First Fish Fry

Last night we headed down for the first fish fry of the season! It was soooo good! They take the summer off, and start up again in September. I'm almost ashamed to tell you this, but I ate all that fish! smile...

I thought these clouds were kind of funky! Kind of a weird description, but I enjoyed seeing them.

Whizzing home... It was fun to see our friends. However, I was pretty sore this morning. But it did calm down as the day went on. Hope you are having a nice weekend!

The Fry of the Fish

Yup, we made it down to the Fish Fry again this month. We go early so we can get the first batch of fish! To us it always seems to be cooked perfect then!! However, if we go back for more it's still wonderful! smile.. And we're heading home before dark! smile... We drove by our friends house, she has it decorated so beautifully!

The crops are turning and getting ready to harvest.
We picked up my SIL's friend to come with us. Her friend has recently moved into assisted living. So she was excited to get out and have 'fish'!

Amazing isn't it, that the trees continue to stay green? But the corn is almost ready to be picked.

I think whatever crop was here has been picked. Probably corn. They might have picked it for silage.

Did you have a nice weekend?? We were busy most of the day yesterday. We got the monitor mailed in the morning, afterwards I told Tom, lets stopped at Panera Bread and get my "Free Coffee" I get this month. While we were there we also bought a cinnamon bagel to share. They are so yummy!! Do you have a Panera Bread where you live? I stop when I want a treat!! smile...

What do you have going on this week? Hope it will be a good one for you..

Fish Fry Begins Again

Doesn't this look delicious?? We went for the fish fry tonight. Yes, it ha started again. Yeah! It was as delicious as ever. And better yet, we sat with 3 other couples and had such a good time. A beautiful end to such a lovely fall day.

Have to share this with you. We were going through this small town looking at all the tree damage from the storm last week. Now this is one of the sites we saw...

First, I spotted this horse at a Pioneer store. Now this is such an unusual site, that I had Tom turn around so I could get some pictures! smile... (Notice the hitching post...lol) The streets are gravel except for a main highway that goes through it.

And off they went..with their Dr. Pepper in hand! smile... Wouldn't it be kind of fun on a lovely fall day, to saddle up your horse and ride it up town to get a pop? Personally I would love it!!

Well, I will finally finish my project tomorrow...that being our newsletter. Yeah! Not sure I'll get the green tomato pie done until next week!

Goodnight....

Crazy few Days...

This was the horrible tornado that went through our area last night. I was so worried about my granddaughter and her family. I was on the phone texting her along with my son. Turned out she was working at the hospital and was okay. Lorelai and her dad, were at his family. He got a call that he had to return home and go to work, as he's a lineman and there were plenty of electric lines down. He left little Lorelai with her grandparents. Then my concern was their home as it was close to where there was lots of damage. I found out this morning that it too was okay. Prayers really do work. If you need prayers, please let me know and we will all prayer for you and your needs.

Now, on a lighter note!! I finally was able to go to my first Red Hat luncheon this year. It was so nice to see everyone! I have missed them so much!! I walked into the room and everyone started to clap..and several jumped up and gave my lots of big ((hugs))! What a blessing these girlfriends are!

It was our Halloween celebration, so many were all dressed up in many different costumes! All I had was a spider web pin (can you see it??) smile.. Our Queen gave it to me many years ago, since I was the 'web mistress' as I had made a web page for our chapter!

Here is the rest of our porch setting, which includes my Mothers Day flower! It did really good this year, as you can see.

Our yard is so full of leaves...and they keep coming down. Tom's mower broke and we finally got it back yesterday. So, he will soon be 'vacuuming' them up...lol

Tonight we went to the monthly fish fry and got to visit with all our friends! My cousin, top right picture came so we could see each other and visit. smile... It was so good to see her. Oh, and by the way the fish was amazing!! smile...

Hope you had a good week...

Fish Fry again........yumm....

Last night we headed down to our first 'fish fry' of the year. They take the summer off...and start it up again in the fall. smile... So we headed off and we're so glad we did. Look at that fish...it was amazing as always! smile..

Tom took his sleep study machine back earlier in the day.  I sure hope I put it on him right this time... We should hear something by next week.

Today, we had company, a lovely couple from church. It was so good to see and visit with them! They are such a wonderful couple and have had their share of health issues this year and yet here they were!! (blessings...) Afterwards we headed out and went for lunch. As you know...we love to drive around town....well, did it again today, we spotted this abandoned house...

Then I spotted this buck..I should have taken a photo of where he was hiding..as he was way back in a wooded area...there also was a lady sitting outside in her back yard..watching him. smile.. As we drove by I told her I was taking pictures of him...she just smiled

Tom got out at one point and took this picture . It was way up on a hill!! Now if I had taken it..I'd have lost my tummy. I "do not" like heights like this!!! smile... I noted on the photo where our Farmer's Market is normally located!! That's the Missouri River in the background..

Hope you've had a wonderful SONday! We weren't able to attend church this morning, so listened to it on TV this afternoon when we got home. I always love to hear the Word...

Our weekend...

Last night we went to the monthly fish fry. This is what the skies looked like as we were heading down there.  They were so pretty, but the camera never captures it to it's total beauty!! (and of course --as I call them--they are photos on the go...)

This is our welcome center...it is so neat to go through...lots of history here. There is always someone to take you through it and give you a lesson about either this boat and or our city.

We also spotted these geese getting a little something to eat (I assume). They were there when we went by, but were gone when we came back... so guess they got their supper...just like us. ha..ha...

Today, Tom's knee was giving him lots of fits again, so he kept it elevated most of the day. We watched church on TV, then ordered a pizza (Papa John's yummm)! Then I started working on the newsletter, the phone rang and it was my girlfriend. She wanted to come over with her daughter to pick my brain...lol  They had questions on medicare. We had a nice visit that ended with a promise to have lunch sometime soon. (She still works.

I hope you had a blessed SONday!

Brrrr Winter is Here...

Yesterday morning, I looked up and there was Rusty laying in front of the fire, sound asleep! smile... He is so cute!

Last night as we were heading down to my friends mothers prayer service. It was very cold out and the smoke was coming out of the smoke stacks on the power plants, while the sun was going down.

And another shot as we were pulling off the interstate and heading into town. This is the town where I grew up...so it's always nice to see it again and to reminisce. We went by my brothers house, which he inherited after my parents passed away, I said to Tom, it seems funny seeing that kitchen light on, makes me think of my folks. Mom always had the kitchen light on.... My son says the same thing, when he goes by on his way home from work at night, and he see's that light on, he thinks of his Grandma....

It differently is cold...as you can see by the snow and the ice floating down the river. Brrrr...

This morning the skies were so pretty, but the camera just never justifies it...however, we really enjoy and appreciate it's beauty!

Of course, I had to slip in a little picture of our local woodpecker...smile... Isn't it amazing how they use their little feet just like hands to hang on to the feeders?

Late this afternoon we headed down to the monthly fish fry we go to each month! Again, it was about the time the sun was going down!

However, when we headed home the wind had come up and it was blowing the snow from the fields across the highway. We thought oh my gosh... we wanted to get home...ha..ha... And of course, we made it safely and were glad to be home! Sure good to be home in front of the fire!!!

Now for a unique story....for whatever reason I decided to go through some old papers this morning. So I got my old scrapbook out and had fun looking at some old articles and different things. When I came across this clipping of my girlfriends wedding announcement, I thought I'd scan it and send it to her as I knew that would make her smile! I figured I should read it since it said, "January" bride and find out when her anniversary was. And who would believe it...it was today!!! I called her to wish her 'happy anniversary' and found out today was their 50th anniversary!! Now would you call that coincidence or what?? smile... Do you ever have blessed things like this happen to you??

Hope you're looking forward to a wonderful SONday!!!

Foggy & Fish Fry

We woke up late this morning, but we thought it was early as it seemed dark outside. However, it was actually 7:30 and foggy!!! It took some time before the fog burnt off. I'm always thankful on days like this that we don't 'have' to get out and drive in it.

This afternoon, we headed down to the monthly fish fry! This was one of the sites I saw as we were whizzing down the road.

Soon the sun was setting in the sky and I captured this shot! The fish fry is put on by the Legion and you can buy a ticket for a drawing, the winner gets  50% of all the funds raised, the other 50% goes to the Legion. We bought $2 worth..and they called a little while ago, and said I won!!! Woo...Hoo... Am I on a lucky streak or what?? smile....

It is late and I want to get this put up yet tonight, but tomorrow I will tell you about how once again God moved in our lives. It will be hard to believe....but amazing.... until then have a blessed SONday..........

Fish Fry ...

We went to the fish fry tonight and here are a few sites we saw on our way!

Don't you just love this time of the year?? Overcast and changing of the colors....

We headed out to pick up our friend we were taking with us..we saw deer and turkeys! The wildlife is enjoying some of the crops that are left on the ground after  the harvest! I would not want to drive these roads  of a night...I'm afraid there would be too many deer running across the roads in the dark.

I hope you've had a blessed day...

Missed a Snow Storm...

Yesterday as we were about to head out for my Red Hat Luncheon I spotted all these birds at the feeder! At that point we thought "Oh boy...we are in for a bad snow storm"! (Notice the buds on the lilac bush limb?..we fear the trees are being fooled by our warm weather and starting to bloom early..sad)

We had a fantastic Luncheon with all our friends. Valentine's month is always exciting...some of us have Secret Sisters who get us fun things! We had a scramble word puzzle that we all tried to figure out! Between the 4 of us at our table we figured almost all of the words out. But the one that had us all stumped was sorer...we all thought it was roses....but no...there wasn't 2 s's so that couldn't be right...when she announced the correct words...it turned out...she mistyped the scrambled word...smile...so.....we got all of them right...smile.... Everyone left early out of fear of the rain, thinking it would soon be freezing.

Today was National Homemade Soup Day! (seriously...) So Tom made homemade vegetable soup. Oh yumm...it was delicious! And tomorrow it will be better! smile.... Even though we missed the snowstorm..he still made the soup...ha...ha...

This afternoon we took Tom's cousin and his wife out to our monthly fishfry. It was as wonderful as ever...I tried to not overeat  but I feel overly full! As we were traveling along...we spotted all these Canadian Geese...I think our warm weather has got them confused too!!!

Here is a picture of our night skies. Don't those clouds look like God took a brush, dipped it in blue paint and swished it across His skies!!!

I hope your weather is treating you well and that you are having a blessed weekend!

Sunshine-y day....

As I was sitting having my coffee this morning and reading the paper, I looked up and saw this site. I thought it was so pretty...sun brightly shining through the window reflecting our Christmas tree on the wall!!! Pretty and Peaceful huh?? We've been keeping our Christmas decorations up in hopes of having our last Christmas get together with my son and his family..but I'm afraid we'll probably have to pack things away next week...

We went down to a fishfry tonight...it was soooo good! The pollack was the best they've ever had...only trouble..I ate way too much and was way tooooo full. When we left town..there was a train high balling through town...

It was a long train...but sure didn't take much time to whiz....by...

So we headed home...  tomorrow I have a treat for you...some fun pictures from my daughter in Georgia and her peril with that pesky...Papa Cardinal...smile... I know you can't wait to see them, can you??

Hope you have a blessed SONday....
