans for the fourth?? Not us, Tom might grill some steaks (that we've had in the freezer--meat is pretty expensive now. Sure hope the farmers are getting some of it!!) Course I guess everything costs more! Well, I hope what ever your plans, that you enjoy this first weekend of July and there aren't too many fireworks going off in your neighborhood...lol

The Day After the Night Before....

Last night the fireworks went off way into the evening... We stayed up for an extra hour later than we usually do..so at least the noise of the TV would help drown out the booming of the fireworks. Finally we had to go to bed and I'm sure he didn't sleep too well. (Poor baby....) He was pooped out today and did a lot of snoozing..

First, I'm sorry for the quality of this picture...but I was going through some old pictures and came across this one, and thought everyone would enjoy seeing a glimpse into my bedroom back in 1958. smile... Do you think I liked Elvis? smile...

Someone on Facebook asked if I still had the quilt that was on my bed (above), which I don't (I'm sorry to say), but I knew Grandma Gertie had quilted it...as I knew her style. She always measured the width of her stitches with a yard stick. smile... So thought I'd share this one she made for me as a baby. The reason it is pink, blue and yellow is they didn't know what I would be. Girl or Boy?? Especially since the doctor had predicted by the strong heart beat I'd be a boy....what a surprise...huh??

Yesterday our water heater went on the blink...sad... We called this morning and they said they'd squeeze us in sometime during the day.. She asked if we were going to be home, and I said "Of course, as grubby as we  are we can't leave the house...lol" She really laughed...  Then about 2 o'clock this afternoon, the electricity went off...Just in an instant the house became sooo quiet. Tom and Rusty were taking their afternoon naps, I called the electric company and reported the outage. I did some reading while it was so 'quiet' in here...about a half hour later, the beautiful noise returned to house! From the sound of the air conditioner cranking away to the refrigerator motor purring! My men woke up and Rusty heard something in the driveway...so the barking began! smile... Sure enough the repairman was here (perfect timing) and put a part in our water heater and got it going again. So...all is well once again at our house! smile...

Tomorrow is Red Hat day...smile... thank goodness for electricity and "hot water"!! smile... How has your day been?? I love hearing how you all are doing and what's going on in your lives....

Storm Clouds are a Brewing...

Our evening has been plagued with rolling thunder, ominous clouds, threatening weather predictions. And now the rain is pouring down. It seems an almost normal Memorial Day weekend...rain! rain! rain! We use to go camping for several years and it was inevitable that it would rain!!  smile...

Blessings to you and yours this long weekend.....

Happy Easter...

I hope you had a beautiful day.... ours was lovely...we went to church at 8, then the men of the church provided breakfast. It was so nice...and fellowship was exactly what we needed...  Afterwards, we went home and rested for a few hours and then went over to our son and daughter in love's mothers house for dinner...

And guess who was there....little Lorelai...and her grandpa...(my Randy..smile...) She was all dressed up in her Easter dress..they put a headband on her and gave her a little purse! sweet....

And of course here I am...she is so sweet...love...love...love!!

Tom had granddaughter Wendy's little dog Crue on his lap....smile... isn't he cute???

They put Lorelai in a more comfortable outfit...and we gave her...her Easter book... she got to feel the fuzzy bunny...etc. All the animals in the book had something to feel.... sweet... She does love books...just like her Mommy...
And of course it was a day to celebrate our grandson Jesse's 18th birthday!!! Can't believe how he has grown into such a handsome young man!!

Well, each day...I continue to feel better as the day goes by...and I thank you for all your prayers...

Busy day..before Thanksgiving....

Thanksgiving

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
For love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.

- Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)

We spent our day...working...working...working! smile... I found a recipe to make a turkey breast and gravy in the crock pot! So...we did most of the prep work early this morning. Then as we were working at it..we decided to make it today and just warm it up tomorrow! So........that is what we did. We also made our crock pot dressing (and will cook it tomorrow) and a salad. smile... We did make time to watch "Home Alone"... if you haven't seen it, be sure to check it out...if you want a good laugh...then check it out!! smile... it is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen!! What a great way to end a busy day!!!!!!

I pray you have a Happy Thanksgiving and eat way too much....smile....

Happy Halloweeny....

On every holiday our mail lady dresses for the occasion!! She is so precious!! One year I got a picture of her in her bunny socks and ear rings...smile.... But this year, I missed her and I was so bummed..;( I saw her across the street but couldn't get to her in time to take her picture...sad...  The other day I asked her if she was going to dress up for Halloween, and if so ring the door bell so I could get a picture of her...smile... She said if she could she'd certainly 'ring' the bell! smile...  This morning, we packed a bag of goodies for her!!

When the doorbell rang we were so excited!!! Tom got to the door first with the camera and got her picture, however when I got there and visited with her a little bit...she told me about her socks! And look!!! Aren't they cute??? I just had to take a picture of them. smile....

Tom was busy...busy...busy all day!!! I finally had to call him in!! He was trimming bushes and carrying them to put in a pile. When I looked out..he was just dragging...I felt so bad... I'm sure he will sleep good tonight...smile...  Now me I was working on the Medicare program...trying to find the most reasonable policy for our drugs...now that gave me a headache!! smile...

I also had an e-mail from our friend at the Museum and I was telling him about Mom's diary and how she said they went and ate at the Savoy, then her and her friends went upstairs and peeped!! He sent me a picture of the Savoy!!! And here it is along with an excerpt from his e mail!  I have attached an image of the Savoy Cafe at 610 4th St. from the 1940s. (the cafe is on the right) In 1936, above the Savoy, at 610 1/2 4th Street was Frank's Hotel. This hotel was operated by Marie Bevington, and possibly could have been a hot spot for prostitution. Great story, eh?

Ha...ha...no wonder they wanted to "peep"...

Hope you're having a Happy Halloween and that you got lots of treats!!!  Blessings...

"Happy Fourth"

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism. ~Erma Bombeck

I've always loved this quote by Erma Bombeck!! I hope you are enjoying your day and doing some fun stuff!! We had Tom's sister over for dinner.. Tom grilled some burgers and made some sweet corn. The burgers were so good with lettuce, sweet onion and tomatoes! I decided to make potato salad this morning, first I had to make sure we had enough eggs and potatoes, which we did, so into the pot they went..smile... After they cooked and were cooling..we went down stairs, stretched then we cleaned in the basement a little bit... Since I took my MS shot last night, it doesn't take much to poop me out..but at least we did get a little bit done.. smile... Of course lunch was great and the potato salad went over real well...we even sent some home with Karen...since she brought her empty bowls back...ha...ha...

What did you do today?? I'd love to hear all about it....

Finally...I caught the Wren...

As you know...I have been trying to get a picture of this Wren...

day after day...hour after hour........

I would hear it singing but couldn't see it...

Until today...smile... Tom said there were two of them..(maybe a Mom and a Dad) we could hear them singing and singing...and finally I was able to snap a few shots!! smile... Wouldn't it be neat if we get to see those babies one day??? smile...

Happy "1st of July" and hope you all have a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend!!

What will you be doing?? I'd love to hear..

Fourth of July signs.....

I kept asking Tom to find our flag to put out in the yard....so when we left today I looked up and there was this little man....smile... I said "Oh my gosh..he is soooo cute I forgot we had him!" Tom said, "well you wanted me to put it out"....

But actually this was the flag I was thinking of...smile.. sure glad he found our little "Fourth of July" man...smile.. I like the reflector flag and it looks good here, but LOVE our little man.....

After a wonderful 'therapy' session today we headed to the Farmer's Market! We had told another lady at therapy about the great tomatoes and fingerling potatoes at the Market...well once we got there, we found out they didn't have any fingerling potatoes, sad... We ran into them at the Market as they were looking for them, we let them know she would have some in a couple weeks..so they took her and our name down...so we have potatoes to look forward to in a couple of weeks......smile...

This gentleman has been at the Market for years...and always has a large array of vegetables... However, we ended up getting some cookies (yumm) tomatoes...large and small and 'oh yes' some lip balm... hers are wonderful!!! I had got some from her last year...

Then when we got home and opened the mail..look what a wonderful friend I have found....Betty Jo sent this sweet card and piece that she had tattered.. This is something I've never been able to do..what a gift she has and what a blessing she has been to me...just made my day!!!

Then this evening as I looked out the window see what I spotted, a "Baltimore Orange Oriole"...

And this Robin like Thrust.... Boy, I had my bird book out trying to figure out what kind of bird they were...I think these are correct... If you believe they are something different be sure and let me know...smile.. How about you?? Have you had any 'strange or different' birds at your house?? Please....leave a comment and let me know... as my pictures can tell you...I LOVE BIRDS......smile....
