A Spring Day...

Today we headed off to therapy once again!! Not sure how it's going...but the first of the week we'll try it again!! I have to see another doctor tomorrow about a cortisone injection. So...we'll see how that goes.

Isn't this scene pretty?? I love how beautiful farms can be... stirs up great memories for me. Growing up on a farm can make for a memorable life.

The birds have been flocking to the feeders. I hadn't seen the cardinals for awhile so was excited to see them tonight. We're to have rain over the weekend and hopefully it will green up everything! smile....

We stopped at the Senior Center after therapy today to have lunch. Who knew? They were serving broasted chicken! Yummm...the cafeteria was so full, we had a hard time finding an empty chair..ha..ha..  I couldn't believe our luck!! This is the best lunch they serve up there..and of course the price is the best part of it all..$4.95!!

Tomorrow is Red Hat's and no matter what I hope to be able to go...then afterwards I'll go to the doctor! Should be a busy day!

Hope your day was good...ours was spring like with temperatures at 61 degrees! smile...

Sink Holes?

This is no April Fools joke! Yes, there is a sinkhole right here in our city. When we were leaving to go to therapy we saw this big hole in the street. Funny...(not really) as we drove this street many times, Tom would always drive around the dip in the street and say, that will cave in someday! And of course I thought 'ya whatever!' Then when we saw the hole in the street today all I could think of was...boy am I glad he swerved every time we went by. lol

By the time we were coming home...the street was totally closed off. In the news report I saw they said, Water breaks in the area reported in early February had caused lots of undermining and damage to the streets, which crews believe is what caused the sink hole to appear."

This was a scene we saw as we were heading over to therapy. It was a really nice day...the clouds in the sky looked just so beautiful!

Well, it was a disappointing weekend, due to the pain we weren't able to go anywhere. But, I know there will always be other times to get to see the kids. The therapist said it may take awhile but she will get me loosened up and feeling better. I hope she is right!!

As soon as we got home I saw this little robin out at the feeder! They are so fat this year! After our snow showers last night I bet they wished they hadn't returned so soon....smile..

I hope you had a great day...and not an April Fool's kind of day.........

Back to Therapy

This was one of the sites we saw today as we headed to therapy again... I had planned on letting you know how well I was doing last night (you know how it is when you feel good, you don't think to complain talk about it.) (And I know some of you have wondered how I was doing.) Then my leg started to hurt again yesterday ..sad... Last night and this morning was really bad! And isn't too much better after therapy today. With Easter weekend coming up I won't be able to get back into therapy until Monday. So will pray I will improve with our normal stretches over the weekend. I would hate to miss seeing our babies Sunday.

Sorry this picture is so blurry...but I spotted this 'hawk' as we were speeding down the road and snapped and hoped I got it...ha... He was a big one!!! smile..

Today our weather was nice, as it will be tomorrow. But Friday is really going to sweet..kind of like "Spring", close to almost 60...smile.. By the way did any of you see the beautiful moon this morning? I saw it peeking through the window when we work up!

Hope you are all well and happy!

Spring Has Sprung or Has It??

I think the only spring we say today were these flowers we hung outside yesterday. smile...

We headed over to the therapist this morning and even though it was suppose to be the first day of spring and it looked nice out, it was actually very cold! The wind chill at one time was around -15 below zero...so not so much like spring!!!

I spotted this windmill as we were flying down the road and finally got a decent picture of it! smile.. Don't you just love windmills??

I did have an issue with my hip and will have to have a few treatments to get it limbered up. Tonight, I do feel a little better. We will have to wait and see how that goes, hopefully she'll get me back to normal! (whatever normal is smile..)

How has your weather been this fine first spring day? I would love to hear what it's like where you live.

Celebrations

I spotted these today out the van window...aren't they just amazing and beautiful?? Only our God could create these!!!

Yesterday my birthday started with this early morning sunrise. I just knew it was going to be one of those cold...cold wintry days! However, it was amazing, filled with the warmth of love by the cards I've received, the text, phone calls and Facebook messages! My granddaughter and I Skyped, it was so fun, seeing her and the time we visited together. smile... My friend stopped by and cut my hair!! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!!!

However, during all this celebration we did take the time to head to the "dungeon" and stretch and exercise!! Tom even turned the fireplace on to warm the basement up! smile... So, nice dungeon huh??

I'm not sure if I should share this with you or not...smile... But, I ordered these Orange Chicken dinners from Applebee's and Tom ran down and picked them up. (We had a gift card from my son and daughter in love from Christmas!) Then I had a brain storm...it was my birthday (right?) so I called them back and ask if they do anything for customers birthdays? She said, not for pick up orders... sad... I then told her why we didn't come in (due to the flu scare) and that I had MS. She said she'd ask her manager and I said that would be fine, whatever they decided to do. And told her to have a wonderful day! When Tom got home and I opened the bag, there was a cup of strawberry cheesecake! smile... How sweet of them to do that.

Today we headed to therapy, and as I walked in wearing my mask!! they knew why and were very much in favor of it! She measured my movements to see how her new exercises were doing for me. AND we were very excited to see that I had a 10% improvement on my foot, as well my strength had improved quite a bit also! So, I guess that means heading to the dungeon again everyday in the future!! smile... After we stopped at a Drive Inn and had a bite to eat, we headed over to get Tom's hair cut!! I prayed there wouldn't be a lot of customers when we got there as I planned on staying in the van (didn't want to get around people due to the flu..) and when we got there, he didn't have customer one!! smile... (Thank You Jesus!) So we had a good day and once again I hope I stayed out of flu's way....smile... I just hope you're having a wonderful week too and staying safe and warm!

wishing you a flurry of blessings.......

Yesterday and Today...

Are you having a busy and hectic day as we are? smile... So funny, this morning Tom kept saying.."we have all day"...soon the day was ending and dusk was setting in...smile.. We baked a pot full of cranberries, some we'll take with us tomorrow for dinner. Tom made another salad to take!

Yesterday, we went to therapy, she gave me a few more exercises to do (which I'm feeling them tonight..smile). And she has released me..so good thing! I hope I continue to feel good and stick with my old and new stretches and exercises. (Which I know Tom will make sure I do...ha..ha..)

There were so many lovely sites to see yesterday. Our weather has been just beautiful! Today we had a record high of 72!! Can you believe that in November, in Iowa??? Tomorrow will be cooling down, but not normal November weather that is for sure. We are all just thankful and loving it!!

We all have so many things to be thankful for. Gorgeous sites to see...and enjoy! Our morning and evening skies have just been amazing to see... (Tonight ours was pink, as I looked up I saw the exhaust from a jet streaking across the skies...and normally the color is 'white' but tonight it was pink! smile...)

Yesterday, while we were in WalMart and looking for some some weights (for my new exercise), the lady that was helping us told me that I was really lucky, (with my MS I didn't feel lucky) than she said her aunt who has MS was 44 and had been in a wheelchair for 20 years. Now I know I'm lucky and blessed....

We were busy, folding, stamping etc. the Bugle's and were taking them to the post office this evening (when we finally got them done), first we stopped and picked up my medicine, all of a sudden, I noticed a post lady getting mail out of a mail box...I asked her if we could give her some mail! She said sure...so Tom got our box of almost 90 newsletters out and she took them...BIG SMILE... I loved it! Saved us a trip downtown to get to the post office. God is good and certainly works in mysterious ways...

Enjoy your day tomorrow and think of how you are blessed and thankful! HaPpY ThAnKsGiViNg!!!!

Doctors Visits

When we were leaving the city today to head out of town to therapy...look what we saw!!! The beautiful waterfalls in front of the Stoney Creek Inn, was mostly frozen!! I can't believe they forgot to turn the water off!

We always have such a time with the trucks on this highway. We're heading along minding our own business...Tom passes a truck (as we have the van on cruise doing 64 mph)...then they pass us!!! ha...Obviously, they don't use cruise in those trucks...smile...

The countryside was so pretty... but we were so busy today, after therapy, we stopped at KMart and did some shopping. Then lunch...where we ate way too much as always...ha..

More lovely scenery...we shopped a little more, then shopped at the grocery store! They had a special, buy a ham, get a turkey free! Tomorrow is our South Bottoms potluck...we're making wild rice soup...yummm! Have you ever had it or made it?? I got the recipe from our caterer where I use to work.

Hope you're having a good week!

Election Day...

Yesterday was a cold and overcast day.....and with the time change...being darker earlier, it was just difficult to do too much that was productive...smile.... Today, was much better...

We "voted" early, I hope you were able to get out and get to a voters polling place! We are so blessed to have the freedom to vote!
We went to therapy today, I love it when she works on me....always makes me feel so much better!! (I've told her I'd really love it if she came to our house each morning....lol) Afterwards we had lunch, then went shopping!! Yeah! smile... The temperatures were nice, but boy was it windy!!! After lunch, I walked out and my purse....(which Tom always says weighs a ton...ha..) blew off of my walker!!!...smile... Thank goodness nothing fell out!! But it was fun to go shopping...I even got my 'Staple's' fix...ha...  You see, we use to have a Staple's closer to where we live, then moved to the other side of town and I haven't been able to get out there very often....and to shop on line, just isn't the same...ha... So, I got lots of goodies!! And since Micheal's is next door, I just had to go in there and get some scrapbook stuff that was on sale!!! Then I went with Tom and he got his hair cut!! By the time we got home, we were both exhausted!!!

I hope you had a blessed day!

One day old....

I had to start this post with a picture of our Lorelai at the age of 'one day old'...smile... Isn't she just precious???

Now back to the beginnings of the day! We headed out to therapy and crossed one of the rivers that was flooding this summer...it has gone down a lot!! Looks pretty good now!! smile....

When we got to therapy, we were so happy to see this little gal! She is taking another position in Colorado. It is a great opportunity for her, but we shall miss her.

Then we were off to the Farmer's Market! We got to see several of our friends, it was a lovely day, warm, but with a nice breeze!  Afterwards we went to the Senior Center for lunch...they had a wonderful meal, as always and for a minimal price! smile...

And then to the hospital to see baby "Lily"...smile... Her Mom (Lacey) looks amazing...hard to believe she just had a baby yesterday!!! She was eating when we got there, so Mom had to 'burb' her! And then she got the hiccups...smile...

However, after awhile, I did get to hold her...she loves to be held tight and wrapped up warm...smile... Soon the hiccups subsided! She is so precious and cute! I felt like I could have held her forever!!!smile...

But it was Papa's turn...we needed to get a picture of him holding her...smile... Here he is going 'shhhh'...'shhhh'..now that was precious...smile...  He said he was so afraid of her, that she was so little and that he might drop her...smile... But he did just fine!

And of course I needed to end this with another picture of her........ (By the way her nick name will be Lily)

Thank you all for your wonderful comments and prayers.... Blessings.......

Everything is dropping...

As we headed out for therapy this lovely morning, with temperatures in the low 70's it was just beautiful and so encouraging! Love the fact that these temps are dropping!!!  Then of course we all know the stock markets are dropping too... sad... But again on the good side...it looked like the river is receding, so that is wonderful..and now people can return to their homes again. (This will be a blessing for all of them...)

Then we went to the Farmers Market to check some things out...smile... Our friend who has the soaps and lip balms, is now making bath salts!! Aren't these little bags cute??? And "oh my" they do smell wonderful!!  She said you just drop the whole bag in your bath water! Or you can put it in a drawer (to make everything smell good....) so when we were coming home our van started to smell so nice...I thought ...hummm maybe we'll just leave it in there...smile... And we'll buy another one Saturday for my bath!!

The watermelon and muskmelon are finally in season!! I wanted one soooo bad, but...

Tom had cut up a pineapple yesterday, so thought we'd better eat that up first...so I'm busily eating on it..(and it's amazing ...by the way) so we'll have it gone by Saturday so we can get some of that fruit from the Farmers Market!! smile...

As we were coming home..I spotted this...I'm not sure what they are growing but they have woven sticks between the corners of the fence!! What do you think?? Muskmelons?? Cucumbers??  Give me your best guess!! But I thought it was ingenious how they wove sticks that way!!!

We're heading off to a potluck...hope you are having a blessed day!!!

Cooler Day...

Oh my...praise God...we woke up to a much cooler day and it just felt sooo good!! My fat feet looked so much thinner this morning!! Loved it!! It felt so nice for a change!!! smile... If you've ever had 'swollen feet' you'll know exactly what I mean...smile...

We headed out this morning and used a different route to help eliminate some pot holes!!! smile... It was a much smoother ride...since this street is rarely used!! (We need to find more streets like this...smile.) Anyway, we went to therapy, of course it felt good as always. She thinks I'm doing well, so don't have to go back till next week!!

THEN we stopped at this car dealership, as we got a card in the mail with a 'key' attached to it! It said, come in try the key to see if you've won a 'new car'!! Since we were going right by...Tom decided to try it!! (Don't you just love these "air men"?)  They go this way and that way...and up and down...smile... Fun just to watch, which I did as Tom went in to check out the key!! smile...  Of course....the key didn't open the car door...but he did win $2.00... ha.....

Then we went to the Farmer's Market and got some more 'tomatoe's', as well as some wonderful homemade..soaps! Oh wow...they smell so good!

We headed to the Senior Center for lunch! It was so yummy...Beef Stroganoff, buttered noodles and snow peas!

Tom wanted to show me this building...we saw on the news that they were tearing it down and moving it to a small town, the elevator there will be storing corn in it!! It truly is huge!! Years ago, Tom (being an Iron Worker) help to build this...so we stopped and he went to the shack and talked to the workers. smile... They thought it was very interesting to hear how he had worked on it!! And of course he enjoyed telling them...smile...

And last but not least....I have to tell you about this blogger Sweet Ella she does a lot of couponing and is always getting great deals!!!  So...today, we needed some Puppy Milk Bones, I had clipped a $1.50 off coupon, so Tom used it when he bought a couple boxes!! They were $3.99 each, thus $7.98 plus tax.. So we went to a store that had a sale on them...with .99 cents off each box AND since we are Seniors that meant another 15% off 'today'...smile... Bottom line...those two boxes cost us $3.96 including tax!!! Love the fact that we got them for less then half price!!!  smile... Do any of you do this??? Coupon or look for sales and discounts??? Love to hear what you do! (And don't forget to hop over and check out Ella's Blog...smile...)

Blessings dear friends........

"Hot & Humid Day"

Spotted this lovely "yellow" day lily today as we were leaving therapy this morning... smile...

When we headed off this morning it was so hazy out!! At 9:45 a.m. it was 85 degrees and an hour later it was 95 degrees... so we knew it was going to be a very "Hot" day... and it was!! By 4 o'clock this afternoon it was 100 degrees with a heat index of 117!!

However when we were heading home from therapy we saw these glorious green crops and I know they love all this humidy.  And yes, I spelled Humidity incorrectly...smile... darn where is spell check when you need it...ha

When we got back in town we had a nice lunch at Perkins, then Tom stopped to pick up a couple lottery tickets, since the lottery is at approximately $160 million...smile.... I told Tom 'buy me a scratch ticket' since I had won those tags, I was feeling lucky...smile... Tom bought me a $2 ticket since it had more chances to win...smile... Once I scratched them all and read and re read the directions..it looks like I won $2...ha... So I guess I didn't really win nor loose...ha.......  Do you play the lottery?? Or gamble in other ways??  If I could I think I'd like to play Bingo...smile... (too boring for Tom...lol) I use to play the penny and nickle slots....seems you can play all day (if you want).... But...of course you never really win much...never become a millionaire that's for sure...smile...

Blessings....

Off to Therapy today...

Today we headed to therapy and I spotted these gorgeous 'yellow' flowers...smile... outside the clinic! But since we just made it on time...I had to wait to take this picture until we left!! smile...

I couldn't believe how 'muggy and humid' it was this morning... As we were traveling through the country to get to therapy..the crops helped to put lots of humidy in the already soggy air!!! As you can see through our 'dirty'...'bug splattered' windshield! ha...ha....

I saw this painting outside the "Black Bear Restaurant", which I thought was cool...then I played with the Picnik software and viola!!. Just thought I'd share it with you...smile....

Have you ever been to a Black Bear Diner?? We were so excited to see them open a restaurant in our area so we thought we should patronize it! Their food is wonderful, but such big portions! However, they do have Senior lunches, which are 'suppose' to be smaller portions...ha... We had lots of leftovers...smile...

Do you have any plans this weekend? I have two baby showers to go to this weekend! One being our granddaughters...yeah...I can't wait to see her and 'baby to be'...smile....

I planned to go to school today, but they are taking tests so I didn't go. Worked on my blouse and at last have it finished. Bernadine and Muzzett came down this evening. Walked part way home with them. Met Cecil, Daryle and "Tiny". Cecil acts as if he is mad.
