Happy Halloween

I had visitors this afternoon.... She (the clown) scared me almost to death when she walked in.  I didn't even realized it was my friend/caregiver.. ha! Then I knew when her children followed her in. It is always fun when they come by, especially on Halloween!! ha! ha! I thought their costumes were amazing...

A couple days before my twin great granddaughters came by. They were selling popcorn for a school fundraiser.. And of course grandma wanted to buy some.. This popcorn is amazing...we used to buy it at the Farmers Market, as they had a booth down there. Tom would say, lets try this one and this one..ha! It's a wonder we didn't gain a million pounds!! ~smile~

Normally whenever kids come to the door to sell their items for school I buy them, as I know what it's like to do that. It takes courage to knock on that door!! I don't remember doing this, but my girlfriend Mary, told me I sold hers along with mine, as she didn't have the nerve to try and sell them..ha ha  Did you ever do that??

Another bird....we call it a "snow bird", because it has a dark body, with a white belly..Their official name is a 'dark eyed Junco'. They too are pretty though.

Our weather has been pretty nice. I have to get out tomorrow morning. But it sounds like we're to get some rain/snow tomorrow night. I feel it's way too early for that again. I will share pictures of our first snow we had tomorrow.

Bye for now...

It Takes a Village.....

Oh yes, we've all heard that saying haven't we?? "It takes a village to raise a child"! Well, I thought of this last week when I fell, to me it went something like this...It takes a village to raise an old lady...ha! ha!  I'd had a few things going on in my life...like an infection and was on antibiotics for that. Then last Monday I had went to a doctor to see if I was a candidate for cataract surgery. (which I am) But it took about 6 hours and I was just worn out when I got home. I figured the combination is what made me so weak I just couldn't stand and went down. I have a life alert watch, which I pushed and asked them to notify my neighbor/caregiver and the firemen (to get me up!!) They all came and I went to the hospital for fear I might have hurt myself...(I know they say I've shrunk a couple inches in my old age, but it's still a ways to fall...) smile... It was very painful to have the x-rays..trying to roll around on that hard, cold table...ugggg But the results came back in my favor. I had no broken bones... Yeah!!! But, I was still very tired and sore. So I stayed in the hospital for 3 days and then got to come home to my loving dog "Rusty"!! This is where the village comes into play. My neighbor Krystal was here everyday.. taking care of Rusty, running to the hospital to see me and bring me clothes etc... And my other neighbor Kelly came over and let Rusty out too. And others helped along the way...that is mine and Rusty's village.. How blessed am I??? Unbelievably blessed!!When I went in for my check up yesterday, my doctor said he read up and found out that the antibiotic I was on causes weakness in MS patients.. who knew?? It is a new founded discovery. Now, had I not gotten worn out like I did, I probably would have been fine on that drug. The best part was that antibiotic worked!!

Don't you love my flower?? I thought they were tiger lilies, but was told these are much prettier than the old tiger lilies as they were plain without the spots! Learn something new everyday!!!

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying some of this summer's warmth.  It has been 'hot' here, but hopefully we'll get a little rain tonight and it'll cool things off.

Please join me in prayers for our country..

Bye for now..

Jim Cantore Where are You?

Finally, I'm going to try and put up a post! All these are phone photos...but I have better ones to come. We knew last Sunday night a winter Blizzard was on its way to our area! So I did as much preparing as I could..had extra water handy, matches, flashlights etc... you get the picture. Then I went to bed.. The next morning..I was awakened by a BIG boom of thunder!! (That was thunder snow!) Then I got this Snapchat photo from my neighbor!!

I figured I'd better get up and let Rusty out!! At that point it wasn't too bad. However there was quite a bit of snow, and with the wind blowing like crazy..all my windows were covered. It was really hard to get any good photos! By noon or sooner, the wind had blowned my back door shut. There was no way I could let Rusty out there. He was finally able to creep out the front..

By evening my little friend came and she moved enough snow for him to make it off the porch! I didn't even need a leash on him...as you can see...he had a "snow fence"! He was thinking about jumping into the snow pile....but thought better of it! Ha Ha!

We ended up getting over 12" of that white stuff! Ugggg.. The picnic table shows how deep it was!

I hope you're all having good weather and have missed this blizzard of 2018... as we like to call it!

Bye for now...

Storing Up for Winter

Good evening! Have you ever had God move people into your life? This little lady is my neighbor, and has been for several years. She's married and has two beautiful children (except when they have Halloween out fits on... then their scary! LOL)  Tom used to visit with her when he was out in the yard. And we had hollered at each other a few times! But one day....I fell!! And I called her neighbor who wasn't home, but said he'd call her, that she could get me up! Well..that was the beginning of a wonderful God given friendship ! In the last six months she has been my friend and caregiver! Example, this weekend, she was busy cooking most of the day. She made little lasagna's (6 or so I think) and froze them...aaaaa not all of them. I had her keep one out, which I ate for dinner and supper! It was so yummy! She also made taco meat, loosemeats, and tater tot casseroles! Before, she had made chicken fajita meat and barbeque shredded chicken. Oh, and chili... Tonight she made meatloaves for me! Yes, thanks to Krystal...my freezer is full..and I should be set for the winter! (What a blessing she is!)

Also yesterday some of my friends from church stopped by.. she had brought homemade bread to have with coffee at fellowship after church! She knows how much I love her breads, so she shared some of them with me! They both have had health issues...and yet they just keep going. They are amazing!!

I have been watching the Christmas Hallmark movies since they started! Some I've seen before...and could watch again and again! I know their predicable but so clean, loving and refreshing! I also watch Poldark! I like the show (on Public television), but after watching it last night before going to bed, it was kind of unsettling. sad.... I guess I should always end my night with a Hallmark movie!! smile... Do you like the Hallmark shows? Do you think it's too early to be showing them? (not me of course..lol) How about Poldark..are you watching it? Would love to hear your option...

Time for rest...blessings to you all...

Judge Not...Least You Be Judged...

How quickly we are to judge others. Are you like me to just come to a conclusion without actually knowing all the circumstances? This morning when I let Rusty out, to do his duty, I heard the neighbor say ‘you better have her put her dog in, this dog is running loose’. So I hollered over and said what did you say? She said there’s a dog running loose. About that time, Rusty sees the dog, which was in their yard, and starts barking at it! And here it comes running from across the street out of their yard. As I'm trying to bring Rusty in so there is no confrontation, of course that dog got here first. The young neighbor man came along too. He helped me pick up Rusty and get him in the house and kept saying “I'm sorry I'm sorry”. So later I thought, Rusty’s got to go out again and finish his duty. I looked over there and they still had the dog in front of them as their sitting outside in their chairs. So I hollered over and I said do you have your dog on a leash yet? Certainly not wanting any confrontation between people and or dogs. They said they didn't have a leash and I said well my dogs got to go out and go the bathroom. So he came over and said, it's not our dog, it’s the neighbors down the street and they beat him and he's a nice dog. He said they had called the Animal Shelter and they hadn't answered yet. We just want him to be safe. So they took him in to their house and I let Rusty out. Soon the Animal Control truck came to take him away.

But the first thing on my brain was how easy is it to judge others when you don't know the whole circumstance. Because what was going through my mind was that these people don't really care, they don't take care of their dog, when I need to let Rusty out, what am I going to do? Sit out there every time with him, so he doesn’t have to worry about a big dog coming over and maybe attacking him? Rusty’s always on a leash, why don’t they think they have to put their dog on one??? Then when I found out the truth, I felt so bad because I had prejudged them.

I hope all is going well in your neighborhood.. Apparently there was an earthquake this morning in Oklahoma and was felt all the way up here, some say. I guess I slept right through it. I saw on the news tonight, how many quakes Oklahoma has had over the years, and since they started the 'fracking water wells' (for oil), the number of quakes has increased tremendously. (Something like 35 a year to hundreds a year..) Well that's a discussion for another day. Guess I need to get my facts straight before I go prejudging...smile

Blessings and good night...

A House of Flowers and Prayers Needed

Last week when we were out and about, I told Tom I wanted to go by this house to get some photos! This house isn't far from the hospital. I think Tom spotted it back when he use to drive for Wheelchair Services. It is so pretty and full of flowers!

Look at the pretty gate, surrounded by flowers.

Isn't the fence pretty running along the sidewalk? And look at the beautiful flowers at the start of the sidewalk.

You can see from this view all the flowers along the sidewalk that goes up to the house.

I tried to zoom in through the fence, to look at the porch. See the porch furniture. Wouldn't that be fun to sit on and watch humanity go by??

And last but not least, check out the water fountain and the bench. Beauty!!!

We've had quite a week. Wednesday was such a nice day. Sherry came and helped organized some things for us. And my friend came by and fixed my hair. I felt so bad, she had just been to her nieces funeral. It was so sad, she was only 22 and had crossed the center line on a highway and ran head on into a truck. Killing both of them.

Then later I was letting Rusty out and I lost my balance and fell. (I was so upset with myself...) Of course I can't get up. Tom had been resting and he heard the kaboom!! I was going to call my son, Tom said there was a policeman across the street, I said go ask him if he'd help get me up! Karen went over to the neighbors (where the policeman was) and we don't know them. Anyway, this young man (neighbor) came right away and he just lifted me up! His mother came along too and said whenever we needed help to let them know. (very nice.) The policeman came also...offering assistance. (Their house had been broken into was why the police were there.) Of course I was very sore!!! bummer... Tom had an appointment the next day with his heart doctor, they discovered his heart is beating way too fast. He changed his medicine and wants to see him back in about 4 to 6 weeks. So, I would really appreciate your prayers that this medicine will work.

Blessings and good night.

The Ham

This week Rusty went to the groomers, and look at how great he posed for his pictures! smile... Shawn always takes the best pictures of the dogs she grooms!!

Sadly this morning he woke up with a sore back leg. He's been hobbling around most of the day. This happened a few weeks ago. Then it improved and he started jumping off the chairs again. darn... So, we will watch him till Monday and see how he does. IF he improves, we will not let him jump off anything again!!! smile...

After we had dropped Rusty off the other day, Tom stopped to tell our new neighbor, "what a cute dog he had!" He was nice but a little stand offish, until I told him we lived down the street. He got much more talkative-smile.. I think he said the puppy (only a few months old) was a Boston Terrier! Isn't it cute??? I guess his son wanted a puppy...the kids always win out don't they???..smile.. I wonder how Rusty will react when he gets to meet it??

Hope you have blessed SONday!

Snowmen

Our granddaughter, who lives in Huntsville, AL texted me to say they were having lots of snow. (more than us...who really should have the snow..) When they do have snow, they always make a 'snowman'. I think it is so cute...and aren't  they adorable??

I spotted this one the other day, looked like a half melted one... He lost a lot of weight when Mr. Sun came out.... (If only that would help us, I'd go back out and tan again! smile..)

And then there are these ones. We had so little snow that when these folks made their snowmen, they had to roll the leaves up in the snow.

Now this is adorable. Our neighbors did this one. They have a little boy about 3, so am sure Mommy helped him make these..

We were at -9 below this morning..so yes it was cold....but we've been very fortunate not to get a bunch of snow. (Just look at our snowmen, verses the one our granddaughter made! They got a lot of snow!!)

Was very busy trying to finish the newsletter today. I got the neatest old photos from our museum to add to the newsletter. I hope everyone will enjoy them as much as I do!! smile.. (I should share part of this newsletter with you. We'll see.)  I am pretty sore tonight, but I think I'll be fine by tomorrow. (Too much sitting at the computer, etc..)

 Have a wonderful weekend...

Weekend

The blog wasn't working last night...I thought "Oh no this new computer won't work on my blog." But thank goodness it was Blogger's problem not mine... smile

We spotted this Blue Jay at the water this morning. They are so pretty, but can be mean!

He headed out in the garden checking things out...smile.. hopefully he didn't eat some of our tomatoes when he was out there...smile..

And last but not least...here he was flying off (probably to the garden...smile) Aren't their wing span pretty when they light out???

On a sad note, out neighbors are moving. They bought a house just north of us. They had been renting, and lived there for several years. Tammy and her son came over the day she moved in and we've been close ever since. Her and her new husband are making this move! She always was so thoughtful and caring.. remember last winter when she'd come over and shovel the snow?? We're sure going to miss her smiling face!

Now on a lighter note, look at Rusty!! He found Tom's slippers (just laying there) so he brought them to me...knowing he'd get a little treat.. And of course he got one!! Now I must explain why I give him a treat, when he brings me something. Whenever, I drop something and are unable to pick it up, I just holler at him and he knows exactly what "I" need. He is so smart. Amazing how they learn to do these types of things. But then of course, he works me by bringing me things I don't want....lol..

I hope you've had a wonderful weekend! Tomorrow is a doctor day for us. What do you have on your agenda for the week??

There Are Angels Among Us...

This was the shot I took last evening when night time fell. smile... The street and house lights were glowing as the snow was falling.

I took the first picture early in the day...as you can see the flag was quite a bit above the snow. But....this morning the top of the flag was barely showing!!

As you can see the table shows how deep 9 inches of snow is!!!!

However, through all of this yucky snow...the snow is beautiful...as it gleams and glistens...like diamonds as the sun shown on it.

Isn't this a cute picture?? Tom lined up these chairs last week, as the wind seems to continue to blow them over...but this way they stay in place!!! smile...

More snow pictures....ha..ha... (Will this ever end?)

This afternoon as I was walking across the front room I saw that familiar red flash and realized...there was a cardinal out there!!! So I started snapping photos!!! There were lots of different birds out there...

Now about the angels...As you have seen...we got a LOT of snow.. Normally Tom would be out there bright and early (right along with the rest of people) but his knee has been causing him lot of problems. He must have re-injured it the other day, so he's been taking an anti inflammatory drug, and so far it hasn't helped. So he thought hopefully by tomorrow it would feel better, and he'd get out there and move all that snow. However, this afternoon two of our neighbors came over and moved all the snow. What angels they are! (Into the Blessings Jar!!)

Love By Thy Neighbor

Early this morning a fog moved in and soon there was frost covering our world. It really was pretty, but this afternoon the wind started to blow and it blew it all off the branches, so tonight we're back to black and with...smile....

We were having coffee this morning, and we heard someone shoveling our back porch!! Tom went to look and it was our neighbor, Tami. She was worried about us, as she noticed Tom hadn't shoveled our sidewalks yet. Isn't that special?? For a person to care about their neighbor... And it's comforting to us to know there are people watching out for us....smile...

To ease everyone's mind..(hee..hee...) Tom went out and did his snow blowing. (The reason he hadn't done it before was it just kept snowing and the snow plows hadn't come by!! He didn't want to have to do it more than once! smile....)

I spotted this nut hatch out on the suet today...again they were hungry! smile...

I have to share this with you! Look at the card we got from our friend Betty, in the mail the other day. Isn't this just the most adorable thing you've ever seen?? I love cross stitch, but have never been able to figure out how to do it. (Now who wouldn't want to be able to make something this beautiful??)

Actually, my daughter Brenda made this for me several years ago. Isn't it beautiful?? She is so gifted. But I don't think she is doing it anymore, as it's too much work I think..smile...

I hope you had a good day and are looking forward to a blessed SONday!!
