"Oh Rusty Boy" (not Oh Danny Boy...lol)

Look at my grumpy boy!! ha! ha! I said "he looks like a grumpy old man.."

But look at him, once he got home, he was a happy camper.

Sorry this was from last year, but couldn't pass on it. smile... You did deserve to see him in all his glory!!! He did go to the groomer last week, but she didn't get his pictures put up and after all it is St. Patrick's Day today!!!

So sorry I have been among the missing...life has been hectic or maybe a better phrase is "delightfully busy"! I had been so busy working on the quarterly newsletter and finally got that out!! Yay!!! It always feels so good to finish it all up and sent off!! (Wouldn't that be terrible if they ever ended up shutting down the postal service???) I'm always signing petitions to keep it going!!! I love sending and receiving letters and cards-what a sad day that will be if it ever happens.

I've been having Bible Study (The 40 Acts) here every Friday, that has been such a joy for me!! I miss the fellowship, which is so important for a person.

Afterwards my son came over, I had some errands to run. We were busy returning another dog bed, that didn't work for Rusty. I got a different one 'again', I just think it would help his arthritis if he'd lay on that during the day instead of the floor. But it's going to take some persuading I'm afraid.. Lots of treats maybe??

When we finally got home Randy thought he lost the keys to the van...

I would never have found them...but he did!! Do you see them?? As he brushed by the bushes they pulled off his pocket and stuck in these bushes. Do you see the round circle (must have been a shadow on my camera lens), well their hanging just up and to the left. Their black and silver!! smile...

I had a list as long as Santa's of things for Randy to do when we got home! (Mommy do's, as I call them.) Take stuff downstairs, bring stuff up stairs, change a light bulb, water a hanging plant, change the time on a clock and hang it back up, dump garbage, dump papers...and pick up Rusty's poop!!

What a blessing he is. God has been so good and blessed me so much!!

My daughter and her husband have been vacationing in San Francisco this week. She sent a text this morning that they were taking a ferry to Sausalito, but first they had to take a trolley to get to the pier. She sent a picture too, (but I can't figure out how to save it on my computer), anyway, she said they were packed into the trolley like sardines...and by the look of the picture she was right!!!! Unbelievable!!!

Hope everyone is well and that you had a wonderful St. Patrick's Day!!

More to come...I promise!!

First Snowfall of the Season

Hello Friends! I'm so sorry I've been among the missing. Life has been hectic around here. But, today was the beginning of winter here in Iowa!! We were not to get very much, so I wasn't worried about it. However, in the night (or very early morning hours) we got some 'thunder snow'. The wind and the temperatures have been so different than what we've been use to. We're back to having wind chills.. brrrr.. Obviously, I didn't leave the house..smile... But with those high winds and heavy snow on the trees, I have a few limbs down in the yard. We only got about an inch of snow, but the winds really don't help...

This was out front of the house, as the day went by, there was a little melting.

I noticed the neighbors tree still has some leaves hanging on...I'm sure this will end what life they have left in them and they will fall to the ground very soon.

It was pretty to look at, but sure let everyone know...it's time for a change. We've been so lucky. Up until yesterday afternoon, I've had windows either open or at least cracked a little bit. But as the temps dropped last night, I knew it was time to close them for the year! My son, came over yesterday and shut the electric to the air conditioner off and got it covered up. I really am glad I don't have to run it anymore though...smile...

I baked a few cookies today, that not only made the house smell amazingly yummy, but the oven warmed it up in here.

Tomorrow my daughter, her husband and my granddaughter are heading to Iowa from Georgia!! They will be here all next week!! I'm so excited, I can hardly stand it!!! I know it will go by fast, so must savor every minute!!!

I would appreciate your good thoughts and prayers for my sister in law as she continues to fight her battle with cancer. This will be a difficult time for her...

Off to bed, tomorrow is another day (without snow) I hope... Tell me what kind of weather you have been having...

What a Glorious Weekend

Last Thursday my family arrived from Georgia for my daughters wedding!! We were feeling so bad, as our weather had drastically changed from the week before. It had been in the upper 60's and 70 degrees. When they arrived it was in the 50's. We should learn to always be thankful for what God gives us...as this week, we had the "spring blizzard". I don't even want to think of how miserable that would have been for them. First of all they wouldn't have even made it up to our house... Whew...smile...
Our granddaughter Amanda, scurried through the door, to give grandma a big ((hug))...

And John, (the groom to be) was welcomed by Rusty!! ha! ha!!
That was a fun evening, we got pizza and enjoyed catching up on our lives.
The next morning, we were up early (so my friend could do my hair before she went to work!) After we went to breakfast at Perkins, the couple had to stop at the courthouse to pick up their marriage license!! (They were so funny...wish I'd have gotten a picture of it...they came 'skipping'...yes skipping down the street!!!) Then they had some other errands to run.
Finally, Saturday, the big day came and it was a whirlwind of things to do. The 'bride to be' had to get her hair and nails done, while the 'groom to be' had to take care of the flowers...among many other things! Later of course the 'bride to be' had to get dressed, with the help of her bridesmaid. (Her Amanda..) plus get to the church on time..smile.. That was the responsibility of her brother, Randy!! As I was waiting in the church, all I could envision was him with a cattle prod...poking her along...ha..ha!!!  But, I'm sure he learnt a lesson, you 'can't' hurry a bride to be!!!

The service was beautiful!! The music, the vows, the love that showed on their faces.

Then there was the reception...which was wonderful.. From the appetizers, entree'and the fantastic cake!! (How they got all this put together in such a short time was unbelievable!) Everyone really enjoyed it, but especially me.. Made me feel very special..

They flew out Sunday, so it was a short amount of time, but there was a lot of memories made during those few days. I will cherish them forever.

Tonight, they are having their reception back at home, with their friends and family. Then Monday off to St. Lucia! (How romantic is that??) I can't wait to hear all about it and see all the photos!!

Happy Easter my friends..
