What a Glorious Weekend

Last Thursday my family arrived from Georgia for my daughters wedding!! We were feeling so bad, as our weather had drastically changed from the week before. It had been in the upper 60's and 70 degrees. When they arrived it was in the 50's. We should learn to always be thankful for what God gives us...as this week, we had the "spring blizzard". I don't even want to think of how miserable that would have been for them. First of all they wouldn't have even made it up to our house... Whew...smile...
Our granddaughter Amanda, scurried through the door, to give grandma a big ((hug))...

And John, (the groom to be) was welcomed by Rusty!! ha! ha!!
That was a fun evening, we got pizza and enjoyed catching up on our lives.
The next morning, we were up early (so my friend could do my hair before she went to work!) After we went to breakfast at Perkins, the couple had to stop at the courthouse to pick up their marriage license!! (They were so funny...wish I'd have gotten a picture of it...they came 'skipping'...yes skipping down the street!!!) Then they had some other errands to run.
Finally, Saturday, the big day came and it was a whirlwind of things to do. The 'bride to be' had to get her hair and nails done, while the 'groom to be' had to take care of the flowers...among many other things! Later of course the 'bride to be' had to get dressed, with the help of her bridesmaid. (Her Amanda..) plus get to the church on time..smile.. That was the responsibility of her brother, Randy!! As I was waiting in the church, all I could envision was him with a cattle prod...poking her along...ha..ha!!!  But, I'm sure he learnt a lesson, you 'can't' hurry a bride to be!!!

The service was beautiful!! The music, the vows, the love that showed on their faces.

Then there was the reception...which was wonderful.. From the appetizers, entree'and the fantastic cake!! (How they got all this put together in such a short time was unbelievable!) Everyone really enjoyed it, but especially me.. Made me feel very special..

They flew out Sunday, so it was a short amount of time, but there was a lot of memories made during those few days. I will cherish them forever.

Tonight, they are having their reception back at home, with their friends and family. Then Monday off to St. Lucia! (How romantic is that??) I can't wait to hear all about it and see all the photos!!

Happy Easter my friends..

The Man in the Moon...

Last night we finally had a clear sky, so I asked Tom to step out and see if he could get a picture of it! And after a few shots he got this photo!! Isn't it pretty??? Did any of you see it? So pretty and amazing that our God has hung this wonderful Moon!

Speaking of the moons, I think our Ashley was way over the moon last Friday! smile... Isn't she pretty??

This week they were headed off on their honeymoon on an Amtrak train! Now we all know that in itself is an adventure...smile...

Ashley sent me this picture when they arrived at their destination....she said "Grandma look what I spotted! An Iowa Pacific train"...ha..ha...

Then how ironic, she sent this picture this morning...she spotted another Iowa sign...ha..ha...

I just had to end this post with a picture of sweet little Lorelai the day of the wedding! She looked either tired or bashful or maybe a little of both...lol So many of these photos were taken by Ashley's aunt and she shared them with us today. (She is always so thoughtful!

Tomorrow is to be very "hot" here, what will your weather be like? We have to go to the doctor, so this means we have to be out in it...but thank goodness for air conditioning!!!

We Attended a Wedding Tonight..

This is a picture of our Granddaughters Ashley and Amanda prior to Ashley's wedding tonight!! It was so cool to be able to attend her wedding via Face Time! First to see Amanda and the other bridesmaids walking down the aisle, then came Ashley and her dad walking down the aisle!! You could just see how proud her dad was of her!! (And of course that was the beginning of my tears...so glad I had a full box of Kleenexes! smile...) It was so neat when the minister mentioned who was attending the wedding...and she said Ashley's grandma and grandpa from Iowa, via Face Time!! smile...

Here was our sweet little Lorelai having fun (before the wedding) in the hotel pool!! Isn't she just adorable??? She looks so much like her Mommy at that age!

Last night my son Randy took this picture of the Tennessee River...isn't it beautiful?? It really is pretty down there in Alabama!

This morning around 7:30 Ashley called to talk about their rehearsal dinner the night before, and how little sleep she'd had (about 3 hours), but she said she'd be fine (and of course she was!)  It was interesting how they were able to set up the iPads so we could attend this wonderful wedding............smile.... Funny...I told Amanda I had even got my hair fixed this afternoon (my friend stopped by and fixed it!) just in case someone saw me on the iPad...lol She thought that was really hilarious! But it was a good thing because after the wedding Ashley saw me (on the iPad) and said "Hi Grandma"...smile.. just before they hollered at her for pictures! smile... Well, I know they are still celebrating as the evening goes on....but us old people are about ready for bed.....and we'll have "Sweet Dreams"...about a beautiful bride and a handsome groom!! Sweet and true love.....

How was your day? Did you do anything special??

Save the Date!

Our granddaughter Ashley and her fiancee will be getting married this spring and she has been working on preparing for this for a long time.

Yesterday among the mail was this really beautiful enveloped...personally addressed to us. I was so excited, and pulled it out, I noticed the pretty 'white rose' stamp and when I turned it over there was Ashley's return address...stamped on the back flap! (Isn't that return address stamp really neat??)

As I took  the card out...this is what I saw "Save the Date"! on the front of it. (their theme is the mason fruit jars!

On the top inside of the card was this unique calendar, with a heart stamped on the date!!

And this was the bottom of the inside of the card! Adorable!!!! huh?? Love this photo!!

When you remove the picture this is what you see!!! cool...

And this was the back of it! What do you think?? Aren't these just the cutest things you've ever seen?? She designed and printed them herself! Isn't she gifted?? I assumed she bought them already pre-designed... smile... I never thought of such a thing..sending out 'save the date' cards. Isn't that a great idea?? You know how people need to plan ahead of time to make vacation plans! And if you're going to attend a wedding, well that takes planning...smile...

I hope you've had a wonderful SONday. We stayed home of course, but were glad due to the cold temps and snow. I see the snowplows running up and down our streets right now. Tonight our temps are to be around 5 below, with windchills of around 20 some below... Winter has returned!!!

wishing you a furry of blessings.....
